quote: As far as SVG goes, I'm not convinced - he could never quite get the Heat over the hump and there wasn't exactly a player outcry when he left. I read somewhere that hes one of the VERY few coaches to improve a teams record by 15 wins in two consecutive seasons, and the only to do a 17 game improvement the first and then another 17 game improvement the next - Im almost 100% thats what they said, i may need to re-look that up... but anyway - I think the Donovan deal is done...and if not Id like it to go SVG...eff Laim'er

We might as well start FirePJCarlisamo.com RIGHT NOW

Smack - Heres some info for ya... PJ inherited a good team in Portland - one which went to the finals 2 of the 5 previous years, and made the conference final one of the other times. The 5 years b4 he got there , 59, 63, 57, 51, 47 wins. After PJ - they never broke 45 wins again, lost the in first round each year... After PJ leaves , the year after they win the conference semis, next years after that 59, 50, 49 50 wins, something they couldnt do with carlisemo. then he moves over to GS - who was up and down b4 he got there, sometimes winning 50, sometimes winning only 35 - but when PJ gets there - they go three staright season with less than 20 wins - he leaves..all the sudden GS is winning 30-36 games a season again. With all that has been said and done already this offseason - I cant see why we would even look into this guys direction, Hes defensive minded (we just canned one of those guys if yall dont remember), hes a hot head that is out of step with the younger generation and actually teaching rather than dictating (we just canned one of those guys if yall dont remember), he doesnt know how to win in the post season (we just canned one of those guys if yall dont remember), he lets young talent rot on the bench (we just canned one of those guys if yall dont remember)..etc... and now we start to talk about Bill LAIMbeer - see all above as to why his style doesnt mesh with what we are talkin about trying to move towards this offseason, and now lets look at his history in the league as a coach... ... there you have it... NO EXPERIENCE... didnt we want a proven guy, or atleast a guy with some experience... also, the guy is a grade a ****** - a punching bag, everyone thats old enuff to remember, should be able to recall this guy being one of the biggest moron, whinning blowhards that ever played - he has a reputation as being a "tuff" guy, or "hard"..I dont remember any of that, only a cowardly man stuck ina giants body..Dirty, Dirty player who flopped over his own tears on the defensive end, could be slighty touched on the offensive end with out *****in all the while grabbing people in headlocks and trying to injure them in the same game. eff PJ eff LAIM'er

    The Laimbeer Party.

Out of my self-induced abiding to interject one lil fact to think about... Lets all remember that Bill L. was one of the biggest floppers, red-faced, whinning, crybaby, punching bag c-smokers to ever "grace" the b-ball court.... we just rid ourselves of a shorter version of that kinda personality... I hate the Lambeer choice as about as much as I hate the PJ choice.... Back to abiding....

JJ to get a chance tonight - Denton blog

I hate when they use terms like... he "admitted" that he was "contemplating" using Reddick tonight.. admitted what...is it a crime? - is it all that far fetched? is he already creating an out as an excuse? what the hell does that mean???.. why admit something that you are contemplating?? which, by the way, in no way means we will see Reddick tonight. I dont give a rats petuty who plays as long AS WE EFFIN WIN*!! and it seems the board works the same way as you mentioned Junkie - the problem comes in when we couldve won, but lost out because of some questionable decisions. I hate it as well, but thats the way the cookie crumbles. Tomorrow we sing the praise of the Magic and wallow in our WIN! GO MAGIC!! *maybe we can get Reddick some mop up minutes, subbed in with THE HUMAN VICTORY CIGAR..Pat Garrity!

