Round Two of the New NBA Playoffs

I think people are overestimating the Spurs. Yes, they have played decent ball lately but I'd still be surprised to see them making it out of the first round (in the real-life-playoffs).
  4. quote: Originally posted by emory889:The Celtics won't beat the Cavs in the series but they will beat the crap out of them. Win, lose, or draw the Celtics are going to hack, hold, and do whatever else they can get away with. The Cavs will have their fair share of bumps and bruises coming out of that series. Anyone that thinks we are getting a free ride simply because we are playing the Hawks is just being absurd. The Hawks have enough talent to give anyone a lot of trouble. I like this matchup but the Magic are still going to have to show up and play great in order to beat them. This. It's not about "free rides". It's about the current seeding being the best case scenario regarding 2nd round match-ups. As emory said, the Celtics will make sure to rough up the Cavs - more than any other team they could have faced in round two.

    Nets vs Bulls

quote: Originally posted by bigpimpatl:The Bulls are pathetic. They had the game wrapped up in the first overtime. They got lazy for one minute and devin harris made them pay. At this point I don't know who's worse: The Bulls or the Raps. It looks like the winner between them this sunday will make the playoffs. But god these two teams are just awful to watch sometimes. My thoughts exactly. I am actually rooting for the Bulls to get that final playoff spot but after losses to the Bucks (without Bogut) and the Nets I'm not quite sure they even deserve to make the playoffs. But then I look at the Bosh-less Raptors and I imagine that Rose/Deng/Noah at least could give the Cavs some fits.

It's kind of like reverse psychology, he's going to keep this NY thing going because he wants the Cavs to do everything they can to win him a championship. Personally I think it's smart. And if Lebron leaves due to talent, I'm not going to be upset at him, I'm going to be upset at our management, but if Lebron leaves for fame, money, or his ego then I'm going to be extremely upset by him because he says he loves this city, wants to win, etc... and it's a total tease if he were to leave just to play in NY. exactly. I see lebron signing another 3 year deal for this same reason. He is trying to light a fire under Cavs management trying to get them to improve the roster as much as possible. I guess it has worked so far. When you compare the 09-10 cavs roster to the one that made the finals, its astounding. God, that team was horrible. I see where you are going with the "reverse psychology" thing and I think it made sense before the trade deadline. But right now it's not like there is anything else management could do. The team is there and now it's up to the players and coaches to make things happen. I feel like Lebron committing to this team could boost everyone's confidence. But maybe that's just me... Anyway, thanks for your input.
  8. That was a real nasty fall and very very unfortunate. I got goose bumps when I saw it happen. I wish Bogut all the best for his recovery!
  9. Honest question to Cavs fans: The way I see it Lebron has everything he could ask for in Cleveland. Cavs Management has built a championship caliber team around him that has the best record in the NBA (second time in a row). The fan support is huge. Endorsement deals are being thrown at Lebron from every direction. And, he basically plays for his home-team (no other NBA city can offer him that). So why do you think he hasn't committed to signing a contract extension yet? I'm just asking because Kobe signed his extension yesterday and the way I look at it that is the ultimate sign of trust for his teammates. He's basically saying that he trusts management and his teammates to contend for the next few years and is therefore willing to remain a part of that team. Especially with the way the Lakers have "struggled" lately I think that Kobe's extension could be a boost for the team going into playoffs. I'm interested to read the opinions of Cavs fans. Are you OK with Lebron not committing (not even verbally)? What do you think he is waiting for? If he really intends to stay then why not just go ahead and say it?
  10. Otis has done a good job of bringing in cheap players that ended up playing above expectations. I'm sure he can do that again if necessary. That being said (and while I really like our depth chart) I think that both Gortat and Bass have very tradeable contracts and I'm sure they will be gone in the offseason if decent offers are presented. Also, don't forget that Vince will be a huge expiring contract at next year's deadline. I'm not saying a trade that involves him will happen but it might very well. Oh, and I don't think we have to worry about that 1st round pick being guaranteed. What's the salary for the 28th pick? $800.000? $900.000? That's really more of a chance to add cheap talent that it is a problem. I guess a lot of what will happen in the offseason depends on our playoff run. So let's enjoy that one first. We'll have a long offseason to talk about next year's roster.

    RICK'S RANT OWNS LEBRON!

quote: Originally posted by davcivic:Jordan was a different kind of arrogance. I mean he still tried to keep it classy. I don't know. Maybe the fact that I was 12 or so when he played has something to do with my image of MJ. Same here. I guess one could call Jordan "arrogant" but then I think we'd need a stronger word for Lebron. I find some of Lebron's actions not only arrogant but also ridiculous (the dancing and hand-shakes). I definitely agree with everything Kamla said. Here's something else I noticed: Both the Cavs and Heat are our rivals (and Miami has been an inner-state rival long before Lebron helped the Cavs back into the playoffs) still I get the impression that most Magic fans actually like Dwyane Wade while they really dislike Lebron. There just is something about Lebron's personality and attitude...

Rashard has always been a very soft guy when rebounding or going to the basket, he knows he screwed up majorly this time, and maybe that will harden him up for the play offs. This whole situation reminds me a lot of . I hope they learn from it this time and won't allow it to happen again. This loss doesn't mean too much as we have pretty much locked up the 2nd seed. In the playoffs though a loss like that could be crucial.

    Official Playoff seedings thread

Yes, those are some nice first round match-ups. But wouldn't you rather have Atlanta clinch the 3rd seed and let Boston and Cleveland duke it out in the second round?
