19. Golden State Warriors Jett Howard Michigan SG/SF Age: 19.7 Howard's draft range starts around No. 11 (Orlando), with plenty of teams looking for shooters with size, skill and feel that will likely consider him, including Toronto (No. 13), Utah (No. 16), and the Lakers (No. 17). He's an extreme contrast in ability, from what he showed early in the season until late of it when he played through an injury. If not Howard, the Warriors could look at other prospects who fit their style of play. The appetite for taking on more projects will likely be limited due to their narrow window for maximizing the prime of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and others. Sources tell ESPN the Warriors are also exploring the option of acquiring a high draft pick in exchange for a young prospect such as Jonathan Kuminga -- Givony Givony knew all along.

The Payton comparison is lazy. He's already a much better prospect as an Freshman than Payton was as an Junior. Plus, the kid didn't start playing basketball full-time until after his Junior year of high school, and been one of the fastest risers ever since. Payton did damage in the Sunbelt conference, he did his on the biggest stages (Maui, SEC, NCAA Tournament)., which is two totally different levels.

Homerism. Black had a better season than Wallace, which is way he was always ranked ahead of him throughout the whole season. Black was the best player in the Maui tournament, which is the best preseason tournament in the college basketball. Plus, he was easily the best player UConn faced on their tournament run.

It's cool if you don't have faith in them, but it's a bit weird when you say "they didn't get the guy they wanted", when it's clear as day these two were guy they were targeted all along. Plus, the same guys that reported Cam Whitmore was falling, were the same ones that were saying the Magic, Wizard and Jazz were high on Black.
-
How so? Black has been their target for the past month. I believe his camp knew all along the Magic were his landing spot. Both the Jazz and Wizards were in talks with Detroit to jump in front of us to draft him. Utah has been in contact with the Pistons about trading up from Nos. 9 and 16, according to league sources, with rival teams of the belief the Jazz are searching to get above Washington’s eighth pick in order to select Arkansas guard Anthony Black. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/rumor-jazz-attempting-to-trade-up-in-draft-to-select-anthony-black/ar-AA1cNOO3 And as for Howard, it was reported some weeks back that he had a good workout for them and that they were high on him. I mean Grady and Hawkins ( two of the best shooters in this draft) were still on the board. So it's clear they had a higher grade on Howard than they did them. So I don't understand how they didn't get who they wanted, when the two guys they drafted were the two guy they were targeted all this time.

I liked this kids game after watching him ball out in the Maui tournament. But this was the game where I fell in love with his game. He was the sole reason UConn didn't win this game by 40. The kid was a menace on both ends of the floor.
-
This draft was a crapshoot after the top 3 picks. Black was the BPA, so I don't see how we "failed" in that regard. Both the Wizards and Jazz were trying to jump in front of us for Black. So I don't understand what the fuzz is all about.

Black had an 40' inch vertical at the combine

Vassell is a core piece for the Spurs. He's pretty much untouchable. He's the perfect fit next to Wemby.

I doubt Jabari a buy-low candidate after finishing the season strong. Shot and rebounded the ball very well down the stretch.

I feel like there's a couple of different routes we can take in this draft. We can go the route the Phoenix Suns went, when they drafted Mikel Bridges and Cam Johnson - two plug and play guys who were ready to play a role day one. The other route is to draft for upside, and the last one is to go 1 and 1 - one upside and one plug and play guy. So here our three scenarios: Plug and Play - #6. - Grady Dick, #11. - Jordan Hawkins Upside - #6. Ausur Thompson, #11 - Dereck Lively 1 and 1 - #6. Ausur Thompson, #11. Jordan Hawkins/Carson Wallace One thing for sure, this draft will let us know were they think we our as a Franchise.
-
I think Hawkins shooting will translate more than any other prospects in this class. He's the best shooter on the move in this class, and probably the best in a while. A lot of those prospects you've listed were spot up, stationary shooter.
-
I'm definitely coming around to Lively at 11, especially if Grady isn't there. I think he could be a more athletic version of Kessler. Extremely raw on the offensive side, though.
-
I know people on this board want Austin Reaves ( I want him, too), but I think Rui Hachimura is a more realistic option. He's everything we're hoping Chuma to be, and I think there's still some untapped potential in his game. I know the Lakers want both back, but I think they have a higher priority on Reaves, so I believe they'll be more willing to let Ruin walk.

The San Antonio Spurs won the NBA Draft lottery and the right to select Victor Wembanyama with the ping pong ball combo 14, 5, 8, 2. The Portland Trail Blazers held the combination 14, 5, 8, 3. They missed by just one number on the final ball.
-
Fred Katz @FredKatz Just emerged from the drawing room of the lottery, where San Antonio didn’t just win the first pick. Spurs got drawn TWO more times in the lottery, so they had to redo multiple picks. Destiny was on their side tonight
-
Portland is the most interesting team in the lottery. If they keep the pick, keep Dame and Charlotte drafts Miller, do they draft Scoot? If so, then that'd leave Simons as the odd man out, and I think we should jump on that and bring him back home. But in all, I think they should trade Dame and Nurkic and build around a young core of Sharpe, Simons and Scoot/Miller.
-
Dan Savage @Dan_Savage The @OrlandoMagic had the first three numbers that came up in the @NBADraft Lottery combo for the No. 1 overall pick, but were off on the last one
-
Nah, it's more like a top 3 draft, which is why Detroit and Houston are sick right now. I think we should package 6 and 11 to Portland for 3 and one of their bad contract.
-
Philly made out alright in that deal, because we ended up trading them back their draft pick, which ended up being Tyrese Maxey.
-
Jordan Hawkins. He's like a more athletic version of Desmond Bane. The kid is silky smooth.
-
This Mosley guy ain't it. I always felt we should have given Becky Hammon a shot.

Mitchell is Gilbert Arenas. You don't mess up your rebuild for those type of players, especially the price you'll have pay. Guys like that need to be pair with a bonafide #1 in order for your team to be successful, which is why Miami is the perfect fit for him. If he wound up here, he would stunt the growth of both Paolo and Franz and we can't afford that. Luka and Tatum are the only two players that I'd blow the rebuilding project up for.
