Shouldn't matter anyways, the Pistons don't even need AI to beat the Raptors. I recall watching a nationally televised game last season where your bench laid a smackdown on their starters for nearly a full game. Keyword, last season. The Raptors are alot better this year. Indeed, with the addition of O'Neal completely outweighing the departure of Ford, Delfino, Garbajosa, Nesterovic, etc. they are clearly a better team. *sigh* Nah, with making the best PG in the east the full-time starter, and with the addition of O'Neal having an impact on Bosh (who playing like a MVP candidate), and add to the fact that the team is a year older, and that my friend makes the Raptors a better team.

I do think the pg needs some size to defend a passing lane. I don't think that the list I made is not attainable. I think there are at least 10 other pg's I'd like to have over Nelson. Nelson is average and should not have gotten the money he did. Nelson is going to have good nights and make everyone scratch their heads. But, it's only going to be against pg's around the same height, slower then him, or off their own game. Ok, I like a good challenge. Name any 10 point guards, not just current ones: any point guard in league history, and I will prove to you, by your own standards, that they are substandard point guards for our team needs. And as a bonus, just to keep you from making an obvious pick that would fail: Chris Paul is too short. So 10 more from there. This should be hilarious. Too easy: M. Johnson 13 19.5 7.2 11.2 24.1 O. Robertson 14 25.7 7.5 9.5 23.2 I. Thomas 13 19.2 3.6 9.3 18.1 J. Stockton 19 13.1 2.7 10.5 21.8 B. Cousy 14 18.4 5.2 7.5 19.8 W. Frazier 13 18.9 5.9 6.1 19.1 J. Kidd 13 14.5 6.7 9.2 18.9 T. Archibald 13 18.8 2.3 7.4 18.0 S. Nash 11 14.0 2.9 7.6 19.9 G. Payton 17 16.3 3.9 6.7 18.9 Ok, this is unbelievably easy. By your standard, they should be at least 6'2", has speed, a good defender, capable of penetration, a good outside shooter, good vision, good distributer. So the reasons these point guars are sub-par by your standards are as follows: Magic Johnson - had no range on his shot until late in his career. Not great at penetration, and instead played a lot out of the post(for obvious reasons). Also, not a good defender. Oscar Robertson - not a great defender or shooter. Stockton - too short. Slow. Not a good penetrator. Isiah Thomas - too short. Prototype shoot-first pg. Almost no range on his shot. Bob Cousy - too short. Shot awful percentages by modern standards. Never averaged over 10apg despite playing at a pace of well over 110 possessions a game, indicating a lack of court vision. Slow and unathletic. Walt Frazier - Not quick. Limited range. Jason Kidd - terrible shooter even in his prime. Not fast. Tiny Archibald - short. No outside shot. And it's not one of your requirements per se, but we are talking about a player who once averaged 26.3 fga per game for a season. Steve Nash - can't defend a lampshade. Gary Payton - not quick. Weak outside shooter. That was fun. Man, those guys all suck. That got to be the post of the year. How could you say Magic, wasn't a great penetrator, when that was a big part of his game.

