Trade Idea involving Orlando and Detroit

Hi, What are your thoughts on the following trade idea: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?playe...8~8~19&te=&cash=8:19 I think this trade could benefit both teams. For Orlando, they would get a true power forward with experience that would help Dwight dominitate on the paint. For Detroit, they would get a good perimeter shooter (J.J. Redick), and a great 2/3 type player in Turkoglu (Cook is there just to make the trade work). Also, Detroit might be looking for a change in this could be there opportunity. With Turkoglu, they could use Prince as a good trade asset for possible trade with other teams.

  3. I guess we have to ask two questions before we can answer this one. First, if we hadn't sign Jameer the extension and he had become a RFA this summer, do you believe we (or any other team in the league) would have given him the same amount of money? Second, now that we have given him the contract, do you believe that any of the teams out there see him and his contract as an opportunity to make a trade? In my opinion, the answer to both questions is NO. Jameer is a good player but we overpaid for him. I don't believe any team will have given him that amount of money or is interested in doing a trade with his contract, no matter how good his playoff performance was. Remember, he had a few injuries during the season where he practically was removed from the roster. Another thing that nobody has brought up is that by giving Jameer an extension, we lost the ability to perform any trades involving him before the deadline. Just before the trade deadline, Jameer and Dooling were injured and this is possibly the reason why our third point guard (Arroyo) was not traded. If we had not signed the extension, Jameer's previous status and contract might have proveen attractive for other teams and we could have gotten the missing pieces we needed in our roster (like a PF).

    Would you do this trade?

I would not do this deal. The only way I would give up Hedo is if we get a good PF. That way we could bring Rashard to his natural position.
  5. Hedo is not a SG. Playing players out of position could prove succesfull during the season but will not give us the edge we need to survive postseason. I don't see us winning a series against high caliber teams by playing players out of position.
  6. I wouldn't try to read the between the lines. Otis has a tendency of saying one thing and doing another. In my opinion, I believe Dooling will be back and will be overpayed by Otis, like he has done to other players in our roster. He will be the only current Magic free agent that will be coming back to the team.
  7. I understand everybody is frustrated and that is the reason why we are exchanging "offensive" remarks. The truth is Stan Van Gundy is not to be blame for this loss. We could argue of small changes he could have made in his rotation but even a blind man could have seen where this was heading. Without a true power forward and an inconsistent backcourt, we didn't have a chance against them. We have Superman but all those Detroit Big Guys on top of Dwight are like kryptonite, weakining his performance. Actually, Stan did a lot with this roster considering it was flawed. We won 50+ games this season which was a great accomplishment, but contrary to teams in other conference (Hint, Hint: Phoenix), we didn't built our roster so we could win over the Pistons on the playoffs. In fact, our roster's weaknesses are exposed by the Pistons. I, on the other hand, am grateful that we didn't get sweeped by the Pistons like last year.

He has a lot of fans in the Hispanic community and is very involved in it. Most likely he will be gone after this season and there will be a celebration and lots of the people that dislike Carlos will be so happy to see him leave. You see for them Carlos has very little value. In their opinion Carlos is

interview of d12 in yesterdays win

Arroyo played great last night, but honestly I dont think he has better chemistry with Dwight than Dwights buddy Jameer. Well... the fact that Jameer is his buddy doesn't mean that he believes Jameer has better chemistry with the team than Carlos. I think Dwight just avoided being misquoted that he favored one point guard over the others. Dwight must have an opinion of who is a better fit for the team, but I really doubt he will make his opinion public considering his friendship to both players... Go Orlando MAGIC!!!!

    Otis right again?

Here are my two cents... The fact that from our 3 star players, 2 of them play the same position naturally (Turk and Rashard) makes me question Otis ability to build a playoff contender roster. No matter how good Turk handles the ball, HE IS NOT A POINT/SHOOTING GUARD. Defensively, he will not be a able to keep up with slashers and strong offensive players such as Rich Hamilton, Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, etc. As for Rashard, most of us already figured out that he may play power forward position, but he is not a power forward and will have problems in the playoffs facing guys like Kevin Garnett, Ben Wallace, etc. In two years, people will realize (those that have not realized already) that with our current cap salary conditions, we will not be able to retain both Turk and Rashard.

    team work and carlos

My only comment is that Carlos performance was pretty impressive (1 turnover, 8 assist, double-digit points) considering he went from several DNPs to playing more than 40 minutes in today's game. Also, most important of all, the Magic won the game which is what really counts... Go Orlando Magic!!!!
  12. I still see Otis Smith as a bunny (as pointed out by Soul Bro). Judging from what has happened so far while Otis has been a GM, I do not believe he has the IQ, guts, or charm to pull a descent trade in less than a week. Expect Pat, Arroyo and JJ to rot in the bench for the entire season and expect at least 2 of our expiring contracts (possibly, Arroyo and Bogans) walk away on the summer.

    Timetravel trade options...

Seeing that our latest threads have lately been about the same issues but with different titles, I have decided to come up with a different thread that might help us think about better trading possibilities. Let's play GM for a moment and imagine that you could do a trade to improve the Magic's team. In this case, assume that you have the chance (I know it's not realistic) not only to trade for players currently playing on the NBA, put players that have played in the past and are already retired (or passed away). Who will you bring to the team in order to improve our current roster (try being more creative than just saying Micheal Jordan)? By studying the history of past NBA players, we could identify how young prospects playing today look like these past NBA players when they were starting their careers (kind of profiling players performance instead of personality). This might help us find untapped talent hidden on the bench of other NBA teams. Remember, history always repeats itself and those that do not learn from it, are bound to repeat it...

Would You Do This Crazy Trade? (Look Ma! I'm a GM!)

Can you imagine Wallace and Howard both defending at the paint? This combination will definetily give Rasheed/Antonio (Detroit) and Kevin Garnett (Boston) a hard time... Also, if we get to make it to the finals, it will help us compite against San Antonio or Phoenix, who has resently "gotten big" with the acquisition of Shaq...
