  1. Saw that too. Weird feeling for the Magic to be talked about in the national press.

    Magic Secure Arena Deal

quote: And at the end of the day, it's the players that win the games--not an arena. The Magic can do everything else in the world and it won't matter. They still need to assemble a better group around Dwight and I don't see that happening anytime soon. We have plenty of talent. Especially for the East. And the Arena doesn't win games for us, but without it we become the Donovan and the Kansas City Magic.

    Magic Secure Arena Deal

Two great things happened today. One, we got an up-tempo young coach that brings excitement to the team. And two, I'd say we've secured the Arena deal. With the buzz and crowds expected for the Donovan/Dwight express in Central Florida the County Council would be insane to try and stymie this deal more than they already have. If they even try to take this deal off course I don't think I'll be the only one with plenty of pitchforks, torches, and a little bit of tar and some feathers in stock.

    DONOVAN AGREES TO COACH MAGIC!

A lot of people have been giving Otis grief (cough, Bianchi), but it seems to me he was in perfect control the whole time. And it seems to me that Otis has just made right decision after right decision as GM....
  6. I can't think of a worse direction for the Magic to go in. Why would we hire another coach that yells stupidly at his players, gains little respect because he's never played in the league, runs a sluggish offense, and has never won a thing anywhere? For some reason he's getting notice now that he's the Pop's henchman on a great team with one of the leagues best big's. But he is by no means a good, or even solid, head coach on his own. And his resume glaringly reflects this. Otis has made great decisions thus far as GM, but bringing garbage down here from his days at Golden State could be a critical mistake. This is a young team and we need a young players coach to rebuild the chemistry that Napolean managed to squander. Not a Carlismo, another retread who has never taken a team anywhere. For my money, he's so bad that hiring him could actually make Bhill seem look a distant and decent coach (never thought I'd even think that). Say no to PJ....

    Griz hire Iavaroni as coach

Ugh. I still don't get why it took so long to do the axing. quote: 1. Stan Van Gundy2. Billy Donovan 3. Terry Porter 4. Rick Carlise 5. Brian Shaw 6. PJ Carlesimo 7. Herb Williams I basically agree with this list. But Brian Shaw should be above Porter in my opinion. edit: nvm

The Offical Don't Hire PJ Carlismo Thread

Was worried about both of those things Robo. But the Mac-o-roni thread failed. Did I spell Vomitisimo's name wrong?

    A joke....

    Everyone's apologies to Kobe

I could care less what he does in his personal life (that bull**** gets to much play in todays sports media atmosphere. Imagine if Babe "the Drunk" Ruth were playing with todays media). The fact is Kobe's the most dominant two-guard in the league. Pairing him up with Howard would make us instant title contenders, and I don't think anyone else in the league could do that right now. And as much as I love Darko, I'd trade anyone and everyone not named Howard to get him. That being said, Kobe's not going anywhere.....

    Everyone's apologies to Kobe

Right....I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about, but let me hijack this thread and turn it into a trade for Kobe thread. Hey, let's make him our coach too...

Who's left??? Running out of options

Carlisle is not the answer. He runs the same slow-paced disaster of an offense that Bhill runs. But our options are getting fewer and fewer. And I can't help but think that a lot of that has to do with the fact that it took us three friggin weeks to fire our coach....

Orlando's search for coach heats up (John Denton)

Good read. Can't imagine how akward those practices most have been. Sounds like D'Antoni's giving us a little help (and he probably doesn't want Iavaroni staying against him in the West). It's clear that if the Magic are offering the job we have by far the most talent. And anyone but PJ, please...

Orlando Magic should go after Kobe!!

Anyone who wouldn't want Kobe is completly crazed. Kobe and Howard is guranteed titles. In fact, the very thought of it gives me chills. But still...he's not leaving the Lakers anytime soon.
  19. quote: Hill feels the slow-down charge is largely unwarranted, saying the Magic ranked in the top 10 in fastbreak points, and that he could have tweaked the style as players matured. He points to injuries, lack of a go-to guy and several mistaken-prone youngsters who didn't know what the NBA marathon season was about. One of the excuses that is being repeated by Schmitz about the pace of Hill's offense is that we did indeed finish in the top 10 in fastbreak points. Hill sees this as vindication. But it seems to me that it even further illustrates his failings as a head coach. We ran the most sluggish and miserably paced offense in the NBA and we still finished in the top ten in FB points. That just shows how fast and athletic our young team is. If we had concentrated on a fast paced offense all year there is no doubt in my mind that we would have easily been top three (and our record markedly improved). One need only watch the tape of the first half of our victory at Chicago to see the potiential of an up-tempo offense. Injuries is a pretty paltry excuse (every team in the NBA has injuries), and the lack of a go to guy is equally weak. If we had no go-to-guy (and we didn't), why did we run a half-court isolation offense that favors that strength (our weakness)? Why did we not turn to the run and gun? This ended up being a major bit of contention for Otis as well as any sane fan who watched this years Magic nightly. It, combined with the lack of improvement out of youthful players, was reason alone to find a new coach. And if we do find the right coach (Adelman would have been perfect) those who are on Otis's case now (certain media types whose last names rhyme with itz and anchi)will be silent come this time next year.

    Rashard Lewis opts out

Someone explain something to me....Why do we want a guy that plays the same position as a player who is actually better than him, and already on our team? I thought our issue was shooting guard?

Stan Van Gundy Eyeing Orlando Job

quote: Junkie, relax man, you seem to be very tense since Brian is not our head coach anymore. Hahaha...Junkie's having Bhill withdrawls...But please, no Mustache Van Gundy, he's only slightly better than Bald Van Gundy...

The Angry Little Man's Fast Break Excuse

  25. quote: Hmmmm...Do I have confidence in Otis? You mean the same guy that lured the Knicks into a trade that rid the team of Stevie Headcase while bringing over Ariza and cap-space? You mean the same guy that drafted the NCAA all-time leading 3pt shooter? You mean the same guy that pulled off a draft day trade that got us the NCAA player of the year? You mean the same guy that traded away Kelvin Cato for Darko? You mean the same guy that signed Keith Bogans to a bargain basement contract? You mean the same guy that refused to overpay for Deshawn Stevenson? You mean the same guy that put this team in a position to go after a big name free agent this season? You mean the same guy that has forged a very strong relationship with the Magic players? You mean the same guy that has always been very cordial and forthcoming while talking with Magic fans? You mean the same guy that recognized Brian Hill was not th right coach for this team? Agreed. Explain to me how Otis is not the best GM in the history of the Magic? Seriously. Who's better? Who has assembled a better group of talent from the depths of so little talent, and managed to not (yet) let them wander West or into oblivion? And who made the tough decision at coach that was painfully obvious to see. Bianchi's found a niche as a sports writer, but he knows very little about basketball.
