To me it seems that Riley is really really really concerned about his coaching record. Always stepping down when the Heat plays like **** and then returning as a coach when the team is on an upward trend. I have to agree with Colombiano: I see Riley returning as a coach if Miami lands a big name free agent this off-season. Otherwise he'll probably stick to his GM job.

    Bulls fire Del Negro

Yes, the players were behind Del Negro but there were rumors of him being fired ever since last December. So this is not really surprising. I'm not saying Del Negro is a bad coach but if they don't cut ties with him now the rumors will flare up again every time the Bulls go on a bad stretch. It will be a distraction to the team all over again. I'm waiting to see who they go after before I decide for myself whether this is a bad move or not. To me it will definitely be a bad move if the Bulls hire a coach with zero experience again.

    Cavs vs Celtics

Just watched the postgame presser. Man, Mike Brown was pissed! I like how he said: "Lebron's elbow is fine. Neither him nor his trainers said anything to me. If it is bothering him then it's news to me."

    new magic logo

Nice find, RevTy. IMO, that is a bit "too much plain-text, too little logo" (if that makes any sense). I can live with it... Though I will miss the old font that read "Orlando".

This is pretty much how I see it... if Stern really wanted to control things, he would probably do his best to make LeBron hate the Cavs so much that he would bolt to the Knicks (Stern's team...). How do you do that? Make him lose in the 1st/2nd round of the playoffs. Even if the league works that way I don't think that Stern wants to see Lebron in New York by all means. New York is a big market team regardless of Lebron. The Knicks have been sucking for ten years now but they are still doing fairly well (plus now they have a lot of money). Cleveland on the other hand is nothing without Lebron. If Lebron leaves the Cavs all the media hype and a lot of the 'fans' will be gone from Cleveland.

    new magic logo

quote: Originally posted by MagicKnightsBucs:Its a lot cleaner looking and more simpler than this one. Lets just say they want to get away from the Magical look, ie. the stars in the primary logo. They are doing it for the new arena because they want a "new" look. The current secondary logo will now be primary, thats why everything within the past year has the shooting ball. Also there is new NBA wide jersey material so technically new jerseys too. Where did you read/hear that? If they are changing it I hope they don't mess with it too much. If anything they should go back to our old logo, IMO. A lot of teams messed with their logos in the past and eventually ended up going old school again (Pistons, Sixers, Jazz, Sonics). I'm really not into all the logo changes throughout the league. That's one thing I like about franchises like Chicago, L.A., Boston and N.Y. - they only tweaked their logos/jerseys slightly throughout team history.

    We got Atlanta

**** it, the Bucks could have at least covered the spread... Oh well, Milwaukee can take pride in what it has achieved this year. With Bogut in the lineup that probably would have been an upset for the Hawks.

He compares SVG to Phil Jackson & Pat Riley for one measely comment? Why so hypersensitive David? Message seems clear, I make you all a lot of $, **** or else I will end the gravy train for you! Yes, the current situation is pretty messed up. For me, the fact that nobody is allowed to criticize the bad calls is even worse than the bad calls themselves.

Personally, (while I'm not a big fan of David Stern) I don't know how much stock I can put in the comments of an ex-referee who bet on games and went to jail for it. People said the same thing about Jose Canseco. After 'googling' that name I'm guessing you're referring to the steroid scandal. Please excuse my ignorace when it comes to baseball but I really know too little about what happened there in order to compare the two situations. Jose Canseco was the first player to get really hammered by baseball for steroids. He then wrote a tell all book and mentioned names of players taking steroids. Nobody took him seriously because everyone figured he just didn't want to look like the only guy juicing (like how Stern says Donaghy was a lone rogue). Over the years all of the names Canseco mentioned in his book have been proven to have juiced. Some notable names: Barry Bonds Mark McGwire Sammy Sosa Alex Rodriguez Manny Ramirez Roger Clemens Everyone has been proven guilty of steroids with the exception of Bonds technically, but even he is considered "OJ Simpson" guilty. Fair enough. As I said, I don't know how much stock I can put in his comments. Maybe they are true. Maybe they are false. Maybe I just want them to be false because I'd be really pissed if the league was rigged. Either way, thanks for enlighting me as to how that steroid scandal went down.

  14. I think Lebron is exaggerating that whole elbow-story a little bit. And unless he goes out there and comes up with a 25% (or similar) shooting night I believe he is just fine. He probably just likes the whole attention that he's getting again. Or maybe he wants to give Pierce some of his own medicine.

Dwight Fined 35k For Blog Comments!!

Even as bad as the calls were against Dwight were this series, nothing was as horrible as the call that happened in the Phoenix vs. Portland series nothing was as horrible as the call that happened in the Phoenix vs. Portland series. That was the worse call I've ever seen, well besides when Dwight cleanly blocked Lebron's 3 pointer. Who was the call on and what happened? Didn't see the game I don't think. This is absolutely ridiculous! With the stuff he has called in the past I'm tempted to say that Joey Crawford is the worst ref ever. I think I've seen better referees on high-school level. As for D12 and his fine, I certainly saw that coming - no surprise there. Though I don't think his comments were worthy of a fine. But then again, I thought the same about some of SVG's comments in the past.

    Foul On You

I like that he keeps bringing that topic up. Don't give in to Stern's threats!
  19. Not a great game but I'll gladly take the W.
  20. Time for Gortat to prove his worth.

    Official referee venting thread.

Current state of NBA officiating: - refs make bad calls - Stern doesn't want to hear a word about it - coaches and players are prohibited to talk about it

  24. Osprey, I understand your grading system and based on that I agree with most of the grades that you handed out. I think the "problem" here is that most people associate the grade C with mediocrity which doesn't apply for your grades. But because people automatically think "C=mediocrity" and "A=awsomeness" they naturally expect "higher" grades for Dwight and especially for our team. Maybe it would have helped if you had used a different scale. For example: -1=expectations not fulfilled 0=expectations fulfilled +1=expectations surpassed
