    While CP3 rumors swirl...

Out of curiosity, does anybody else see a team other than NO, WAS, or PHI that would want VC's expiring contract now? Obviously as we get closer to the deadline a few teams that look like contenders now may be willing to sell off pieces for expiring dollars. But as things stand at this moment. it looks like VC for Paul with additional throw ins, VC for Arenas, and VC for Iggy and Nocioni might be the only deals out there. I am mentioning this in this thread because I thought it pertained to the argument that is being made that it isn't the worst thing in the world if we keep Jameer and don't get Paul. But then it got me thinking, what is out there to obtain with VC's expiring, and it doesn't look like much at this moment.

Personally, I'm not sure why NO is balking at trading away CP3. 1) They have his replacement already inked for 3 more years at 1.5mil, a drastic savings on Paul's current contract. 2) If Paul remains with NO he only hurts Collison's development. 3) If Paul plays like anything other than the #1 PG in the league or has any additional injury setbacks this year it only hurts his trade value. 4) That organization is in financial ruin and with the current roster doesn't stand a chance to compete for a title. 5) They have several vets with trade value that could return multiple prospects/draft picks. 6) If a team is even remotely considering that it might be time to rebuild, and their marquee player is whining that he wants out, then it IS time to rebuild.

How much worse is Nelson than CP3?

CP3 could experience a resurgence. He could find himself in a more competitive situation, on a better team, with better coaching and components around him. The other three players could experience injury setbacks, etc. But regardless, I sure don't think it's a tremendous stretch to hypothesize that any one of the three best young PGs in the league could very soon overtake Paul as the best PG in the league.

Anybody else concerned that Paul might not be the player he once was due to his knee? Would you be satisfied trading for Paul if, due to the injury, he was only a top 5-6 PG in the league?

What does NY's W-L record look like with both Paul & Stat missing 18 games each?

I swear I said "somewhat decent".

I'm not sure the Hornets want to take on so many players either... NOLA would have only 12 players under contract (nearly all expiring or 2yr deals) and all of those players are very tradable assets that are young, cheap and with solid upside. They would essentially have an exciting young team with all the cap flexibility and assets needed so that they could trade for or acquire any free agent available to them. The players they get are better than draft picks as they all are on cheap 1-2 yr contracts plus they've already proven to be quality NBA level players some w/very big upside potential. You're ignoring the fact that the Knicks are trading away their entire roster....there is some people who believe they don't even want to trade Gallinari. The Knicks do it because it gives them a really solid core and position themselves to make a serious run at Carmelo...since they would be over cap they would have MLE & BAE + min...even if what they got wasn't super high quality the addition of Chris Paul would create a huge amount of excitement in NYC especially after the decision. MSG would be sold out every night. In addition they get the perfect complementary big to Stoudemire. Paul/Felton _____/______ _____/Posey Stoudemire/ Okafor/Mozgov they couldn't make a serious run at carmelo. The big three works in miami because they all took pay cuts. Paul and Amar'e make too much money. Carmelo would have to take something like 12 million a year to make it work. To make a run at carmelo they would have to be under the cap. they wouldn't have any exceptions. You don't think they could get rid of Posey's $8M expiring contract to get under. All they have to do is buy it out/move it for pennies on the dollar to get under the cap - the same thing they (and Miami) did the past 2 years. For this year all they have to do is sign more 1 yr contracts the same as they have the past 2 years to fill their roster. Let's say they can't get Carmelo, you don't think that if the Knicks have a chance of getting Paul there not going to get him cause they don't want to risk not getting Carmelo? Seriously?!...Chris Paul would be a huge acquisition for the Knicks? C'mon, we want the Magic to trade anyone not named Dwight including his best friend and team captain plus take on two ridiculous contracts at positions that we don't necessarily need to fill for CP3. Yet you can't see the NY Knicks organization trading away 5-6 contracts which they structured specifically for that type of acquisition . I want CP3 just like the rest but its pretty clear that the Knicks are the obvious best choice for NOLA and Paul. What are the Knicks trading away to get Paul, Okafor & Posey?????????

  16. FYI, the Wizards have two first round picks next year - their pick and CLE's pick. Anybody think CLE will be a playoff team without Lebron?

Shouldn't a significant injury like that be factored into an argument that determines the potential mileage of a player? It should, but I was only providing one side of the argument.

I responded to the last page that I had open on my computer before I left it sitting idle for the last two hours. Then I hit refresh and responded to a post on that page without realizing that there were 3-4 additional pages since then.
