Yeah as I’ve been saying Sharpe came from no data …why he went 7 …he wanted to go first in the draft …Paolo was drafted onto a team that was awful …therefore they needed his scoring and he got minutes, shots and an offense run through him …was tailor made to win ROY cause it’s based on numbers …so was no doubt who should have won

Last 10 games of Portland season Sharpe got to have the offense run through him …just like Banchero …he put up numbers decisively higher …some of those games were against teams vying for playoff positioning …I have no reason to think he can’t duplicate that with the same parameters …lastly, Sharpe’s defense may not be great …but Banchero was part of that 10 game or so barrage of teams breaking records on us shooting the 3 …took our team out of playin contention …pretty sure he ain’t winning any DPOY awards anytime soon …defense was one of the biggest criticisms of him by the heavyweight sportswriters .

Long way to go for this determination …

Sharpe turned it on when teams were either packing it up preparing for the playoff or tanking. So you have to take some of that with a grain of salt. Love his game, though, but still behind the top 3 from his class. Jabari and Chet both have out-perform him this summer. Keegan Murray, too. He's more in line with Ivey and Mathurin than he is with the top 4.

Yeah I’m not buying the Big 3 will be the best …time will tell imo …I mean, this is a kid who came straight from EYBL and a couple summer HS all star games to do what he’s doing now professionally …he just turned 20 a month ago …I mean, Givony himself comparing the kid to Anthony Edwards and that kid still has a lot more developing to do himself …no college or G League for Sharpe …and since he came out of nowhere to be number 1 in his class I think he’s hungry ….the Covid year he got in the gym and just worked his ass off to get where he is now .

To be clear my opinion is he’ll pass them all …you see what Givony said about why he “could” be the best ….he has to develop first but the talent is second to no one …and Givony confirmed .

That's pretty cool. Big fan of his game, too. But Paolo took one of Coach K's worst teams in recent memory, and put them on his back and led them to the Final Four. That ain't nothing to sneeze at. I think he has a high upside, but I'm still taking Paolo and Chet over him. Jabari and him are a coin toss for me, at the moment. Because I expect a big year from Jabari this season. He clearly was the best second year player in SL.

  3. Yeah, the way they constructed their summer league rosters have did no favors for Black, Jett and Houstan. We got a bunch of turnover prone chucker that don't play winning basketball. At least Black and Jett are both taking the right approach, by making the extra pass, and not just chuck in up shots.

I feel Weltman needs to do a better job with our "farm system". We get three two-way players this year, hopefully he makes use of them. I mean using our second round pick would've been a good start to that process. We passed on some really good developmental prospects the pass two years. I still tight about us passing on Jaden Hardy last year.

Agree about 6 for Cason …but 6 was AB ceiling …we could have traded but didn’t …sure you know I’m not the only one that’s said if he’s gonna be off ball a lot he’s not the ideal pick for us …we shall see

6 wasn't AB ceiling, 5 was. The Jazz and Wizards were both trying to jump in front of us to get Black, but the Pistons were high on Ausar. I knew Black was our guy once I seen that report.

I think Udoka is a good coach to put together these pieces as he did a good job doing so in Boston - but I agree: Tons of talent and will take a Denzel in Remember the Titans type of inspiration to get these "me first" players to buy in and play cohesively.

If he can get Green, Porter Jr., and Whitmore to buy in, then Houston will be a problem in a year or two.

I kind of wish they didn't sign VanVleet, so Amen could be thrown to the fire. I like his game alot. I believe they had Black higher on their board than Ausar, but I think Amen was higher than Black. The kid a stud.

I imagine Williams wanted to start, which he wasn't going to do here. Might have been a deal-killer from the get-go as I would have rather had Williams at $14M / year than an aging Ingles at $11M / year. Or maybe for the Magic it really was about keeping cap flexibility as our core players come off their rookie deals.

    This.

Was just reading up on Dele …dude was a head case …said he hardly played in his 2 seasons with the Magic …I remember reading about some incident he had driving a car and some bridge .

Those guys were tough guys for sure …played hard …and I love that team cause we came from nothing …but not even close to the talent that was on our team last year .

Shaq had a floor general veteran in Skiles, who made everybody job easier. Paolo had a second year guy in Franz, who was playing out of position, running point for the first 25 games of his career. Franz looked extremely uncomfortable in that role, and his number took a dip during that period, too. If, we had one of Cole or Fultz during that stretch were in the play-in.

And as far as how many lottery picks we had on our team, it's irrelevant.

I never saw any writer claim he was the best …most all the sites had the big 3 fairly even and then everybody else …since they were fairly even he had the top 3 teams picking on fit …which was why Jabari was earmarked for us …cause he can shoot the 3 and Banchero was not adept at that in college and was worse in the pros …and well, we still suck at shooting threes after his first year

It started to change back to Paolo when he put one of Coach K weakest teams on his back, and led them to the Final Four. Something your boy Chet don't know about.

Also, Rafael Barlowe had Paolo #1 on his board for the longest.

Lol… At this point around the league, Harris is worth a 2nd, Suggs might be worth a mid first (at best), and Black is a complete unknown. Meanwhile, Herro is about to hit his prime, close to an all star, and locked up on a decent deal. Yes, I’d do that deal. However, I don’t think it’d be enough for Portland.

Herro is nowhere near an all star. The Heat actually got better once he got hurt. It's a reason Portland doesn't want him back in return. His value took a big hit once Miami went on that run without him.

basically Cole, Harris, 2024 Top 3-5 protected pick and Denver pick..

yeah i’d do that for either Herro or Simons if we get involved in the Lilliard trade

His trade had Black, Suggs and Harris. That's getting fleeced for a return of Herro. Reminds me of the Ibaka trade.