    2006-2007 PLAY-OFF GAME THREAD***Pistons vs Magic***GAME 3

Orlando Magic's Howard must recapture his early form Remember those early-season comparisons to a young, just-burgeoning Shaquille O'Neal from 12 years ago? It's time for the Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard to revisit them. Remember that early-season stretch of games where Howard made a 20-point, 20-rebound game look almost easy for someone with such a combination of power and athleticism? It's time to look at the tape, again. If the Magic are going to make this first-round playoff series against the Detroit Pistons competitive, the franchise player has to play like one now, fast-forwarding to what the Magic expect from him in the coming years. It's time for some Miracle-Gro to speed up the process. Trailing 2-0 in this best-of-seven series, the Magic return home desperate tonight, looking for something dramatic, needing Howard to rediscover the dominance he showed at various points in the regular season. If reputations in the NBA really are carved by the postseason, there is no better time for Howard to start leaving his mark. "When I look back at my first playoff experience, I don't want to say anything other than I gave it all I had," Howard said after practice Wednesday. "We know we can beat these guys, even when no one else believes." In two losses -- his first two career playoff games -- Howard has averaged just 10.5 points but 15 rebounds. He hurt the Magic in Game 1 when he made only 3 of 11 free throws and committed six turnovers. In Game 2, playing with a stomach virus, he made only 3 of 9 shots, hardly factoring in the offense. "You've got to get more out of your best player, at least what he's been doing all season long," Magic General Manager Otis Smith said. "If he does that, we're OK. I expect him to have a big game [tonight], although it won't necessarily show up in points and rebounds. It would show up in a win." Despite Detroit's defensive emphasis to slow him and hack him if necessary, despite his own inexperience in the postseason, Howard must find a way to dominate around the basket to give the Magic a fighting chance. When a No. 8 seed is looking to beat a No. 1 -- like the Magic are doing -- a good game obviously won't be good enough. It will require a game like O'Neal used to play, when he often overpowered two defenders, scoring while they rode on his back. During four regular-season games against the Pistons -- all Magic losses -- Howard averaged 20.8 points and 13.5 rebounds. "Obviously, we need him to be the guy he was for us all season, but it's tough when they can run five different guys at him," Magic guard Keyon Dooling said. "But he'll learn. He'll get it done." His drop in scoring in the first two games was not a big surprise. His scoring average dipped late in the regular season when he cracked the 20-point mark just twice in the final 16 games. It was in that same stretch when his turnovers increased, his free-throw shooting got worse and defenses were overloading even more to slow him. The lack of versatility in his offensive game just compounded the problem. Earlier in April, though, he did have 35 points against Philadelphia and 31 points against Memphis, two non-playoff teams that hardly play interior defense. His biggest game of the season came in January when he had 30 points and 25 rebounds against Golden State. Some of his teammates already have raised the level of their games in the postseason. Hedo Turkoglu averaged 19.5 points and shot 67 percent from the field in the two losses. Grant Hill has averaged 17.5 points and shot 56 percent. Even often-maligned Darko Milicic has averaged 12 points, five rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots. Now if only Howard responds. "Their [Pistons] game plan is not hard to understand. They are going to crowd him, take away his dunks and make other guys try and beat them," Smith said. "Really good teams can take away things. For him to be our best player, pressure has to be taken off him by our other players." Magic Coach Brian Hill also downplayed Howard's lack of offensive production in the series, believing the Pistons' defense has forced him to look elsewhere for points. "We need more of a physical presence in this game," Hill said. "That's on the glass [rebounding], taking fouls, They [Pistons] had more of that than we did in Game 2. We can't allow that to happen." The Pistons, conversely, will continue to look toward their guards for scoring. Richard Hamilton and Chauncey Billups -- both all-stars -- are averaging 22 and 21.5 points, respectively, in the series. "I feel great, a lot better than I did going into Game 1," Howard said. "I've got to be more aggressive and get to the basket more. I have to get their big guys in foul trouble. We all know what we have to do. We just have to do what it takes." Orlando Sentinel Article

    Wonderful Sentinel Editorial

Ya - I remeber it well. I was at the game.. you shouldve seen the zombies leaving afterwards... I think it was the quietest I have ever heard a crowd. There was no way he was gonna miss any of them, much less four in our minds... but I cam out with a nice chunk of change, traded away my two seats 12 rows up for 400 bucks and two tickets on the first row of the upper level. You wouldve thaught it was a crack deal by the way the guy was treating the transaction. I guess he was scared of scalper police. but back to the article....a basement???? kinda leads me to call BS on the whole thing.
