  2. quote: Originally posted by God hates Magic fans:Disgusting, we overpaid for a 4th big who can't play center when we already have our backup PF. Just a pathetic move You're kidding, right? Both Bass and Anderson played some backup center last year. At 250 pounds, Bass may not have the height of most centers, but he absolutely has the muscle and heft. Look at how Perkins and Big Baby played Dwight. Baby isn't any taller than Bass. Plus, both Shard and Anderson can play the SF, as well as the PF. That is some serious flexibility on our front line.

    Tyrus Thomas anyone

quote: Another major multiteam trade might be looming in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz and Chicago Bulls having discussed a deal that would be headlined by Carlos Boozer and Kirk Hinrich, according to NBA front-office sources.Sources stressed to ESPN.com that no deal was imminent Thursday and that both Portland and Utah are still evaluating multiple trade scenarios. But two sources with knowledge of the three-team proposal confirmed that there have been substantive talks regarding a trade that would land Boozer in Chicago, Hinrich in Portland and Tyrus Thomas in Utah. If Utah is serious about moving Boozer in order to keep Milsap maybe we could get in on this deal and have Thomas come here for part of the TE, instead of ending up in Utah as a backup. They might not want to keep his $4.7M salary for a backup. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4317515

Utilizing the TE, they can do a "two-piece" trade and send him anywhere else but Dallas. There is no reason for the Magic to do that. It would cost them more then the trade since you seem to just about give away the new TE worth over 7 million. Dallas can keep their new over priced back up center. I am not saying we should match and trade, I was saying that we could use the possibility to discourage Cuban/Dallas from trying to re-sign Bass. The TE would allow us to circument the BYC issues with trading Gortat.

Yea that why did he go after Marion. Bass is history with Dallas. Coming attraction to the Amway Arena Brando Bass along with the rest of the Magic. This is why we need to sign Bass before next Wednesday. If Cuban re-signs Bass, we match Gortat and trade him elsewhere. The Hedo TE makes almost any trade possible.

I already started a thread about us possibly getting in on this trade and taking Thomas for a portion of the Hedo TE. It's called Tyrus Thomas anyone.

Possible Players To Use The Trade Exception On.

quote: Originally posted by gAmE.oVe|2:i respect his outside offense but not his inside game, fastbreak, or DEFENSE! would be nice if we had a pg that can guard someone...kinda like you know how he guarded fisher very well and prevented him from taking that 3 point shot...wait no he didnt Let's see - in high school told he was too short, ended up all-american; in college, told wasn't fast enough/too short, ended up co-player of the year; drafted #20 and sold, cause he's too slow/too short/shooting PG and will be a career backup, now a starter and an all-star. Do you really want to bet against him? The man has the heart of a champion. I would think twice about who I wager against.
  13. quote: Originally posted by Nyce_1:Detroit currently has about $3.4M left in available cap. With a backcourt consisting of Rip, BG, and Afflalo, they are looking to move Afflalo for and ADDITIONAL $1, giving them a total of $4.4; which, would be more than the Magic offered for Bass. Portland, is reportedly trying to workout a 3-team trade that'll nab them Kirk Hinrich. If they get Kirk, look for them to try to get Bass with the rest of their cap. If that trade happens as currently configured POR is not giving up a player. As Hinrich currently makes $9.5M, they won't have any cap room left to pursue Bass.

    Tyrus Thomas anyone

If that were true, then the Keyon Dooling TE would be gone. You can only use a portion for one player at a time, but the TE can be split over multiple trades.

I don't think it is likely, as I seem to recall write-ups about Otis not making him an offer a couple of years ago, or making it after he already talked to Phoenix? Anyone else remember that? I also think the fact Turk is no longer here, and there is a potential to start at the SF would be an incentive. I seem to recall he wasn't really happy as the SG. I think he might be an interesting addition, and might even start at the SF - leaving you with MP as that valuable sixth man role backing up both the SG/SF spots. He definitely has some of the same ball-handling ability that went away with Turk. I have lost some respect for him, because he left; but coming back for the leftover MLE or even the vet min might win some of that respect back.

Dwight and Vince: "We're the Favorites..."

quote: Originally posted by T REX:Boston is clearly the Eastern fav. They took us 7 games without arguably their best player and added Sheed. We basically blew up our team. This is one of the few things you actually said that I do agree with. Boston may be the EC favorite, and they did take us 7 games without KG. That does worry me. However, Boston is getting older, there three stars and there "big" FA pickup are all older than Vince Carter, so what does that say for your other points? If he is on the downside, then aren't all of Boston's stars? How about Cleveland's big trade? Oh that's right, Shaq. Wow, he's older than VC as well. Maybe they should all sit in rocking chairs together on the porch of Cracker Barrel and wait to die.

He's not much of a catalyst either. Sorry, just my humble opinion. How many teams go to the finals and totally blow up their roster? Hedo didn't shoot much better in the playoffs as a whole this year, and has never "carried" a team by himself. In fact, he was an integral part of the Magic team that won a whopping 21 games, so that we got Dwight. Wow, I sure will miss his ability to "carry" the team.

I believe that you are correct - the league picks up part of the tab on veteran minimum contracts - I think up to 50% depending upon years in the league.

It should be you-know-who from the team in the northeast was kept in line by the veteran leadership. Then I would have to repond that he was a headache in the big city, and I think a group of veterans not being willing to listen to his crap might alter his behavior in the short term, but doubt it would have a long term impact on his inate personality.
