Magic @ Pelicans - Tuesday, Feb. 12th at 8:00 P.M.

You mean Amile? I think he’s been playing really well with Lakeland, so they’re giving him time up in the bigs while Bamba is out and to put some pressure on Martin. -

Bamba is out with an injury and didn’t play. Were you watching Martin? -
I think that is a legitimate take on both Ross and Vuc. The flip side of the take is they kept them because we are all-in on trying to make the playoffs this year, and figure they will free up salary in the summer by either waiving them, or them signing somewhere else in FA. I tend to go with the first interpretation and agree with you that they plan on/think they can re-sign them both; because I don't think WeltHam would be that careless with getting no return on them as assets.
-
He's a younger, less agile, less defensive version of Vuc. If that doesn't scare you, I don't know what will!

They just got Johnson for Maker, are they adding the Pels to that deal? Otherwise you can’t combine him with another player to trade.

My only concern is that if we are running the offense through Vuc, are we stunting the development of Gordon and/or Isaac; whereas a distributing point guard might better contribute to their development. -

I think it is definitely a hiring issue; directly connected to our rotating door on the head coach/coaching staff. From what I have seen this year out of Isaac and some or our other younger players, I think we may have turned the corner on that issue; I have actually seen quite a bit of development from a number of players, specifically Gordon, Isaac, Iwundu, Bamba, and Briscoe. How much of Ross and Vuc's improvements are coaching, and how much is contract year is up for debate. I'm somewhat hopeful that the consistency with our coaching staff will finally lead to some of the big jumps we have all been waiting for. -
Because he’s only 5’11”. I wouldn’t mind taking him with the early 2nd round pick.

Probably not, they will undoubtedly get the injured player exception that we never got with G Hill. -

Yes, but his next highest was 29. Nothing in the 30's or the 40's before tonight. -

I'm so sick of Fournier in the 4th quarters. We need to bench him in the 4th from now on. -
Shame we don't have any of our own to talk about instead.

Both Mudiay (restricted) and Burke are free agents this summer, so we can probably sign either one if we want. Throw enough at Mudiay and they will probably not match, since they now have DSJ; and the likelihood of him signing elsewhere has to be increased by them bringing in DSJ, I can't imagine he is happy about that.

Except you can't get the link for the full article without being an ESPN Insider - it is a separate page from the splash page that you sign in on.

I'm not saying we need to re-sign Vuc; but if we aren't then we need to trade him for something. We should be able to pick up a late first round pick at the very least. I would hope we could get more for an (All-Star?) center than that, but you can't just let an asset walk away without trying to get something out of it. -

I don't think any of us think or expect him to fill out like Dwight did. I think KG is a brilliant example of my hopes for Bamba's development, both from a physical standpoint, and even from a game/player perspective. -
This site seems pretty good for that. https://www.spotrac.com/nba/orlando-magic/cap/

We would probably have to include one of those contracts (probably Fournier) to make numbers work for a trade.

I think the thing that concerns some people is that he doesn't always seem to be exerting maximum effort; and you don't earn extra/more minutes that way. Bamba seems to have quite a few more lapses in concentration than Isaac; and yes Isaac is in his second season, but hasn't played that many more games on this level. I am concerned about the fact both of them seem to lack a bit of "killer instinct". I'm hoping that has more to do with age/inexperience. I do like the improvements we keep seeing in Isaac, and I am catching glimpses of in Bamba. Sometimes it just takes big guys a bit longer. -
Add Simmons from us, and change the Memphis 2nd to a lightly protected 1st (top 3 2019/top 1 2020) and I would consider it.

Apparently not, since you almost never hear his name in any trade rumors - you only hear Vuc, Ross, and AG. Nobody wants him, even if it is just to waive him and clear an extra $4-5M off their cap, since he is only guaranteed $1M of next year's salary. He might be a valuable piece if you had him surrounded with 3-pt shooters, but we don't garner that kind of respect at the 3-pt line to open up driving lanes. -
