Otis...Prove your worth...GO GET FRAN

quote: Originally posted by MagicFanBen:Yep I said it in another thread and after some thought I figured it deserves it own thread. Fran has 1 year left on his deal and this is the first time since signing Rashard Lewis that we have a big opening for him. If he ever wants to make a name for himself in the NBA and NBA money he needs to come over. If Otis is going to work the phones for Sheed and Bass, he would prove wise to cross the Atlantic, sit down one on one with Fran and his team and try and work it out. There should be a lot of pressure on Fran now that Gasol won an NBA championship. I would imagine if Otis starts with the angle of he needs to come and represent his country in the way that Gasol did then he would now have a much better chance to get him to finally come over. Fran would be in the rotation this year. Might even could start by the end of the season and be an important part in the finals. That is what I would tell him at least. Pal, your full of it. -
The Magic should convince Fran Vazquez to come to camp

On cold pizza Jamile Hill who used to write for the Orlando Sentinel and skip both said the Knicks will make the playoffs because the Orlando Magic will allow them to. Skip then says the Orlando magic are one of the biggest collapses in sports history after ending the season winning 12 of 14 and starting this season 13-4 they have lost the last 10 of 12, and both said Dwight Howard is a bad player with the ball, has no offense, and to this point is a dissappointment. I am confused

The problem is the guy can't move laterally, he can't stay on front of anybody on defense, and he is a product of a system( can't create his own shot off the dribble), in other words, he sucks, lmfao...

Why is Dave Twardzik still employed in Orlando?

Orlando Magic, expected to trade for a second round pick---[Orlando Sentinel]

The Magic are expected to bring in about a dozen players in the next week for a closer look. They have the 22nd pick in the first round and are expected to trade with either the Portland Trail Blazers or Seattle SuperSonics for a second-round pick. Their own second-rounder already belongs to the Heat as compensation for allowing Orlando to hire Coach Stan Van Gundy, who still was under contract to Miami last summer. Rest of story... http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/basketball/magic/...ay29,0,3753097.story Our draft history, in the middle rounds, sucks, we will be better off, not having any more picks, we will screw up anyway, as far as Twardzick will be in charge of scouting.... -
Look what yahoo.com has us picking in Draft. ***!?!?

Don't move Turk, Nelson, etc...
MagicPhan732 replied to Nell2ThaIzzay's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
quote: Originally posted by Nell2ThaIzzay:As a long time Magic fan since 92, I just want to say that I am very proud to be a Magic fan right about now. We had a great season, and I got a little bit over excited about our regular season success, and as such, I am extremely disappointed about our loss, but I am not disappointed in my team. They played hard, and got some of the necessary experience to take into future post seasons. And we have a great core to build around. Which brings me to my next point: Don't BREAK APART that core. I can't for the life of me understand why people are so determined that we get rid of Jameer Nelson and even more so Hedo Turkoglu. 1. Both of these players have been very good for us, not just this year, but their entire time with the team. They are vital pieces to the core of this team that won 52 games. 2. The team is finally building chemistry together, why do you want to break that apart? 3. What equal or better value are you going to get for players like Turk or Nelson, who have both been clutch performers for us? The need for a dominant power forward is not as great as everyone is making it out to be. How many truly dominate big men are actually out there? The Pistons surely don't have one (Rasheed Wallace is GOOD, but far from DOMINATE), and they are considered the best team in the East. Cleveland doesn't have one, and they are the defending Eastern Conference champions. You can have success without a truly dominate big man... and we already have one. I firmly believe that a Tony Battie will be enough to help out Dwight. What we need is a guard. Specifically, a 2 guard. I do like Mo Evans or Keith Bogans, but I'd like them more coming off the bench. In order to fix our 2 guard position, I see 2 options: 1. Use the MLE on a PF. -Using our MLE on a PF will allow Rashard Lewis to go back to his natural position of SF, and we can put Hedo Turkoglu at the 2 guard spot, a position he has shown that he can play. Foyle and Gortat can be our backup Centers, and Battie can come off the bench as our backup PF. 2. Bring in a shooting guard. -We can keep our lineup the same, and just replace Mo Evans in the starting lineup with our new SG. I don't know who will be available for a MLE. There is Pietrus, but I don't know if he's an MLE player or if he'll command more. We also have the draft. I see us as about 1 hole away from going all the way. We have 2 draft picks and an MLE to fill 1 hole. I don't see a reason to trade Hedo or Jameer. The knock against Jameer is his size, and how he gets abused by Chauncy Billups specifically. By bringing in someone like Pietrus, we can have a back court of Pietrus and someone like Dooling if we need better defensive guards in there, and run with Nelson when we need offense. Hedo and Jameer AREN'T our weaknesses on our team, those aren't the positions we need to upgrade. And by trading them away to fill other holes, like the PF that everyone seems to think we need, we fill one hole and open up another. The goal needs to be to KEEP this core together, the core of Howard, Lewis, Turk, and Nelson, and add to it. And I don't think we need anything huge. Even with these holes, the series against Detroit was a lot closer than 4-1 indicates, and they were mistakes that more chemistry and playoff experience can help to fix. We don't need drastic changes here. We need to stop worrying about trading away the pieces that we do have. That's not going to help this team. what a kool aid drinker, and this been said by me, a season ticket holder from day one, lmao, as far as the present ownership, will lead this team, we will never win a championship, here in Otown. -

Like I said in another thread, there is no way he can overpay someone this year. Right? he is not a moron, REALLY?? He just like to overpay , after all is not his money, lmfao -

Calderon Desires Starting Job May 9, 2008 - 6:30 am Toronto Star - Raptors restricted free agent Jose Calderon has posted on his website that he wants to be an NBA starter, which is the same declaration made recently by fellow Raptor point guard T.J. Ford, the Toronto Star is reporting. "I want to be a starter and be in a team that aspires to everything," he wrote. "I will not be on a team in which I cannot be an important contributor." Link--- http://www.thestar.com/article/423237 This little conflict WILL be a factor in determining who will be back for the Raptors next season. Maybe they trade TJ Ford to keep Calderon or maybe Calderon insists on bolting to another team. IDK but the door is now open And what make you think, Jameer will keep his pipe shot, to make it easy to Calderon to come here?, IMO, Calderon is the better player, but Jameer is Otis boy, that will never happen. -
Jameer coming alive - something else to talk about inbetween Ref bashing!

The myopic and futile attempts on this board to blame the officiating rather than the Magic's incompetence is rather embarrassing. The truth hurts, fellow Magic fans, and the truth is that Detroit beat us by 8 points. You can't take away the 3 at the end of the third quarter, the 19 turnovers, the bad pass by Rashard, or the stupid shot by Hedo. It's time to come to terms with reality: we lost this game. The sooner you realize it, the better the victories in games 3 and 4 will taste. Well said..... -