  11. from Kyler chat.. quote: Ricardo in Brazil:Hey, Steve. How are you? Do you feel that Magic are back on track or still early to say? Steve Kyler: No... The Magic are the furthest from the track they could be without being 0-4... The Bulls 2nd unit killed them, they were lucky to win the game... they had 19 turnovers and shot 40% from the field... they have Philly up tomorrow and unless they make some huge adjustments, they are gonna get run out of the building... It will be interesting to see what adjustments Stan makes. quote: Tyler in St Louis, MO:Hey Steve, what do you think is the biggest reason for the Magic's slow start? Lack of preparation? No motivation? Some other -ation? Steve Kyler: Lack of preparation?... come on, we're talking Stan Van Gundy... if anything they are over prepared. I think its a couple of things... first having too much confidence that you can beat teams... Stan wants 48 minutes of effort, he's getting about 30 minutes and those 18 minutes of slacking off and letting up are killing them... The other is they are turning the ball over too much, some of that comes from trying to "work" guys in, like MP and JJ Redick - when the magic go to Bogans they are a better team because Keith knows where he's supposed to be. quote: Tyler in St Louis, MO:With Marbury seeming to stick in NY, where do the Magic look for a 3rd PG? Is Crittenton still an option? Steve Kyler: Crittenton is not an option... that door is long been closed... Not sure there is a guard out there that fits the Magic's situation, they are not going to pay Luxury tax and the assets they would trade - Cook and Redick - won't return anything of real value. quote: Tyler in St Louis, MO:If the Magic continue to struggle, how long before Otis puts Hedo on the fishing line to see what he could get? Steve Kyler: Not gonna happen... I know it makes sense from a fan perspective, but Hedo is the engine for Stan and I do not see him changing that mid-stream, too much of the system is built around Hedo... They spent the entire month of September in the gym working on offense, thats all wasted effort if you trade Hedo. quote: Tyler in St Louis, MO:What is a more pressing need for the Magic - PG or PF? Steve Kyler: Playmaker at any position... The Magic are getting killed because they stall offensively and they turn the ball over. quote: Tyler in St Louis MO:How can the Magic fix their struggling bench? Steve Kyler: I think your starting to see some changes... I think Anthony Johnson is doing a great job, Courtney Lee and Keith Bogans are doing solid work as well... Tony Battie has to do more, but JJ getting 13 minutes a game and going 0-fer, doesn;t help your bench numbers. quote: Tyler in St Louis MO:How long before Courtney Lee is the primary back-up at the 2 spot for the Magic? Steve Kyler: Thursday?... no seriously, Stan is and rightly should play the matchup... no one outside of Dwight, Turk and Rashard are guaranteed anything... the rest of the roster should be decided on a game to game basis on whatever matchups give the Magic the best chance to win... Stan should sit his team down and say - Our goal is Championship, and tonight Dwight-AJ-Shard and Courtney will start... next game same thing - Our goal is championship and tonight Dwight-Tony-MP-Jameer and Turk are gonna start.... Until you find that winning combination no one should be"grandfathered" into anything on a 2-2 team. quote: Tyler in St Louis MO:You have long said that if the Magic struggle early, they may look to move Hedo. If that were to happen, what sort of return would they likely look for? Steve Kyler: No what I said was you do not even consider trading Hedo... the only time you even think about it if at the 20 game mark your not 15-5... we're at the 4 game mark... The Magic need a true play making guard (sixth man type) and a young power forward that can grow with Dwight.... To me, and this is simply me... Portland offers up Channing Frye and Steve Blake... Hedo is packing... but thats me. Otis Smith and I rarely see the league the same way. quote: James in Orlando, FL:I was impressed by Courtney Lee's debut Monday night. What were your thoughts? Do you think he will continue to play while JJ rides the pine? What does this mean for Redick's future with the Magic? Steve Kyler: Future... does JJ have a future with the Magic?... look JJ is gonna see the floor again, he just needs to relax and start playing loose like he did in Pre-Season... Courtney played good for a rookie tossed into the fire against some of the best guards in the east... got shoot better, but once he gets used to playing against all-stars, and stops smiling so much, he'll be fine.

Hinrich's contract is also structured to move lower each year, and with the Bulls draft selection of Rose, they may be thrilled to move Kirk's contract off their books. Right now they are paying the LT. That situation only gets worse for them next year when they will need to fill 7 roster spots and will only be 12-14 million under the LT level. You must also take into consideration that the Bulls at some point will be without the services of Gordon, Hughes, or both. Deng could slide to the SG spot with Hedo playing the 3. In order for the Bulls to take Hedo, they'll have to find a taker for Nocioni, because they just made Deng there franchise player, and it wouldn't make sense to have all that money tied into one position, when the team needs a low post scorer. That why I think the next trade might be Al Harrington for Kirk Hinrich.

Simmons is a young big with potential who could be a very good PF. The Bulls get rid of Hinrich's salary and they may be one of the teams interested in JJ as a player (hence the 2nd year of his contract). Not sure if they would want Hedo, since Deng is a SF, but he has played PF as well, with some success. The big thing here is salary dump for them. Terrible. If you are going to trade with Chicago then they need to take Battie/Cook not Hedo. They would probably want a first rounder especially considering they are getting no real value aside from contracts that expire after 09-10. I really do not follow alot of college ball so somebody would have to tell me what would hold more value. Hinrich at his current contract or one of the guys the Magic could draft in say the 20ish range. There should be alot of good PG available in the 20ish range, but since Otis is making the calls, I'll say it pretty much 50/50.

Dwight is pretty good friend with Lucus too. really? I didnt know that...well, Lucas isnt anything special NBA wise, a step below Wilks IMO, but the waiver waters are shallow so...he might be the guy... Yeah. Dwight, J.R. Smith, and Lucus all ran a basketball camp together in Jersey the year they were drafted.
