The Official VC to Orlando thread. ~merged~

I like the idea of trading a group of players. It put's players back to their natural positions. Grant won't be playing 2 anymore. Bogans would be VC's backup. Grant and Trevor share the 3 spot now. I would start Trevor and bring Grant off the bench because having Grant and VC on the floor at the same time would be pointless. And Jameer would simply be out of the picture. While losing JJ might appear a little disappointing, it's not like B. Hill is going to play him that much when the team gets healthy again anyway. For his sake, he might as well move on. Giving up a 1st rounder in 2009 sounds the worst, but if we could trade Travis to Phoenix for their 1st in 2009, that would offset it to some degree. While I've never been a big VC guy, I think Dwight, Jameer and Trevor's youthful exuberance could energize him. And, most importantly, Brian's hand would, for the most part, be forced on who to play. If you're the GM and your coach's rotations drive you crazy, you simply give him a set of personnel that basically makes the decision for him. He starts Dwight and Darko, with Battie backing them up. VC has Bogans to back him up Jameer has Carlos to back him up. Grant and Trevor share the 3, so that's the only decision the coach could mess up. And I expect he would.

Sure Vince has all world talents, but for a team to take a chance on Vince and not be able to resign him would destroy any chemistry on the team because all the players in the NBA already know what Vince wants to do. then why do we want him?? although i like how they said vc & ariza will be a good mix Because they know he doesn't want to play in Oakland, he wants to play in Orlando. That's the point MC is trying to make. No other team wants to talk with the Nets about Vince because everyone knows he wants to play in Orlando, so they are not going to waste their time, money and energy.

    Trade Discussion Thread

CoachTSurfing, I don't understand your quote here from the 'Grant for Vince' thread. quote: Before you start screaming one way or the other think about this. Vince can be had at the end of the season. The only way that I would trade anyone for Vince would be if he signed an extension. Otherwise we are just renting this guy for one season vs. us being able to sign a good player with Grant's contract being finished. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your statement, but this sounds like a contradiction. First, you say that Vince can be had at the end of the season. That means you must assume that he WANTS to be here. Then you turn around and say that if we trade for him, we would only be renting him for one season. Huh? Your first argument says he wants to be here, then your second argument says he'll jump ship first chance he gets. Which is it?

The J-Rich thing has to be a joke. It is so illogical in so many ways. If this happens, it is Otis's way of acknowledging that the drafting of JJ Redick was yet another huge draft mistake, and he is scrambling to save face. The only way this remotely makes sense is if there are other deals in the works, probably using Grant's contract to bring in a quality big. Without that being the case, this would be an absolute travesty. Are they hoping to pair up VC and J-Rich at the 2 and 3?

  9. I'm a computer programmer here in the Orlando area. Born and raised in Indianapolis, then came to Orlando in '70 during my high school years (yeah, I'm old too). Been here ever since, with the exception of a stint in the Detroit area ('75 - '81). I love the game, but I am not very athletic. My shooting was, and is, just pitiful. I think that is why Dennis Scott is still my favorite Magic player of all time. Well, either that or because of the cool parties he used to throw. Anyway, I fall into the nerd category. Oh, sorry, that was redundant. I already told you I was a programmer.
