Magic Going All In For Chris Paul's Backup?

What leverage do the Clippers have when trading a backup point guard on a team with Chris Paul? I doubt there are other serious suitors out there, so I don't see why we'd have to include Nicholson or a draft pick if they actually really want AA.

The league is so watered down today, that's it hard for me to think highly of this Heat team in a historical context. I mean, they had to fight tooth and nail to get by Chicago and Indiana (not great teams even when healthy). And in the finals, they basically won the lottery in game 6, then eked one out in game 7 against by far the worst Spurs team to be in the Finals. I view the Kobe and Gasol L.A. championship teams the same. They can only beat the teams in front of them, but if you're going to be honest about their legacy, they don't really match up with the true great teams in NBA history. Also, Lebron is great, but the MJ stuff is *****ing ridiculous. It's disgusting how eager some people are to anoint him the greatest ever, when he'll never be on the same planet as Michael Jordan. And that's not even being desparaging towards Lebron. One can be an all-time great player, and not even begin to approach Jordan's greatness.

I think it's pretty dope. Not as good as his last one, but it's right in the mix for his second or third best. And Arctic Monkeys dropped their new single. It's sounds like they're redoing Humbug as if they were Josh Homme. And that's not a bad thing at all.

There's a better chance of Microsoft backing off their restrictions than Sony pulling a switcheroo on the consumer. It would be silly for Sony to rub Microsoft's nose in it like they did at E3 only to turn around and join in on the madness down the road. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWSIFh8ICaA How can you get away from that?
  6. That scenario would certainly be the best for Dwight in terms of PR, but that ship has sailed for both parties.
  7. When he was healthy, he was on the court. That's earning your paycheck. When there's language in a contract that says you have to play x amount of games to receive this money, let me know. I specifically said you can boo anyone you want.
  8. I'm sorry, but the s&t gripe is just sour grapes. He didn't do a s&t to Orlando to help compensate Detroit, he did it for more money. It's not like if we got something worthless in return, it would suddenly be okay for some of you.
  9. I honestly didn't even read the article. I know Hill just retired, but I doubt Denton added anything to the conversation that hasn't be discussed ad nauseum in Magic fandom. And yeah, booing is an acceptable part of fan participation. No one is off limits as long as it cost money to get in the arena.

They'd be better of just keeping Granger. They needed more wing scoring in the ECF. AA and BB would just duplicate talent in areas they don't need help in. (I'm assuming David West will be there)
  11. Some of you guys treat former players here like a jilted lover. Grant Hill didn't owe us anything after his contract was up. He tried his best to get on the court, and it didn't happen for the majority of his stint in Orlando. Oh well. I can't blame him for leaving, especially considering the fact that he remained relatively healthy after his departure. He wanted to win, and wasn't obliged to sign a vet min. deal here to repay some kind of imaginary debt. (Yeah, yeah, the s&t thing, I get it.) People can boo anyone they desire, but I personally don't ever feel the need to -- unless someone would block my view in the glorious Mary the Dancer days. MMMmmm. Mary. The. Dancer. And to the person who brought up McGrady: He earned the right to be the biggest baby on the planet when his prime was wasted on arguably the worst supporting cast for a superstar ever.

Fines are so pointless. If you're not going to deal with it during the game, then just leave it alone.

Both can be taught to some extent. For shooting, you can teach form/technique and hope the repetition pays off. For defense, you can teach team defense, concepts, positioning, etc. If you're a smart and talented player, you can be taught just about anything.

You're kind of fixated on "whys" and "what ifs" when you should be doing this regardless: Losing was the best option once the franchise player left the building. We had to unload salary and acquire as many prospects as possible. You draft talent because you want to give yourself as many options as possible with trades and free agency. You might love Tobias Harris, but if we can draft someone we project to be better at the same position, we have the option of moving one of them later for something else. This is how you competently build teams. You can't develop a system until you have a core group of guys you're confident is here to stay.

We were 14-30 going into the game with the Knicks in which he was injured. We were on a 5 game skid going in, and we already had a 10 game losing streak before that.

We were 12-13 (before he was injured) when we lost 10 straight. We then won 2 out of our next 3, followed by a 12 game losing streak. Context is great, especially when it's the actual context. We were bad with and without Glen Davis.

If you're really going to rationalize it by saying Glen Davis was the difference between the playoffs and the worst record in the NBA, then that's your prerogative. It's silly, but it's your choice. In every sport, every season, multiple teams get off to relatively hot starts then fade into oblivion. That's the point of having long seasons. The numbers work themselves out at the end.

I could see him taking less money if the right opportunity presented itself. That Clippers team has been an illusion for two years now, so if there was a path to a championship out there for him, I think he'd take it at 28. A bunch of crazy stuff would have to happen for that to take place, though.I suppose it's possible that he believes in Griffin and Jordan, but I know I wouldn't.

Worst record in the league not resonating? Bad teams and bad franchises aren't the same thing. Which part of that actually matters: How things started in the first 25 out of 82 games, or the 20 win part? 20 wins. We went 1-3 vs Charlotte and 0-2 vs Sacramento. Are we in better shape than both of those franchises? Yeah, that's fair. But you need to stop kidding yourself with how good this Magic team was. I'm just here for the emoticons. No Dwight Howard + trading away other assets + young unproven players = bad team rebuilding. Yes, we were that bad. And yes, that's the best thing that could've happened for the franchise post-Dwight.

Teams that are so bad that a system is the last thing anyone cares about. Long term players of a franchise. The guy who aren't expendable. They were before their teams were good. They helped their respective franchises grow into top 10 teams. There are plenty. We're one of a handful of teams without any as of yet. Think about it. Has there ever been a draft without any cornerstone players? It's not if, it's who. Yeah, that's what smart front office people do. They acquire assets and shred team salary. Yeah.

Then there's Gob/Louie or Cranston/Jessie with Palmer/Paige/Shepard and possibly the addition of Blitzer/Maddow/Fenix

Nintendo is winning by default. It's not like their new system is overly impressive. It's a Wii with a new trinket and an extra letter attached to the name. They're just as guilty, its just that Mario and co. makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

How in the world could anyone possible make the "draft for need/fits the system" argument for a 20 win team with no cornerstone players? Our current system is to lose games, and to lose them often. Hennigan's drafting the #1 player on the board, regardless of position. And it's interesting that the Clippers would dangle Bledsoe like that (assuming it's true) when Chris Paul's future with them is up in the air.
