What made him so special was the fact that our team had 'Shard and Dwight along with him, all over 6'10... No one could stop us (as we showed by making it to the Finals) If he does indeed sign with Portland he will not be the same player he was here in Orlando, book it. Hey VC Fan. Why dont you just support VC and Magic instead of making terrible statements about Hedo and his next team. We have never said a bad things for VC so far. Keep Classy ok? Give it a rest, will you? He simply expressed the opinion that Hedo's effectiveness over the last 2 years can be attributed to the fact that Dwight/Rashard garnered so much attention. How does that lack class? How is that an attack on Hedo? You are stating that any opinion that does not suggest that Hedo is an all-star lacks class. Thanks for your contribution.
  2. quote: Originally posted by ReeceGaines:Who made the right move, Pritchard in Portland, or Smith in Orlando? The question infers that one must be right and the other wrong. So the entire basis of this discussion is flawed. Both GMs are making moves based on their teams situations at that particular point in time. To suggest that one has to be right and the other wrong creates a fatally flawed discussion.

BTW, Bill Laimbeer will be their next coach.

    My Take

quote: Originally posted by Blackhennie:there is only one ball and we have the scoring we need. To take the next step we need defense and players to fit other roles. Bass would be the best option. I am a big supporter of his. He will give us the toughness, energy, rebounding, and size we need. I think that people over look the fact he has a good mid range game, is quick for his size and can guard multiple positions like Anthony Mason. I agree. He can be to this team what Horace Grant was to the '95 team.

Steve Kyler loves drama. Also, full of crap.

quote: Originally posted by crisby pancakes:Ok, being from England and not knowing too much about the local writers in Orlando it seems to me that the majority of them are idiots. I really dont understand why so many of them write plain old rubbish, most of what they write is conjecture. I guess I just don't understand why they don't write anything positive lol Ah, the history of Orlando sports writers... Their negativity started with their devoted affection (translated: mind-numbing obsession) with former coach Brian Hill. They hated Shaq, then Penny, then Gabriel, for mistreating this poor soul. Their elation at his 2nd hiring was inspirational (translated: downright gagging). Then, when everyone that had a basketball IQ above that of Tonya Harding were acknowledging that Brian Hill really was a basketball idiot, they still were crushed that the Magic would mistreat this giant of a coach with so much disrespect as to fire him a 2nd time. Hopefully, you feel the warmth and passion of this wonderful story.

How does everyone feel about Charlie Villanueva?

That about says it all, your source sucks Whaddyamean? That's the same quality publication that said that the Cavs were the best team in the East and destined for the Finals, and that Lebron was the best player in basketball. Oh, wait....

  11. quote: Originally posted by jmmagicfan: quote: Originally posted by DontPushMe:i really hope they have Bass ahead of Sheed. im worried that sheed has nothing left I hope not, unless you are specifically looking for bench help. I don't think you can play Bass at the PF with Dwight at the 5; he doesn't have a good enough mid-range, or 3-point range to open up the middle for Dwight. I don't agree with this logic. Horace Grant was the perfect compliment to Shaq because he could consistently hit the 18-20 footer. He did not have to go beyond the 3-point line to have that impact. That is what Battie was supposed to be, but he was so inconsistent with that shot, that he became a massive liability. There are good arguments for both players, and either would be an excellent addition. I'm only saying that the fact that a player can't hit the shot from beyond the arc does not mean that he can be left to double-team on Dwight. The key is that the player must be able to consistently hit a shot outside the paint, otherwise the defense will take their chances in leaving him. If you left Goggles, he would make you pay. Every time.

    Otis...Prove your worth...GO GET FRAN

Let's see.... Otis can either go after players and talent that have proven themselves at the NBA level, or.... Go after a player that embarrassed the organization, and has not been willing to come over and prove he can play in this league. Yeah, Otis, you have an opportunity to prove your worth here. Don't fail us now. And while you're at it, go back and get Billy Donovan and convince him to replace SVG. Same principle. C'mon, Otis, step up !!

