Yeah, it's looking like it's going to be almost a redshirt year for him. You would have to put in a pretty potent offensive group to be able to compensate for his shortcomings on that end and I'm not sure that's in the cards for the Magic this season.

I think were selling Payton a little short. If Gordon can improve his shot, Payton certainly will have the chance to do so.

That stroke alone is worth a roster spot, especially on a roster that has absolutely no wing shooters.

He was better down the stretch as well. I will say Curry probably outplayed him on the offensive end though, but he gave Payton fits all game. Both were solid, but Payton made a few bonehead decisions with the basketball and was careless with it as well. The bottom line is Seth Curry is the only one of these guys that I would feel comfortable with in the rotation right now.

Smart has been better with the basketball, knocked down a few jumpers, taken Payton off the dribble and been all over on defense. The nod goes to him.

Nope. Smart has looked fantastic on both ends, Elfrid has been a mixed bag

Who has looked better than Smart?

Idk Smart has looked like the best player on the court today 8:7 is a pretty poor A/T ratio.

I've been thinking the same thing. He's been the best player on our summer league roster. Good defensive half and we get the 2nd quarter point FWIW.

This is really shaping up to be a good defensive team 1-3. I'm excited to see what Gordon and Payton can do with real NBA teammates.

We say no. #21 isn't likely to result in anything besides a back-end rotation player and I can't see Perkins turning into much at the deadline, besides the fact that he's just a miserable basketball player. I would honestly rather keep Nelson to tutor our new PG, whoever that may be and he still is pretty effective himself.

    2014 Draft Thread

I would be very pleased with Hood at #12. He has a beautiful stoke, he would fit really well in a scoring role coming off of the bench, which is really as much value as you can get at #12.
  22. http://grantland.com/the-triangle/ryen-russillos-nba-draft-confidential-real-scouts-on-wiggins-randle-embiid-and-parker/ Great, great read. It's a GM, an assistant GM and a scouting directors opinion on the 2014 class. After reading what they had to say, I think the general consensus on these guys (they didn't speak on Exum) is. 1a. Embiid (if healthy) 1b. Parker 3. Wiggins 4. Randle It sounds as if Parker and Embiid are the going away 1 and 2.

Excellent Grantland Article on 2014 Prospects

He's a bit of a tweener, but I don't buy that his defense is all that bad. Keep in mind he was logging a lot of minutes at CENTER last year for Coach K. I honestly can't ever remember watching someone so young who was so polished offensively in college since Carmelo. He can literally score from anywhere AND he already has multiple post moves. You just can't teach elite scoring in this league, regardless of defense. Also, he's got a great BBIQ and he's in the right mindset, even at 18 years old. I think anywhere he ends up he's going to be an perennial all-star and in the mix for a few scoring titles. Wiggins is not on the same planet as him right now as far as an offensive skillset and that's what scares me about him. If Parker were to fall to us at #4 I would literally do backflips. No way Henny passes on that guy.

Curious, as is seems to have the opposite effect at face value. Care to explain?
