    C. Paul trade adventure; ESPN TrueHoop(pg. 17)

I know my opinion is going to be very biased considering I'm a Magic fan. But that seems like a terrible idea to move Collison unless you know FOR SURE that CP3 is staying. He's the insurance policy in the same way that Gortat is ours. The only difference being ours is for injuries and NOLA's is for him leaving. I understand that there's a strong possibility that the trade value for one of the two will diminish over this next season, but you can't let a promising young prospect go until CP3 signs an extension. The only exception is if trading him will bring in enough value to compete in the West and I don't think that trade from the Blazers does that at all.
  2. I'm definitely a fan of the new forum. The new features/style definitely outweigh what we lost. The only feature that isn't on the new forum (that I know of) is the quick reply feature. The larger chat size is going to be great but very cluttered at the same time. I remember some chats being difficult to follow with the numbers we had before. It's going to be 10x worse now, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it eventually.

We didn't lose any pages in the move. The old board held 15 posts per page. This board holds 20.

Magic Going After Other Players (We're Mentioned!!!)

It's somewhat odd that everything mentioned on that blog has been discussed here on the boards. No where else has there been a discussion about AI or Granger being sent to the Magic. But yet this blog says we have a great chance to not only get CP3 but also Granger or Iggy. I have a hard time believing the legitimacy of that site's journalism. It's probably a board members' blog or CC.

The one thing that really stuck out to me about the Kyler article is that Dwight has a bad knee. Is this common knowledge or is this the first time anybody has heard of it? It's certainly news to me.

    SVG & Otis contracts extended

To get back on topic, did anyone listen to the press conference? Any news?

Why oh why oh why must you use that shortening of press conference!? The full phrase isn't hard to type! That word is so so so very annoying (nothing personal, really). It is right up there with "it is what it is." I was just typing and didn't think twice. I'm pretty quick on the keys anyways, but I had no idea that was against journalistic dogma. Or is it just a personal pet peeve? P.s. I'm an engineering guy, cut me a little slack on my verbage.

    Funny Orlando Magic Memories

Stuff takes it upon himself to come say hey to me and shoots those things out of his nose. I immediately think it's snot and get sick.

How'd I miss out on the restaurant talk? Living in FL my whole life has turned me into a fast-food/restaurant connoisseur since we have nothing but crap chains. On the flip side, I'm a great cook because of it. RIP Downtown Tijuana Flats - was always my pregame meal/bucket of beer stop. Now it's wall streets cantina. Anyways, my guess is that Pat is talking about the official announcement of the extensions. Even if he wasn't, he doesn't exactly have a stellar track record about divulging info early.

    SVG & Otis contracts extended

I don't see why it was necessary to extend their contracts right now. I'm not complaining by any means. I like the defensive mentality that Stan brings and Otis; well anything is better than puckhead. I just don't think either of these guys were leaving, so why now? Peace of mind about job security? That's the only thing I can think of.

Ken Berger is the Man...surely he's got some good sources or he wouldn't be this adamant about the topic. I know Povtak endorses him whole-heartedly... Yeah no problem. I'm very interested to hear what he has to say. I'm not going to be able to hear it live so hopefully someone will tune in and give a review of the conversation. I was listening to the first hour of Rome's show and he has the same reaction to the CP3 meeting that I did. He didn't believe it at all. His point was that he can't imagine that they said something that would radically change his mind. He thinks that this is a ploy so that other teams don't look at CP3 as a bad character guy.

Magic going in for Chris Paul

This thread will never end, but I think that's a good thing if everything works out in our favor. I got the impression that the public comments from yesterday weren't for real. CP3 can't say anything because he'll get fined and NOLA management can't say they are trading him. They might lose some leverage in trade talks. I still have no idea what to think so I'll keep wearing out my F5 on all these threads in the hopes some news will come.

I'm sure theres rhetoric behind it and I'm pretty sure we'll be talking about Paul again near the deadline or in the next off season but hes not going to traded before the season. I think with his love for the city and with a new coach, hes willing to give it another shot so whatever source is saying "Don't buy it. He still is gonna get traded" I think is full of it. I see your point. The only flaw is that it's hard to say that a happy tweet by CP3 means much of anything. The happy go lucky feeling portrayed to the public by both sides is most likely a farse. Every time there are negotiations, whether it being with a free agent or current player, the result is always the same. They say they had a good meeting only to turn around and make a move/sign with someone else. I wouldn't throw anything out, but I also wouldn't say he's being traded before the season starts (which WOJ didn't say).

Might as well trust Magical or any other source. Throw enough darts and your bound to bit a bullseye. So you're comparing a source that was not right about anything this offseason to one that has been quickly getting info out and breaking news all offseason. Great comparison. And you believe ANY source? A reporter who wasn't even in the meeting to begin with? Yeah good call. Then there is really no way to know what is going on then. You knew that both sides were going to spit out some BS PR rhetoric. My point is that this source has been accurate all offseason so he has some credibility when it come to his tweets.

If what WOJ is saying is true. This could be something that management asked him to say in order to give them leverage in trade talks. We all knew that NOLA wasn't going to come out and say he's requested a trade.
