Grant Hill was a big one, certainly, but a few teams in the running took a pass because they weren't sure his ankle was fully healed. It was originally supposed to be Hill and Duncan, but Dancan took a pass and went back to San Antonio. Tracy was interesting, but we didn't know he was going to be the NBA scoring leader. For 'Shard, and I love the guy since he got his start out here in Seattle, he may have gotten the biggest contract, but he wasn't exactly a top-five player even then. 'Shard was an awesome stretch-4, but hardly the best player in the league, as his salary suggested. Just because we PAY people top dollar doesn't necessarily mean they're WORTH it. For as long as it's been around, the Magic have been kind of a "development team" for great players. "Come here! Learn how to play! Have growing pains! Go play for the Lakers!" Hoping that dynamic has changed under Henny, but he also doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that builds teams like the Lakers or Miami: signing their way to a championship.

Everything you said. As for that last part, I think as long as you're losing close games, like that one last night, you can build off it. If you keep just losing games for a season, you know your players will probably be better the next year and more consistent, as well as having experienced a close loss. When you get blown out night after night, I think that's when you have to worry about that mentality of losing setting in, and that's real hard to get rid of.

Pretty much anyone in the East that are NOT the Heat know they don't have much, if any chance, so I think they're ALL tanking. Okay, not the Pacers, but do we really think the Pacers will take the Heat in a seven game series? Will anyone? Ugh - it's so painfully boring.

This. Again: the absolute worse scenario is that we hit the special kind of standing-hell we were in during the Tracy McGrady years. It was real painful to get bounced in the first round over and over and over and over. I'm fine with the tank and if we're going to do so, THIS is the year to do it, when the draft class 1-5 is all looking like very strong players.

Sheeeeeeet - that's WHY he should get more minutes. 1.) He'll learn the game faster, 2.) We'll suck more and get a higher draft pick. Win-win.
