  1. I think all of us in general underrate Arroyo's ability to play defense. Normally when I watch him, he's excellent at forcing his man to give up their dribble or even lose their dribble(not saying Arroyo is Iverson , but he's done a solid job on breaking up plays at the perimeter and causing some turnovers). This season Arroyo has played good defense, but everyone focuses on Arroyo on offense. Another note is Arroyo's flopping. We don't notice it a lot cause Los gets 16-18 minutes a game. Arroyo has played in Europe and internationally in FIBA,so he has developed good flopping/acting/selling it to the ref skills. He's our best flopper, and that can be a tool for us, cause we lack floppers meaning we're not going to get alot of calls our way. At the beginning of the season, when Arroyo came off the bench; he was playing for himself and not the team. He didn't really play with a lot of passion which made his effectiveness invisible. Now recently, for a while Arroyo became what Jerry Sloan and Larry Brown wanted him to be when he was in Utah and Detroit; a pass first playmaking PG. Arroyo has been finding Dwight very beautifully, for alley oops off the pick and roll. Arroyo CONSISTENTLY finds out perimeter guys for 3. Arroyo missed out on 20-25 assist the recent games because our guys are missing open shots they're suppose to hit. Its okay though, Arroyo GETS it and now can help this team's success optimally. The only thing I question about Arroyo is his work ethic. I say this because Arroyo misses a lot of lay ups or gets blocked, and doesn't draw a foul up to his ability. Maybe if Arroyo would work harder, he would improve as a finisher. Arroyo has the ability to beat his man off the dribble and go to the basket, its just a matter of FINISHING! That would make Carlos the most complete PG on the team. I wouldn't mind Arroyo as a starter, isn't he really productive as a starter anyway? Or when he gets 24 minutes or more. Wasn't Jameer more of a scoring play making PG in college? I rather have Jameer play in his own element and create with his scoring, his passing ability is limited. Arroyo has good chemistry with Dwight and Hedo, let the passer play with the primary scorers. Allow Jameer to be the play maker off the bench. Carlos is a crowd favorite who can get our silence audience rowdy and loud for once. Thats my solution.

    Team

Arroyo Bogans Lewis Turk Howard Its simple.
  3. Right now, Reddick is a C- level player. He has cow piss defense, doesn't have a presence on offense, just stays around the perimeter. He is what he is. Howard = A+(97) Rashard = B+(86) Hedo = B-(81) Nelson = C+(79) Arroyo = C+ (78) Dooling = C+(77) Bogans = C+(76) Evans = C(74) Foyle = C(74) Cook = C- (71) Redick = C- (72) Thats what were are, and we have great chemistry. I honestly wouldn't mind trading JJ for a banger, we could use another big man off the bench to take the pressure and physicality off Dwight. Dwight is a one man show in the paint, doesn't get a lot of help from his teammates (we could really use some slashers and bangers)
  4. We looked great in the beginning, when we're hitting the 3pt shots. We got soft on the Pacers in the 2nd half of the game, and Pacers took advantage. We got cold and couldn't come back. Dwight - excellent game, could of got more touches, but we were too busy chucking up cold bricks. Bogans - missed a lot of open shots, defense wasn't up to his ability of d. Lewis - has to attack the basket more. He's 5-5 from the FT and shoots way over 80% from the FT. If he drives to the basket more it would optimize our offense completely. Turk - Had an overall terrible game. 3-15 FG...1-7...was totally wreckless, a blackhole on offense, got dominated by Granger and played soft defense, he had 6 turnovers. Can't get any work than that. Nelson - nothing spectacular, nothing terrible. His defense wasn't there, but it never is. Evans - played great and gave us a spark Dooling usually gives us off the bench(where the hell was Kenyon? his defense would be great to have) Arroyo - was passing like crazy; creating shots off the pick and roll, cross guys up to get the ball to the open man. He only took two shots tonight. Is the only Magic with Howard who had a + tonight, everyone else has a - Had 6 assist, could of have 12 assist if we hit our shots. Van Gundy finally got into Arroyo's head, look like we got a pass first PG folks. Foyle - was wonder why he didn't get any more minutes. He would of matched up well in this type of game. He had 3 offensive rebounder, a block shot, and was playing good defense. I don't know, its been a weird night. Hopefully Van Gundy will see what most of us seen tonight.

