Magicians top 2 dunkers of last decade (link)

Geez, I was most upset that Pat Garrity didn't make the list.
  2. While it's nice to see the Magic getting some love and I agree that VC and Dwight are 1 and 2, KD had to be hitting the bottle pretty hard when he put together these rankings. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/bl...8vLYF?urn=nba,188902

    Football and the Magic

Dwight - Tight End (guaranteed TD in Red Zone; just throw it up 12 feet in the air; who else is going to get it?) Pietrus - Linebacker Vince - Running Back Jameer - Kick Returner Bass - Outside Linebacker Barnes - Wide Receiver Jason - Quarterback Foyle - Kicker (had to have played plenty of soccer) Anderson - Long Snapper Gortat - Mascot (As a bear - he can use the skin from one of the ones he wrestled to the turf) Shard - Trainer/Nutritionist JJ - Video Coordinator
  6. So we traded T-Mac for Vince. I can live with that, seeing as how T-Mac is a glass house. Or we traded Ariza for Vince. That sounds like a no-brainer to me. Actually, though, I'm going with we traded Courtney Lee and Rafer Alston for Vince. Personally, none of these sound like a bad thing. I'm glad I'm not a Rockets fan nowadays.

Jerry Springer would be proud. Being totally disconnected from rational thought must be a disturbing existence. Who here has said what Blount did is acceptable. I know I haven't, and I don't seem to remember any one else saying it either. What most people seem to be arguing right now is wither or not Hout's actions deserved a harsher punishment. Your post seems to be one of the more ignorant one's in this entire thread. Yeah, I tend to go for the shock value. But your statement is not true. Many are also arguing that there was some level of justification in Blount's actions, and that he was over-penalized. In a world of billowy clouds, pretty flowers and beautiful dancing ballerinas, then Hout's actions were intolerable. In the real world of big time sports with big time dollars (which college football is), Hout's actions were commonplace and downright mild. Blount may not be a bad person, but he made a stupendous mistake. Just because you are not a bad person does not mean that you will not be judged for the mistakes you might make. Plexico Burress may not be a bad person either. Being stupid or losing control of your emotions is not justification for changing the severity of a penalty. Quite frankly, the severity of the penalty may be the only thing that saves him from facing criminal charges.

This statement was made in an article discussing Iverson signing with the Grizzlies. At some point, someone was going to see this and proclaim that Navarro would be a great fit for us, so I thought I'd throw this out there for anyone to talk about. I haven't seen enough of his game to have an opinion, so have at it !! http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/ne...on&prov=ap&type=lgns

But numbers alone mean very little to me, so I figure those that have seen him play more (like KITNO, I would imagine) would chime in as to the quality of his game and his upsiden (or lack thereof).

ESPN's final Summer Forcast: NBA Champions

quote: while Paul Pierce and Kobe will cancel each other out. This was the last line I chose to read in the article. I've read more intelligent comments from my 3-year old grandson. That is such a "homerism" comment, that it had to come from Simmons. Reminds me of the Sixer fans who said that Dalembert would "cancel out" Dwight. How did that work out?

