  1. I hate to keep harpin this, but I hope the SVG thing happens, It aint over yet, Theres wheelin and dealin being done, We dont have much we wont give at this point - they are second rounders take two of them... I think we can move some salaries and the third 2nd round pick to target someone even higher... Opens up more for the free agent(s) we need, and with the extra loot- sign who we need to sign, and have some extra cash layin around... our roster that would be left.. the targeted pick. and the free agent plus if you wanna blow that cash and not save it for seeing how a PG's extension plays out next summer, and pik up another FA now.. than so be it.. I think Im in the wrong thread... any way..If we miss out on SVG.. we definately need to take out time..weigh our options... do it the right way, since the goto's are off the table... Its ultimatley how we wouldve liked it to work out in the first place, Theres some interesting options out there. You guys brought up barkley talkin about Cooper, and people not even gettin a mention, he mentioned Shaw as one... Thats where I took a look at it. I hope the Magic take their time now , If SVG is really gone.

Stan Van Gundy HAS NOT been lost yet.

Im holding out that this is good news.... I havent heard anything "official" out there yet. Magic cleaned up the mess, Stan hasnt committed to the kings as of YET, our guys gotta be workin it right now... Until Stan is signed, I still hold out hope theres a way hes just out there lookin around (stallin) to see what the town is like (make us seem like we are less doin the second best thing vs. billy as well).... we still have time.. I just hope I wake up tomorow to another DOOZY.. but for once let the ball bounce our way. oh ya.....and Im sick of makin banners...just get it done.
  3. Given this recent development of SVG goin out to Sac, and if its not that he is just being a man and apologizing for verbally agreeing to the job, and is now tellin them in person he wont be their coach, I say we go with Brian, hell- he used to be on our payroll.. I say why not... Lets get Brain Shaw. I cant stand the thaught of having PJ CarlisiBLOW here. SO heres the best I could find so far about it.. Brain Shaw buzz from LA

The Official Hire Brian (SHAW!) Back thread

Found some more info on Brian SHAW, from the Indy Star given him mad props it seems... Another interesting tid-bit is that he has been in town for the predraft camp.... Brian Shaw a respected leader in the locker room Ex-NBA guard, candidate for Pacers' coaching job, is regarded as skilled communicator, mentor Whether Brian Shaw can win games as an NBA head coach remains to be seen, but this much is certain. He can win respect. Shaw, a Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach, is a candidate for the Indiana Pacers' head coaching position, having interviewed once with team officials. He also has interviewed with Sacramento, and could interview with others -- or a second time with the Pacers and Kings -- while in Orlando this week for the league's pre-draft camp. Shaw was a backup guard during most of his 14 seasons in the NBA but established himself as a locker-room leader who earned the trust of teammates and coaches alike. Los Angeles writers called him a mentor to Kobe Bryant when they were teammates on the Lakers' championship teams of 2000, '01 and '02. Shaquille O'Neal, in an April interview with a Miami Herald columnist, called him the teammate he most respected. Most meaningfully of all, Lakers coach Phil Jackson and general manager Mitch Kupchak called him to return to L.A. early in the 2003-04 season, when Shaw was working for the team as a scout and front office assistant, to mediate a brewing dispute between Karl Malone and Gary Payton. Later, he did the same for the feud between O'Neal and Bryant. Shaw, 41, brings varied experience from playing with six franchises. Along the way he played with or worked for the likes of Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, Red Auerbach, O'Neal, Bryant and Jackson. "I've been taking notes," he said in an interview with the Philadelphia Daily News last season. Shaw appears to fit the mold of recent coaching hires such as Sam Mitchell, Sam Vincent and others who weren't star players but had lengthy careers because of their intelligence and maturity. His coaching experience is limited to assisting Bill Bertka with the Lakers' summer league team. Bertka, a former Lakers assistant, described Shaw as "an astute, highly intelligent individual who is highly motivated," in an interview with the Ventura County Star. Shaw, known as "B. Shaw" to his Lakers teammates, has a calm demeanor and has had to learn to be more demonstrative as an assistant to Jackson. He is regarded as a skilled communicator, however, and left a positive impression on most teammates. One, Mark Madsen, wrote about Shaw in a March 7 blog. "When we both played for the Lakers, Brian was the one guy on the team who could pick up his cell phone and call every single teammate at any time," wrote Madsen, who now plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves. "Forget about his basketball I.Q. for a moment (which is off the charts). His ability to communicate with today's athlete is a rare gift and something that would serve him well as a GM or as a head coach in this league. "There are a lot of teams in this league that would benefit from the skill set that Shaw brings to the table."

Has all that not already been said, or did you just not understand..unable to extrapolate linear thinking? whats the deal. take your underhanded insults and bring them to the table if you wanna be a man about it... you are the one having problems seperating your loyalty to another team opposed to others who are here being loyal to our team, the Magic.

