  1. he is not a SG, is a SF. So, if I were 34, potentially playing my last season, and having to play a position that doesn't suit me, I'd do the same........ PD: playing with Jameer (a non-natural PG doesn't help either... Go Grant !!
  2. I think that just by having this comparisson out there, means that the Suns got the best deal. Lewis will make $15 a year, Hill will not even make $2, part of it is not coming from the Suns pocket, but from the NBA. So, I think IT IS A COMPLIMENT for the Suns to get somebody like Hill at $1 million, and have people even considering comparing both guys...... If I were part of the Suns Management, I would be delighted to know that. The best investment, like the stock market, buy low !!! There's no doubt that the Magic will get have the biggest impact, but at what cost? From a financial/management perspective, the Suns got the best value per dollar.... everything is relative dude....

Hill to Phoenix reported at Hoopsworld

I do admire Grant as well.... he could have retired a few years ago, and the Magic organization still had to pay his $92M. He tried many times and helping as much as possible, but people always blamed him for being injured... even though the guy was putting all his heart and body everygame. the magic simply don't deserve this quality guy, specially now that he's healthy. Good luck Magic, I promised myself that if the Magic got rid of Grant (or he left) and the Magic kept "selfish and high-turnover Jameer", I'd look for another team. and that's what I'll do. Enjoy next season with Jameer blowing games and refusing to pass the ball to Lewis and Howard....

Can Dooling be our starting Pg?

I'm not sure that Dooling would be my first choice. he's a great back-up, but I would NOT have Jameer. Arroyo or Dooling, but Jameer is not worth it. He is a good shooting Guard in another league, not the NBA, but certainly not a good PG, certainly not a passer with great court vision....
  5. a roster with Jameer as a PG is weak........ he's not a natural passer, and he won't be. Even with Rashard, the Magic management has probably forgotten what big mess Jameer generated during the whole year with low assist and high turnover. I've been a loyal Magic fan, but if we keep Jameer (high dollars), get rid of Grant (low $), then I'm ready to move. Enough suffering. Management should be handled like a stock broker, buy low, sell high. We're not signing a low Grant (finally cheap and productive), but decide to sell. We're willing to keep a high dollar Jameer, paying a lot, with the worst assist/turnover ratio......... What a shame !!!

  8. Because of guys like you all, I believe that Grant should leave the Magic. All these years Grant didn't play not because he retired while getting his paycheck, but because he was injured. However, he kept trying. Any team that signs a long term contract takes a chance. The team tries to sign for an amount that, in the long run, would be cheaper than resigning every year. If the guy turns out better than expected, good deal (Miguel Cabrera, Florida Marlins). If the guys gets injured (Kenyon Martin) or doesn't play as well as expected (Brian Grant), bad business. The worse case is when the player retires in the middle of the contract like some knicks players did. They keep getting their paycheck, and don't even try to play. Honestly, that's what the magic deserved... some knicks players retiring in the middle of the contract. I just can't believe some many guys here "hate" Grant for trying hard. They don't understand that if he hadn't tried, he had gotten his money anyway, and the salary cap would have been the same. Plus, I'm sure we wouldn't have gone to the playoffs. So, Otis says Grant has a spot, but he won't give details. Maybe Otis is talking about a spot just like Garrity has. In other words, to have him in the bench everyday. So, what do you expect from Grant? After all the crap he gets from fans like you? would you expect him not to listen to other teams? Maybe other teams appreciate more what he is capable of, plus he will get the ball more from his PG. I've been a loyal Magic fans for years. But if the Magic sign Jameer as is PG, keep Brian H, and don't offer Grant a good option, I'm ready to move on as well....

TEAM USA IS IT GOOD OR BAD?

At least you felt like they each wanted to be there. I won't reply but I will say I enjoyed reading that portion. Agree, that part was well-writen. Unfortunately, it's true, there's no team game, and not many in the US team "want" to be there. I also agree with Mr Charisma when he says that players "should do what they feel they want or should do". I don't believe anybody should be disciplined for not playing for its country. I agree. However, it's sad that some players are not that interested. IT'S SAD. Maybe they're a a bit scared because their butts are going to be kicked as it's been the case the last few tournaments. I'd be glad if people and the NBA itself stop calling that tournament "the world championship"... give me a break... World? Detroit vs. San Antonio? it's just this stupid idea that we're everything. But to a degree I'm glad we're losing and losing in the real world championships...

