NBA Fines Spurs $250K for Resting Players
Matthew replied to NittanyBuc's topic in Around the NBA/Globe Game
First, I should say that I am glad that they did not rest the players against Orlando. I was at the game and enjoyed being able to see them. So, I get the fan's point of view. Of course, it is a let down when the opposing team does not play their best players. However, when you are fan of the Heat, you pretty much have some of the biggest stars on your roster already. Guys that most other fans rearrange their schedule so they can see LBJ, Wade & Bosh in person. So, count your blessings. But, getting to the point of this discussion... there should be no way that the NBA can regulate which players are played. I understand that it was the big game of the week for TNT. But, I am sure the NBA will be glad when the Spurs make into the Playoffs with a healthy roster. You would think that the league would rather have the players miss a game here and there during the season so they are healthy in the post season... which is where all the money comes in for the league. I think they overstepped their boundaries on this one. It's not like the Spurs were tanking the season or anything. In fact, they rested them for quite the opposite reason. -
Would you welcome Dwight Howard back?
Matthew replied to thagr8wunn57's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
Wow! Didn't know that. Upsetting and saddening. Another reason why people shouldn't put celebrities up on pedestals. Even the "good" ones have the potential to let you down. -
Thanks guys. I appreciate the feedback. Got it taken care of now.

Hey guys, Anyone know where I can download Magic games. I'd like to get last night's game against the Spurs. I know you used to be able to buy them off of iTunes but that doesn't seem to be the case any longer. Any help would be great. Thanks! Matt

I was asking for legal, hence why I mentioned iTunes. I know enough to search Google for illegal ways. I don't mind spending the money. Thanks for your help...

Are there any legitimate reasons why people keep on talking about Phil Jackson coming to Orlando other than he once mentioned that he would like to work with Dwight?
-
Should he not have responded to guy? Yes...probably better not to have said anything. However, he is getting hounded with people like that, saying some pretty ignorant things, hateful things. I don't blame him returning the same attitude to that guy who was pretty much pushing him for that kind of response. I think any of us would be pretty annoyed by people like that.

Gilbert Arenas is all but assured amnestied
Matthew replied to XboxRocks's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
What do you guys think the chances are of Otis talking with Gilbert and giving him the choice of getting amnestied or him staying with the Magic but with a pay cut and Gilbert taking a pay cut. Either way he is going to take a huge pay cut sooner or later. If we amnesty him, he'll get his salary this year, but not team in their right mind would sign him to anything significant. However, we could talk him into taking a pay cut that would pay him a little better than anywhere else, he'd get to stay with his "mentor" and be on a winning team. That would then free us up to let Hedo go and free us some cash. I know that that is a dream and probably not going to happen, but is it at all slightly possible? -
Hey Guys, Of course there has been several discussions about the upcoming CBA and potential lockout. I know what a lockout means, we have seen it firsthand in 98 and also can watch it in the NFL. My question is, can anyone explain how the new CBA will effect teams? And, more specifically, what it could mean for our situation. This is not a "fire Otis Smith" or "woe is us because of our awful long-term contracts" thread, but I'd be interested to see how this could impact us and potentially free us up for next season. Thanks guys.

Poll...Should Otis be fired...what do you think now?
Matthew replied to the notorious S.A.C.'s topic in Orlando Magic Forum
My reason is simple...the parts that we have traded for aren't working now and they are going to hurt us later. That is not the fault of the coach. -
Potential Bigs We Can Acquire? (Post-Trade Deadline Edition)
Matthew replied to NittanyBuc's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
I have always liked Haywood. I think he is overpaid, but a lot big men are. What are the chances that we could see a line up where DH shifts down to 4 against bigger teams? -
Potential Bigs We Can Acquire? (Post-Trade Deadline Edition)

I think Battie is done. I have always liked Turiaf though. However, I thought I read that NY is not interested in dealing him to us. -
A buddy of mind suggested Heir Penny.

Not too sad at all. Never really was a fan of him...especially since we were holding him down and keeping him from being his "old self in Seattle."

C. Paul trade adventure; ESPN TrueHoop(pg. 17)
Matthew replied to ball junkie's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
I'm still not writing off the chance that NO trades Paul. I think that this is a way for Paul to get people off his back and to be PC. He only used the word "hope." That is not definitive. It is also possible that NO's GM is saying this stuff to get teams to stop calling him left and right about acquiring Paul. It could still happen. -

"Everyone knows the Knicks have money to burn this summer, but while most of the speculation has centered on whether they'll be able to pry LeBron James from the Cavaliers, some believe the team has already ear-marked some of the dough for a lesser-known star: Joe Johnson, who previously played for Mike D'Antoni in Phoenix. As Frank Isola of the New York Daily News explains, some opposing team executives feel the deal is already in the bag, thanks not only to the D'Antoni/Johnson rapport but also Donnie Walsh's 20-year friendship to agent Arn Tellem. "I think that's a done deal," said one Eastern Conference GM." http://nba.fanhouse.com/2010/0...hnson-to-the-knicks/
