Orlando Magic Official Summer League Roster

  2. where are they going to end up? my predictions: - maggette, spurs - pietrus, miami? - diop, dallas - duhon, orlando
  3. o'bryant > everything we have not named dwight he'd definitly be an upgrade but i dunno...

    Understanding our draft strategy

quote: Originally posted by Kberto:I can live with Lee, it's the fact they we did nothing after that to get the players that slid to the second round. We could of easily gotten Arthur, Chalmers, or Hendrix, but Otis did jack squat. He probably went to bed after we drafted Lee. Actually i'll take that back, Lee was probably predetermined and Otis went to bed before the draft started. lol but i wouldn'd be surpised if you're right on that haha anyway... lee? hmm, i dunno... he's undersized, another undersized SG... from a small school... he's not bad but can he become a starter or just another mogans? to be honest, i doubt it. we passed on koufas, BATUM, arthur, CDR, dorsey,...
  8. yeah, i thought about a million times about this scenario. i dunno, we probably would have won some rings with the addition of a solid PG
  9. tim duncan #10? yao and garnett go before TD because of age? wait what?
  10. we DEFINITELY need a PG. jameer is not a PG at all. he's a SG in a PG body. if we trade hedo we'll be screwed cause he's our only PG and he's playing SF.
  11. quote: Originally posted by TheRevTy: quote: Originally posted by O-dub:Hedo should be able to get us more then Josh Smith. The guy can't shoot that great. He's above average in athleticism and defense..but on on offense..its only there at times. On the other hand...I really don't care. Its up to Otis. Is there no end to your Hedo homerism? who the **** is micheal jordan? we have THE TURK!!!!

    DeAndre Jordan!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jordan is to much of a risk. and if he really becomes the player he could become he won't fit in with the magic. he'd be practically the same player dwight is.

    Barbosa on the block

first of all, i don't see phoenix taking hedo, jj and the 22nd for barbosa, let alone the 15th pick. but barbosa isn't a PG at all. he's a 6th man. the quick guy who comes in from the bench and scores 20points.

    Smush Parker

quote: Originally posted by Drunk on Mystery: quote: Originally posted by punisher68:If Smush were to play the Magic every night I would take him. If you look at his stats his highest scoring game in his career was againest us with 26 pts on 1/12/07. Had you watched that game, you'd know that the reason he scored 26 points was because no one even pretended to guard him. aha, jameer guarded him lol
  16. what player/draft pick? hmm, i don't wanna talk about names but i'd trade him only if we at the offseason have a guy who can run our offense. nelson can't do it, hedo is our only option.
  17. quote: Originally posted by SmackDaddy: quote: Originally posted by echo4papa: quote: Originally posted by SmackDaddy:Something just occured to me that I haven't read here, or thought of previously. If Otis had waited until this off-season to extend Jameer, all 3 of our PG's would be free-agents. This team would essentially be without a PG on the roster. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? If this were the case, the team would have appx 8 million in cap space to spend on a PG, but would be under the cap and as a result would not have access to the MLE. Hypothetically, that Battie extension looks really, really stupid now. Could you imaginge this team with 14 million worth of cap space? Would we have been able to use that entire 8 million on another player, then resign one of our PG's, albeit, pushing us over the cap, or would we have had to split that 8 million to cover both a PG and back up (one of our own or not). Well, now that I've had a little more time to consider this, it would be tricky, but... NOw that there are reports that Foyle is opting out, if Jameer hadn't been resigned, the Magic would actually have closer to 10 million in cap space (and 16 million had Battie not been extended - I can't bear to think about that). Most reports I've seen put Maggette's magic number at appx 10 million. Now, unfortunately Otis would be in a very similar situation this year as he was last year with Darko. Explanation: Jameer's cap hold would eat up all the Magic's cap space until he was released. THen the Magic would have 10 million to pursue Maggete or another free agent with. But for the sake of this conversation, let's say the Magic sign Maggette for 10 million. Then the Magic would be without a PG period. They would still have 7 empty roster spots to fill and be without the MLE. I'm also not sure if they would still be able to use the BAE since they started the off-season under the cap. So players under contract would be: Shard Dwight Hedo Maggette Battie Cook Bogans Redick Gortat At this point, the Magic would almost be forced to change their draft strategy. They would also be forced to fill their roster with numerous vet min contracts. And potentially, this would force the Magic to trade Hedo. Do the Magic then look to trade Hedo for Calderon or Ford? Jarret Jack is supposedly available. Would J Will seriously play for the min? We'd also still have our first round pick, and in a draft this deep, I'd like to think that Otis cold nab a 2nd round pick or two to fill a few more roster spots (3rd string PG, 3rd string big man, etc) Whatever the case is, I think I like a core of Maggete, Shard & Dwight better than I do a core with Meer instead of a 10 million dollar free agent. As Miami and Boston have shown recently, NBA teams are changing the way they construct rosters. Having 3 all-star calibre players (and if we kept Hedo we'd have 4), and then filling roster spots with players looking for a ring, seems to be the way to go. And the Magic outlook would be bright for more than 1-2 years, with players much younger than the likes of KG and Ray Allen anchoring our team. you would give maggette $10mill? and marion, deng, iggy, smith and others could be availabe second, we could have signed meer to the qualifying offer, that would be about 2mill. he would become a unrestricted FA but who cares.

    Turkoglu for Hamilton?

  21. quote: Originally posted by DustinMyselfOff:He's not top 5, he's top 15, and that's ok. i'd rather say top 30-35 (and i don't care about stats) anthony carter, chris quinn, mo williams and new york's stephon marbury/nate robinson are the only starting PG's i consider worse than jameer. calderon, lowry, critt, jack, rodriguez and maybe sessions are backups i'd take over nelson.

    Star's 2008 NBA Mock Draft 1.0

good work i especially like the bucks picking alexander, the kings taking arthur, jordan to the sixers (if he pans out they'll be SCARY!!!), greene to toronto and hibbert to utah. but i just can't see the pistons drafting thompson, he's to soft for them.

    Would you do this trade?

No to the trade um, defense anyone? while i don't think that hedo is better i wouldn't do that trade either. jefferson has a contract i don't like and he' probably end up as a laker anyway.