Courtney Lee upset with Orlando-- Hoopsworld

quote: Originally posted by TreyTime:Wish I was in the Magic front office yesterday. I laughed when the Shaq trade was announced, but what did our guys do? Otis went Master of Panic on us and had to one up the Cavs in a trade. Let's trade the guy who missed the layup! GUARANTEE: Courtney makes that layup, he's still a Magic today. If only Hedo had made a better pass... BIGGER GUARANTEE: He didn't make that layup. You can blame it on Lee, Hedo, Kobe, the refs, the Fat Guy or Stuff. It doesn't matter. This trade was not made to get rid of Lee; it was to acquire Carter. I know the Nets should have been happy to get Foyle, Richardson and a Panera Gift Certificate for a nobody like Vince Carter, but what can you do.....
  15. quote: Originally posted by Kberto: quote: Originally posted by Mr Charisma: quote: Originally posted by SmackDaddy:Is anybody considering the fact that we just made this team a helluva lot tougher for Hedo to leave? Think about it. There are only 1-3 teams that can even afford Hedo at 10mil per season. Now we just traded away two backups and a prospect for an 8time all-star the year after we made the NBA Finals. Can anybody say with a straight face that Hedo will leave this team for an extra million or two now? That was my argument to Kberto early on. The pressure is now scarely on Hedo. I don't know why you want to keep Hedo. If you think this trade makes us deep, you're insane. It makes us thin and old. AJ is the back up PG again (ew). We still have PF woes. (Ryan Anderson might be 6'10, but he's a jump shooter that can't bang in the paint offensively or defensively) We don't know what's up with Gortat. Those are signifcant weaknesses right now. I don't see the point of not trading Hedo to get a little younger and to fill some holes. I don't really think we are disagreeing that much here. The Magic can now make a low-ball offer to him. If he accepts, then the Magic will be more willing to spend the full MLE to get the type of help you refer to. If he declines, then the quality of upgrade we should be able to pull off would be even higher up front. It seems like a no-lose situation now, relevant to Hedo.

  18. quote: Originally posted by SmackDaddy: quote: Originally posted by magic_hoopsfan:I see that age is no longer an issue here since most posters seem quite happy with 33yo Vince Carter in.not to mention he will be making 16M this up coming season and 17M next..!! ?mho this trade is solely on name-value alone. this also makes Hedo less of a priority I suppose. not a total good-bye tho! this line up is quite exciting on the other hand.. no catcher eh? full of gunners hehehe C- Howard PF- Lewis SF- Hedo SG- Carter PG- Nelson 20pts 5reb and 5ast per game is more than just name recognition. Having said that, you can bet season tix just increased 20%. Exactly !! Smack, when was the last time you were this excited about the Magic during the off-season? The only point I can personally compare to is the drafting of Shaq.

  20. For all that have, over the past 2-3 years (particularly around trade deadline time) accused Otis of being too chicken to pull off a big deal, and too much in love with his own players, it is now official that this argument can no longer be used. And, yes, there were times that I was in this same group. Otis finally got his "Fool's Gold" !!!!
  21. quote: Originally posted by Kberto: quote: Originally posted by Mr Charisma:Geez, guys. When did Courtney Lee become Kobe Bryant? That was quick !!! I love the kid, but I would understand the trade. The Magic want to make sure that they have another championship run next year so that they have momentum for ticket sales going into the new arena. In fact, I've never been a big VC fan, but come off the window ledge. Can't say I'm hoping for the trade, but it's not as ridiculous as some would make it seem. It's ridiculous if we don't sign and trade Hedo to fill holes. Depends. The other way this could be played is putting this back into Hedo's lap: do you want to win a championship? If so, then sign for us for less; otherwise enjoy the Washington rain. The Magic may already feel like they have a veteran PF ready to sign, particularly if they can add VC to this lineup. But your point is well taken. This could REALLY blow up in Otis' face if the rest of the dominos do not fall.

    Should Otis Go After Iverson?

If you are kidding, I applaud you on your humor. If you are serious, then I pity your ignorance. LOL. I was thinking the same thing. This was either the best or worst post in this epic thread. Exactly. Either way, he clearly has never read my Fan Voice blog. Wait, people actually read your blog? boom. The Fan Voice blog does not exist until we see one entitled "And This Is What Happened to FMD April".
  24. quote: Originally posted by ball junkie:So, who and why would we have to make a trade specifically tonight? Couldn't it be done just as easily next week? Call me crazy... Okay, I'm really replying to take advantage of the invitation of calling you crazy. Now watch this everyone. Junkie will not get mad; he will not fire back angrily; why? Because he knows it's just a silly message board, and folks need to quit wearing their hypersensitive feelings on their hypersensitive sleeves. He might fire back for the fun of it, but that's part of the fun of these boards. To answer your question, however, as far as tonight is concerned: the amount of activity that is going on tonight might be the atmosphere for the multi-team trades that might give Otis the best chance to make moves. If most of the teams make their moves tonight and get their rosters fairly established, then moves later in the off-season might be more difficult to make. If you wanna eat dinner, gotta come when mama's callin' !!!
