  1. well, i think everybody on this boards knows that i hate soft players who don't play defense like randolph but i think he's a good fit next to camby. it could work out.

recently i watched some games and zach played pretty poor but i talked to some clippers fans and they were pretty satisfied with the camby-randolph frontcourt. they also said that zach is doing everything the coach tells him to do so i don't think he's that much of a cancer (anymore/yet?). but i think they're overrating him a little bit though. they are more worried about davis, he doesn't seem to fit into their system and from what i saw, i totally have to agree with that.

i totally agree with you on the dunleavy part. the team has no future with him.

  2. the clippers are a very interesting team. they already have a pretty well balanced team and a great trade asset - chris kaman. this year they won't do anything but they'll get a high draft pick in june. well, i guess they'll turn kaman into depth before the deadline. with camby and randolph he will be available. also they have deandre jordan on the bench who should step in when cambys contract expires in two years.

let's take a look at their current lineup:

    PG b.davis/collins/hart

    SG gordon/r.davis/collins

    SF thornton/r.davis/

    PF randolph/p.davis/skinner

    C camby/kaman/jordan

i'm just a little bit worried about baron davis. he is 29 but i dunno, i have the feeling that he could quickly decline in the near future a la steve francis. it would be great if they could trade him for a younger PG (like the kidd-harris trade).

i was never a fan of krsti? because of his poor defense and i hate poor defenders in basketball. he's pretty good on the offensive end though - he has a nice shoot, almost 3pt range. but he became very overrated. when you are a big and you play on the same team with jason kidd then you usually look much better than you really are.

i think he'll do well in oklahoma (about 15ppg if he gets some PT) but i wouldn't want him in orlando. at least not for that kind of money.

btw, someone mentioned his poor stats in the russian league. well, i've heard that his team sucks in general although they have some good players. they blame the coach for the poor play and poor results.

For the record, that is 9 (10 if they sign Krstic) bigs to fill up a 15 man roster. Yeesh.

he's the guy i'd want in orlando

We don't have high draft picks to offer, and we don't have any perceived talent outside of our top 3-5 players.

So, while the Jazz might consider doing something like this if it was their only option, I'm sure that it WON'T be their only option.

Which, I'm sure, is part of the reason you labeled this as improbable.

    i totally agree with you

this is nothing against murphy but i have the feeling that some fans are forgetting that there are 29 other teams in the league and guess what, they also wanna to win. nobody's sleeping, everybody tries to get better short term or long term. so, as mr charisma already said, the other teams would have much more to offer for okur.

and there's still the question why would they trade him anyway? just to shed some money? definitly not, they could let him walk in the summer too. don't forget folks, the jazz are a top team as well, i give them some chances to win it all (i doubt it though). so they'd trade him only if they feel koufos can step up and if they can get a quality player with an expiring in return. i could see a okur & harpring for marion & filler trade happening. bogans and cook don't make any sense for them. they don't make them any better.

Successful? I'd say so

yeah... btw, i just saw elvis on the petrol station

actually, LA proved last year that they aren't that bad without kobe. and they didn't even had gasol back then. right now, they'd probably still make the playoffs without kobe.

to answer the OP's question, take out the best player of every team in the league and the magic would probably be one of the 3 worst teams in the league.

  8. welcome strepsil

yeah, i remember tariq abdul-wahad. je was a solid player. i think he also played for the kings and the nuggets.

to answer your question, we won't have any $$$ (besides the MLE) in 2010 thanks to shard's and meer's contracts. even if otis decides to trade them, nobody is so stupid to take them so they won't leave. and hedo will get overpaid in the offseason or he'll leave for nothing.

EDIT: yeah, shaq was the 1st overall pick in the 1992 draft

Their owner, Paul Allen is the co-founder of Microsoft, he owns the Seahawks, and 2 of the biggest yachts in the world, each worth about as much as a small market franchise. No worries.

I agree with Fendi's point, if not his reasoning. I would guess that at some point a low talent team is going to offer a player like Aldridge a ridiculous deal thinking that he can be a first banana for them, and then the Blazers are going to have serious problems keeping players together without giving out very large contracts to non-allstars.

nobody's going to touch portland's talents. nobody will offer them as much money as portland can and will if necessary. oden, aldridge, roy aren't going anywhere. they'd be stupid if they lose batum and rudy, bayless and webster will only leave if somebody offers them a huge deal. portland has (one of) the best ownership, the best GM (and it's not even close), the best young coach and a very talented young team where everybody fits in perfectly. they just need to find a PG. i can see a boring dynasty coming. only injuries can stop them.