Poll: Travis Diener - Magic Killer?

a PG very limited in ability, passing skills are overrated. The hell with Diener.
  6. So far everyone is wrong about Nelson, Dooling and Arroyo.

FANS GAME THREAD * Magic @ Lakers * Dec. 2nd

****, prayers to Arroyo and his really young daughter, she's not even two years old. Jameer is going through emotional pains too...SVG is right, there are more important things than basketball; we could just hope for the best for our guys.
  8. Kenny Smith is the man...and is a good announcer for the Knicks. He keeps it real and honest, and has no bias.

He has great chemistry with the starters and is a pass first player when he's playing with that rotation. He's developing amazing chemistry with Dwight, and is always finding the open man on the 3pt line(unfortunately they haven't been going in lately). When Arroyo normally comes off the bench, he tries to do everything. I prefer him playing the role he has now has the disher/creator. Jameer is slumping, but its not time to give up on him yet, he should remain starter till he gets out of his slump. But props to Arroyo for adjusting his style for the better of the team. Are you kidding me??! Arroyo has one good game and suddenley he is a pass first PG??! Every time I see him play he chucks up shots and often kills the chemistry. Jameer has been awesome this season and has a couple of bad games while injured and suddenley Arroyo after one good game is starting material! Jeez I thought everyone accepted Carlos' role here Unfortunately your a bias Arroyo hater thats not open to facts, just anything that supports your hate for Arroyo. Listen up kid, I said Arroyo is more pass-oriented when he plays with the starters. When he comes off the bench, he tries to do much(his role in the Olympics), and most of the time gets him back on the bench. When Arroyo is playing smart and with passion, the offense looks good. When Arroyo is playing with no energy and dominates the ball; he gets sent back to the bench, this is the Arroyo we don't want to see. Arroyo had a couple of good games himself, so don't gas yourself up. I don't want a line up change but it is not time for changes right unless injuries happened. But Arroyo is definitely showing he can play in crunch time with the A-squad, this is good news because our bench before was terrible. Now guys like Redick, Evans, and Foyle's post defense are coming alive and clicking well together. Despite us losing a bull**** game in Phoneix, we still look **** good, and I'm pretty confident we'll impress again in Los Angeles.

Why do you insist on bashing Lewis?

Lewis helps spread the floor which makes things much easier for Dwight. Its just a matter of time Lewis' shots will go in.

Notice how they post in the same topic most of the time, and don't in others. :o They're probably praying for Arroyo to fail against the Lakers so they can make a comeback and bash him again.

D12 needs to be rested more

We could use another back up big man...I never liked Cook in LA...We just need another banger off the bench. Please sign and trade for Varejao...deal Dooling or somebody.
  14. quote: Originally posted by The Ghost of John Gabriel: quote: Originally posted by sharp[7]shooter:i always knew arroyo could put up a ratio like that! ****, arroyo has amazing ball handling skills and can drop a dime through the smallest windows. A true PG performance. Many of his previous games, i've seen him look for a mid range shot or one of his favorite off-balance jumpers, but this game against the sonics, he enlightened me to a whole new carlos arroyo. The fast, agile, pass-first carlos arroyo. I've always said if a coach told Arroyo he wasn't allowed to shot, he had the potential to be a decent floor general. Fast however, is really pushing it. If Carlos didn't have a yo-yo handle, he wouldn't have a chance of playing in the NBA. Speaking of athleticism, I think Hollywood needs a remake titled Hispanics Can't Jump. I think JJ Redick has a higher vertical than all the Hispanics in the NBA combined. Al Horford? Guillermo Diaz? Carmelo Anthony is half Puerto Rican. My boy from the Bronx, Garcia is decently athletic, not below average. Arroyo was atheletic but he had too many leg injuries which decreased his speed and leaping ability. You don't even know what "athleticism" means anyway, so no one here is going to take you seriously. You're most likely the least athletic guy in the forum talking about athleticism while you munch on a bag of doritos. Take your ignorance stereotypes out of this thread.