    PBN Top 100 List, Dwight # 5

Wade These are the three best players in the NBA, and then there is Dwight. After Dwight, I wouldn't even say Chris Paul is next, but he is #1 PG, for sure. Let me ask you this: who had the advantage at the point guard position, the Nuggets or Hornets this past summer? How can Chris Paul be the best if Chauncey dominates him? Wow. Again, your logic is flawed. Head-to-head does not always determine who is the best NBA player. If Chris Paul outplays the opposing PG in 95% of the games, while Chauncy Billups outplays the opposing PG in 80% of the games, then Paul is better, regardless if the games against Billups made up that measley 5%. Head-to-head is a logic trap. Billups outplays Paul. Paul outplays Parker. Parker outplays Billups. (this is an example; not stating this as an actual comparison). Now what? Again, my logic is flawless and yours is incredibly weak. Wait so your argument is founded on the principle that just beause Billups is better than Paul, he isn't better than Paul because Paul is better than other people? This is why you can't claim Chris Paul to be an elite talent because I defy you to name two shooting guards that would have a clear advantage over Kobe or Dwayne Wade in a 7 game series. Okay, now name a small forward who would rock Lebron's world in a head-to-head match-up. All right, gimme a pair of 4s who would make KG and Duncan look bad. And some centers who would embarrass Dwight over the course of a playoff series. You can't for the six players I just mentioned and that is why they are considered the best in the league: because there aren't people better than them. And to answer your hypothetical question: nothing happens because stuff like is very common among great NBA players. But not when were talking about the top 3 players in the league. Those players have an advantage everytime they step on the court. Kramer, haven't had a chance to respond to you. This was a good explanation of what you meant by Billups vs Paul. Very nice. I actually think you argument here is very strong. The only hedge to it that I have is that it is dependent upon strength of position in the league at the time. For example, Dwight dominates right now because the center position is horrible in the league. If he played during the time of Hakeem, Patrick and The Admiral, then he suddenly drops significantly. So since he can say that no one can dominate him at his position today (although I might argue that he struggles mightily with Yao - pre-injury), you are suggesting that he should be rated higher than Paul because CP3 cannot say the same thing. But part of that situation is that the PG position is a lot stronger in the NBA right now than the center position. Again, there is no perfect argument/method of determining this stuff, so I am not discounting your argument. In fact, I think that it's a very strong measuring stick. But, there are always exceptions (which was your point relevant to the "Paul vs Billups vs Parker" game).

Knappy's words of wisdom to Jameer

quote: Originally posted by God hates Magic fans:just let him play his game, Jameer knows what he's doing now. Jameer could easily get 7-8 assists a game this year That would surprise me. Our offense isn't structured that way. More often than not, the person getting the assist is not the one that truly made the play happen. With the amount of perimeter passing that takes place in a game, it is usually not the instigator of the play that gets the assist. Dwight suffers from that as well. He often makes the perfect pass out of the double team and, since the defense is scrambling now, that player finds another player with a wide-open shot, which is the perfect play with usually the perfect result. Assist totals can be very misleading. Actually, I think it is one of the most overrated stats we have. A good playmaker often does not get the assist, particularly in a half-court situation. For a running team like the Suns, Nash can rack up the assists because he is running the fast break, and he makes the final pass for the lay-up or 3-point attempt. Thus his numbers become inflated. I really don't care how many assists he gets. I care if he runs the offense efficiently and effectively. One side note: the one thing that I hope VC brings to the team is the ability to pass in to the post. We haven't had a player yet that is good at that, including Jameer and Hedo. Sadly, the best one we've had is probably JJ, and he's not all that good at it either. You want to see Dwight fall in love with VC? This is how it will happen.

Knappy's words of wisdom to Jameer

quote: you are a one man wrecking crew like Dwight Howard quote: it's easy to see the Magic made a huge mistake letting Alston and Lee go. Can we just add up the value of these 2 different statements within this thread, divide by 2 and come up with an average? That would pretty much sum up where reality lies.
  21. quote: Originally posted by VaBchMagicFan: quote: Originally posted by Skywise316:And you thought Jannero Pargo was a Magic Killer?? Ha! We haven't seen anything yet. However I refuse to feel bad when the kid netted us (no pun intended) Vince Freggin' Carter. We'll only regret it if the trade doesn't bring us at least one NBA Title. Exactly that is the point, 2 years is what we have. If we don't win a title in the next 2 years it was a bad trade. IMO you only sacrifice the future if it makes it so you are the favorite to win. Thats why it doesn't make sense to me, LA,Spurs and maybe a healthy Celts are still a little bit better. So why add 12 million dollars to the payroll and mess with the team chemistry? We got their with Lee as a rookie, and while he is improving VC will be declining. Do you not understand the value of having VC's contract, and what kind of flexibility it gives us? Dwight is not 30. To suggest we have a 2 year window is absolutely ridiculous.

ESPN ranks the "newcomers" this offseason

Seriously, this ESPN paranoia needs to stop. They are telecasting 10 of our games this year. That is over 12% of our regular season games. Obviously they find us interesting. For them to televise this many games of a small market team is quite incredible actually. Just exactly what is it you want from them? And save the "respect" garbage. Respect is 10 games on their schedule. Oh, and as far as the article goes, I agree that Shaq's impact is probably overrated. And I think Artest is going to be a monster in LA. Jefferson/Artest/VC are all about equal to me.