  10. 12 1998 Michael Doleac

    13 1998 Keon Clark

    15 1998 Matt Harpring

    5 2000 Mike Miller

    13 2000 Courtney Alexander

    15 2001 Steven Hunter

    22 2001 Jeryl Sasser

    18 2002 Curtis Borchardt

    15 2003 Reece Gaines

    1 2004 Dwight Howard

    11 2005 Fran Vazquez

    11 2006 J.J. Redick

    22 2008 Courtney Lee

this is how the magic drafted in the last 10yrs. ok, dwight is a beast, mike miller is pretty good and harpring and clark were useful but all the others are/were awful. it's to early for lee though. so i say trade the **** pick

  11. this is a typical larry brown trade and maybe it isn't even that bad. ok, they lost their leading scorer but they got two pretty good defenders.

the next move i'd make is to acquire a PG like hinrich from the bulls - felton + may + filler for hinrich? this year they'll probably suck and get a high draft pick - james harden? they'd have defense + 3pt shooting and i thing they'd definitely reach the playoffs for the 1st time in their history.

    hinrich/augustin

    harden/bell/carroll

    wallace/diaw/morrison

    okafor/diaw/ajinca

    mohammed/okafor/hollins

looks like the perfect LB lineup. this team has some potential if they make the right moves.

That trade could help all 3 teams.

    Nelson/Hinrich/AJ

    Hinrich/Pietrus/JJ/Lee

    Pietrus/Lewis

    Lewis/Noah/Williams

    D12/Battie/Williams

i like this scenario. we'd finally get the PG we need and dwight would get some help he needs. but i don't like your lineup though.

    Hinrich/Nelson/AJ

    Pietrus/Nelson/Lee/JJ

    Lewis/Pietrus

    Noah/Lewis/Williams

    D12/Battie/Williams

  13. to answer the OP's questions: NO and NO

and now, i'm all for trading hedo, not because i hate him, it's because a)he won't get any younger and will be past his prime until dwight reaches his, b)we have so many holes to fill and he's our only real asset to acquire the pieces we need and c)he's an expiring and there is a huge possibility that we overpay him or lose him for nothing.

    BUT...

trading hedo and becoming better (long term of course) won't be easy at all. as i already said, we have so many holes to fill with only one real asset - now we need some magic (or otis and zeke as the GMs of some other teams).

now, if we trade hedo for a real PF we could face some other problems:

1)with hedo gone we'll have nobody to run the offense

2)lewis would be moved back to SF and here's my question: do you really think that a ridicules contract made him a better defender? remember, he was an awful defender in seattle playing SF and surprised everbody with his D in orlando at PF - coincidence? i don't think so.

3)what kind of PF do we need? a reggie evans type of player? you guys do realize that hedo's playmaking, scoring and shooting would be gone? we'd need defense and shooting from a PF we deal for hedo - SHEED!!! or darko mili?i? before he met bhill.

    quote:

call me crazy 'cause i really am but i'd do that in a second and get on the annoying "2010 FA-train". now imagine dwight and bosh dominating the league in magic uniforms. i think he's the perfect fit to the superman. now be smart and find some solid role players and there you go - you're a contender

PS: some of you want david lee. ok yes, he's a pretty good player and i could see the knicks interested in dealing him because of 2 reasons:

1)he's expiring and will demand a huge contract which would kill NY's chances to sign two superstars in 2010

2)they wanna get rid of eddy curry to increase their chances for the 2010 FA market.

now, pull the trigger and get dwight some help in the paint but also get an almost unbeatable rival in new york (lebron, ??? and 2 lotto picks). i'd pass on that.

thank god, i'm not the only one who thinks that. i'd only add that he's also stacked between 2 positions. he isn't a real PF nor a SF. i don't think he'll become a bust but i do think miami's going to regret taking beasley with the 2nd pick.

I mean, there're great teams right now, but also a bunch of awful ones, more than in past years from my point of view.

i don't really know about that but it's an interesting thought. fact is that the teams that really suck like oklahoma or minnesota won't have a shoot at lebron, bosh and the rest. NY, NJ, detroit and the others aren't that bad or even pretty good so far.
