  1. Wasserman has him going 26th in his latest mock, and had him going 29th in his previous mock. He's been one of the hottest prospects in college the past month, along with Devin Carter.

    26. Washington Wizards (via Clippers): Carlton Carrington

    26 OF 58

Previous mock draft spot: No. 29

    School/team: Pittsburgh

    Position: PG/SG

    Size: 6'5", 190 lbs

    Age: 18, Freshman

    Nationality: American

    Pro comparison: Nickeil Alexander-Walker

One of the more interesting names teams will monitor during the predraft process, Carlton Carrington has divided scouts with his shotmaking, playmaking production and some athletic and statistical red flags. He finished the regular season averaging 1.9 threes, 5.2 boards and 4.2 assists, impressive production for a 6'5", 18-year-old point guard in the ACC. But he also shot 47.7 percent on layups, made just 23 half-court field goals at the rim and recorded 17 steals in 31 games. Scouts are drawn to his positional size, pull-up game and live-dribble passing, but they're torn by his lack of rim pressure, heavy reliance on jumpers and scary defensive playmaking rate.

  2. I think Bub goes top 20 in this class if he were to declare. This will be one of the oldest draft classes, due to the Covid year, and he's the youngest prospect in this class (doesn't turn 19 until after the draft). Plus, he finish the year pretty strong, shot over 40% from 3 over the past month and rebounds the ball very well for his size.

Just off his potential alone, and the way he stuff the stat sheet in his freshman year, I think he's a lock to go top 20 in this class.

NBA free agents I'd like us to consider signing this summer:

    • Jrue Holiday (P.O.)
    • D. Russell
    • M. Monk
    • G. Allen
    • T. Jones
    • Kenatvious Caldwell-Pope

I like the idea of starting two guards who can drain the three alongside Franz and Paulo. I don't trust Harris long-term, but our real weakness right now is in our bench. I don't see how we roll with Kelle and Cole next year.

Sign D-Lo and trade for Corey Kispert.  Draft Johnny Furphy (reminds me of Trey Murphy) in the first round and Baylor Scheierman (reminds me of Joe Ingles) in the second round.

Feels like coach is the last one that hasn’t given up on Markelle yet. Hate to say it as a huge fan of his personally, but he’s done

Yeah, we pretty much need to revamp the guard position. Harris, Fultz and Cole all need to be replace this summer. We just need a lead guard and another shooter to put things in place, offensively.

The key word is: "when there's proper spacing" around. Up to this point, how often has that happened for the Magic?

    Never.

I know everybody likes to compare us to Boston, but I think we're more in line with New Orleans. Two big athletic wings (Ingram and Zion) who struggle with shooting. But the difference with the Pelicans, they surrounded those guys with shooters. McCollum, Murphy, Hawkins, Marshall, Jones and Ryan. Everyone of those guys shoot over 39% from 3. Valanciunas also provide spacing, too. Weltman needs to follow suit, starting this summer.

  6. This is a badly constructed roster by Weltman. It's actually shocking that Paolo is able to have the year he is having with this roster. The spacing has to be the worst in the league. I'm not even expecting much from us in the playoffs, because we're going to be the easy team to scheme for, all teams have to do is pack the paint, double Paolo, and make the guards beat you. I think Weltman made a really big mistake by not making a move at the deadline. The Knicks are loaded from all the moves they made before the deadline. I hope this conservative approach by Weltman ends after this season, because they'll be a ton of shooters on the market this summer and we need to grab 2 or 3 of them.

Here's mine early Free Agency wishlist:

    D'Angelo Russell

    Malik Monk

    Luke Kennard or Malik Beasley

We need to revamp our guard position, so we can open thing up for Paolo and Franz.

I feel for Paolo and Franz, management and coach hoping they will carry this team completely. There is zero consistency offensively from anyone else. What a waist.

I wish someone would explain why a lottery pick who actually has offensive skills is not allowed to play. It’s mind boggling at this point.

I hope Jett works out. Because Keyonte George would've been the perfect guard to pair with Paolo and Franz. He's balling out in Utah. He remind me of Garland.

Thats funny I think the same way with Cole. He hit two shots and waived Paolo off for his third (which he missed).  I knew that third **** was going up no matter what. I think MJ could be out there and Cole would tell him “I got this.”

Yeah, I don't think he fits with this squad anymore. I think he knows it, too. Which is why he forcing things whenever he gets the ball.

They need to revamp the guard position this off-season. Suggs and Black are the only locks for next season. Malik Monk should be at the top of their list in FA. Simons, too, if he becomes available.

  9. SVP and Legler just had a whole segment on SC about the Magic. Talking Paolo and Franz being 6'10 play making wings. Also, had nice thing to say about Suggs. But they did spend a lot of time talking about our lack of 3pt shooting. Pretty much said that's an area the other top teams can burn us at. Weltman needs to fix that this off-season.

    Bi polar much?  Lol

if Paolo and Franz were not as good as they are or not here, this team would be challenging Detroit for last. Thank goodness. This team needs a real point guard to take them to elite level. Oh and a coach who knows offensive concepts. I think they could make it past the first round this year with Isaac healthy, past that would be a small miracle.

I agree. The turnovers are very telling. Outside of Fultz we don't have a guard that put pressure on the rim. Suggs can barely get pass his man, and when he does he rarely gets to the rim. Teams are going to try to expose this in the playoff. Paolo has to tighten his handle. He tend to get the ball poke from him a lot, and he has to stop with the jump passes. He just needs to take the shot in those situations. Hopefully, Fultz knee strengthen up over these next couple of weeks, because I think we're going to need him to close out games for us.

  11. We need a lead guard. Weltman really has to reshape this roster this off-season. We need guys that can't get there own shot and put the ball in the bucket. That will really open thing up for Paolo. The lack of spacing is so obvious. Teams aren't threaten by our shooters, so they just pack the paint.

A guy like Simons would do wonder for this team. He has to change his approach on these defensive minded, offensively challenge prospects, and bring in guys that can score. Balance it out.

Franz looks way off tonight. Forcing everything

Franz been forcing things a lot all season, which is why his percentages are down across the board this season. He plays better playing off Paolo. He gets into trouble when he tries to initiate the offense more times than not.

  13. Keyonte George would've been the perfect guard for the Magic. He would've complemented Suggs in the backcourt, too. He was giving it to Suggs tonight. I think we drop the ball on that pick. I read they were high on George, too.

All and all, very good game. Jazz were hitting some big shot, which kept them in the game. But Paolo took over down the stretch and Suggs hit some big shots to close out the game. Markelle played his part in the win, too. Entertaining game.