No Brian Hill - their will be a team mutiny and the only option for the Magic will to be to leave town and it would get very ugly. We still have good players - we need a decent coach, not a complete moron like Brian Hill. Dude, what is wrong with you? HA HA..knappy... re-read the post..... See how Donovans screw job didnt affect the status on Van Gundy? That is my point here. PS Yes Billy is a meanie but im a Gator so all is well in Gainesville. Have you been keeping up with this saga b4 today when you joined??? Stan said today was GO DAY.. he wouldnt wait past today, and everyhting had to by inked out and dry BY TODAY for him to not lose out on everything, this was his fear... so.. somehow in your mind you think the past two weeks of lost negotitaions do not make a difference... TRY AGAIN. and I still havent seen any thing reporting this excpet for derivitives on the SunSentinel story.. so who knows Officially whats up?

What was the compensation that the HEat asked for that screwed us??? Didnt you just say that Donovan left us coachless and screwed us??? I would beg to differ who is not dealing in or accepting reality here. or able to clearly see where blame lies in us wasting another two weeks...you seem to think that the first three were a big deal...but not these... shows that you are firmly based in reality my man... lol oh ya,,, Welcome to the board.

For real, quit playing the role apologists for this guy... If our front office wasnt tied up with his BS dealings for nearly two weeks now.. you claim that things wouldnt be different are beyond comprhension. The amount of man love yall demonstrate for this coward is astonishing... we dont know what the Heat asked for, so saying it was out of reach is speculation.. deal with the facts we do know.. Billy cost us two weeks of talks with others... thats the haps on the craps. nothing more , nothing less.... At this point, we are not rushed at all, except for our looming draft..which isnt that big of a deal and the looming FA.... Billy cost us other options, therefore, If the sigs havent hit the paper yet, we need to sit bakc and start the negotiations on consolations all over again... he has cost us at this point.

What can we offer ATL for the 11th?

lets not forget that not only are we moving up to try to get potential, we are dumping salaries in the process... lets take the Aroyo and Battie scenario for instance.. we trade off 9.2 million in cap room and take on an 11th pick rookie salary, whic I believe to be about 1 mil..net gain of 8.2 million. say we thro Bogans into to sweeten the pot we are lookin at net 11 million after the 11th picks salary... That another FA right there.. or give us some wiggle room with the FA we do go after, ensuring some cash for next summer when we will def need to make a PG decision if sumthin doesnt get worked out - it will leave us for room to extend jameer..if he doesnt work, it leaves us room to get another PG FA next summer. it just kinda hedges our bets as well as gets us some quality talent in the draft... which can also be used to our advantage down the line in a trade or whatever..... theres more to it than just goin after a better pick..

Who says JJ ain't athletic... enough?

quote: Steve Nash 12.77 FGA/G Jason Kidd 11.35 FGA/G Deron Williams 13.54 FGA/G Kirk Hinrich 13.26 FGA/G Baron Davis 16.35 FGA/G Tony Parker 14.23 FGA/G Chauncey Billups 11.64 FGA/G Calling Nelson a ball hog by point guard standards is completely unfounded. Your posting some stats , but not really looking at what they are sayin.... Every one of those guys teams you called up stats for, take more shots than the Magic per game.. meaning Jameer's percentage of Team shots is as high as or higher than all those guys except three.. Jameer has the third Lowest FG% of all off that list. The guys above him all have better asst. per game them him, meaning they distribute the ball for others to score, rather than depending on themselves. and the guys who avg more shots, and shoot a better FG%, distribute the ball batter all have guys around them who they look for and count on to score. so in reality...what is unfounded are your stats, not the fact that Jammer takes a diproportionate amount of shots when you consider his FG%, attempts per game v. team attempts, their assists to others per game, and their turnovers per game... I guess what IM sayin is I wouldnt call him a hog either, but he needs to work on getting the ball to others to score, work on making a better percentage when he does shoot, and work on not turning the ball over before we get a shot.

Its a matter of being professional. You wouldnt ever come out and say...Man this sucks, I hate the new coach... especially remembering where we came from and what they had to put up with for a coach prior to this.. and Luckily for Us Tom, our guys are motivated.. so this organization is no way in sad shape - your post is actually a confirmation of that.. even though you meant it to be belligerent, by your logic we are in great shape!

Just like every team wishes they could have Dwight Howard. Pathetic is when a Gator fan comes on a Magic message board to see how many arguments he can start. I'm a Magic fan too but choose to live in reality and blame bad draft picks, bad trades, and bad contracts for the team's mediocrity rather than the three day non-tenure of a coach. Youll fit in around here just fine... 3 outta four aint bad. Youll find there really are more people on here that will agree with that statement than you think.. We know why weve been mediocre, we also know we are moving in the right direction... we thought Billy was goin to be along for the ride, and he cowarded out, so be it, we will be alright if not better with SVG here in town oh...can you add bad coaching to that list above for me?