The other countries seem to get goose-bumps all over if the beat us so, if they beat us, good for them. It'll make them feel better about themselves, for whatever that is worth to them. As an owner or GM of an NBA team, I would not want any player of mine involved in Team USA. The NBA season is way too taxing if the off-season isn't really an off-season. It's my investment, and I would not want to risk it. It's really sad that people think this way. Anywhere in the world, the most important thing is to wear your country's uniform. That's the top of the top. Forget about the NBA championship.... every country in the world has their own championship. However, the super event is the Olympics. People give 300% of themselves in the olympics. That's why most records are broken in that event. There's something wrong about american values. We give more importance about a local tournament than the olympics. Not only that, but now the rest of world beats us all the time..... well deserved? maybe Basically you are saying that what is important to you as an American is that we make sure we beat every other country down to a pulp. Make sure we keep the rest of this pitiful world under our powerful feet. You're right. There IS something wrong with American values. I did't say "we have to make sure we beat every other country down to a pulp". I didn't even suggest we need to win necessarily. What I'm saying is that what matter in this country is money, and local tournaments. There's more in this world than the US. The olympics means for the whole world the nicest challenge to represent your country, to put 300% of yourself, to be proud of where you are and where you come from, to be proud to be one of the representative of your country (those are the values I'm talking about). That's what matters, to bring your best players, and give your best. You should see how proud was Ginobili to play for Argentina, and other international players. Also, I don't think the rest of the world is pitiful. I have traveled a bit, and it's much nicer than you would ever imagine. But going back to basketball, I don't know why you imply that we put "the rest of the world under our powerful feet". Have you seen the last few worldcups and olympics? I think your memory goes back to the 80's. We're just one more country. The rest of the teams are quite strong. Maybe not as athletic, or dunk specialist... but they can pass the ball quick and they've got the greatest shooters. Most importantly, they play as a team, and they play for their country with pride... (those are the values i'm talking about) we're not on the top as you think. Just because we have the NBA league, it's still a local league. When it comes to countries, we haven't been the best in many years....

    Trade jameer?

quote: Originally posted by kman68:Heres a newsflash.........Jameer can only get credit for an assist if the player he passes to makes it. Just in case you didnt know. Also do you understand Phoenix shot the ball 800 more times than Orlando. He may have gotten that magical 8 assists a game with an extra 10 shots a game. This is an awful argument. If you look at the playoffs, Grant Hill and Hedo had more assists per game than Jameer. Grant=3.8, Hedo=3.5 and Jameer=3.3. How awful do you have to be to have a shooting guard and a small forward having more assist than the PG ???? By the way, Grant and Hedo pass the ball to the same guys you're discreting.....

Grant to choose between DET, PHX and ORL?

quote: Originally posted by murphy13:grants been quoted as saying that if he decides to come back, he hopes orlando has a spot for him...that means if he plays at all, it will be here, thankfully. What Grant said was that "IF" Orlando has a spot for him, we would like to play for Orlando. However, if Otis tells Grant that he would be his 9th player in the rotation, and Grant wants to play another year, then Grant would play for another team (Detroit possibly). Given the history of awful decisions by the Magic ownership, I might not be surprised that just when he's healthier, and will make minimum veteran salary, the magics could pass on him. From a management standpoint, this is the best time to resign Grant Hill, and I'm sure Detroit or other teams will take him gladly at that price and being able to put 15ppg with 51%FG for $1M or so. No other veteran can produce that much for that amount. But again, the Magic would probably resign Jameer at $5 million or more..... or fire Dwight or sign Pippen for $10 million. That's the kind of management decision the Magic likes to make........
  14. I know lots of Detroit fans that will be really happy if the Magic not offering Grant a spot. But the reason is that they will love to have Grant Hill back at a minimun salary, now healthy, and still capable of playing good basketball..... 6th man for the Pistons.... sometimes it's so sad to be a Magic fan... He will be one of the best performers next year when you measure points per dollars....

    Trade jameer?

It's so funny...... they were saying in ESPN today that Steve Nash had less than 10 assist for the first time in the playoffs (he got 8)...... and then I look at Jameer's numbers and he never got more than 8 assist during the whole season...... interesting, isn't it? We need a real PG....... we don't need his first shoot mentality, and his lack of vision to find open guys or create situations for open guys
