    Embiid at #4.....Would You ???

Do we know that it is true that he has had 3 stress fractures in 4 years of playing ball? That is the only thing I know for sure and that is the only thing that can't be twisted by anyone involved in this whole thing.

Geez, where did you see that? What is next uncontrollable flatulance? Spontaneous combustion?

Exactly, all we do know for sure about the guy is...he gets hurt a lot. Has there ever been a single player in the history of the league that sustained multiple serious injuries like this before getting drafted and went on to stay relatively healthy? Not injury free, just healthy enough to be there when you need him. I honestly can't think of a single one. Oden and Roy are the first ones to pop into my head when I start thinking about this guy.

Because if he is not going to go top 3 then his agent is going to shoot for the first major market to make up the lost income from the draft spot. Why else would his agent not want to provide information to a team that could potentially draft him? This has heartbreak and nightmare written all over it, I'm actually shocked that there are so many people on the board that would be excited about this. The draft is a gamble because you don't know if these guys will pan out. We are talking about adding in an injury history to go along with the potential gamble. Even if his potential is what all of the experts say it is, what do you think the likely hood is that he is going to stay healthy? He hasn't played an 82 game season yet and he has 3 stress fractures under his belt. Is whatever is out of alignment with him going to magically fix itself when he starts to get pounded on for 82+ games?? Does your car fix itself when something is wrong after you drive it more?? Someone mentioned it when this all started, it's not like he hurt the foot by dropping a dumbell on it, he hurt it either running or cutting, does anyone actually think that is going to improve with age??

    Embiid at #4.....Would You ???

Lets see, 2 stress fractures to the back, 1 to the foot in 4 yrs of playing ball only 1 of which was at a high level, and we will not get to see the medical reports because his agent is already trying to push him to LA or BOS?? Well we just absolutely have to do that! Sign me up. I will bet everyone on the board a shiney new quarter that he ends up having his career cut short before he can actually help a team to move forward (ala Yao)...not a quarter for each member mind you, you all have to split the single shiney new quarter, don't spend it all in one place.

That isn't their goal, their goal is to get into the playoffs. They have no chance at advancing beyond that. You all saw the crap that got in as low seeds this year, do you really think AA and Kyrie along with whatever else they get/couldn't make that happen?

I don't think we have that type of gm either, I think he has a limit to what he well give up and he isn't going to reach. If Cleveland wants to win now they need an established player like Aaron if Aaron and 4 is not enough tell Cleveland to go find a better offer.

But if you miss on your evaluation of that tier 1 guy you have used up all of your assets. Our gm's have a history of doing that type of thing. We want Tony Battie? Let's give up Anderson and Drew when Cleveland was the team who needed a pf. Want to trade for Richardson? Sure we will give you a starting center and a first round pick. We start pissing away assets and we will have nothing to work with.

Me too, I would rather roll the dice on potential rather than on potential and an injury history.

Who is to say that teams aren't leaking that the medical reports came back fine in an effort to get a team like LA or Boston or whoever else to try and trade up to get him? I get that this is a different injury than Oden's, what is the same is a young kid with way too many injuries before he even begins to take an NBA beating. They may very well fix this issue, it doesn't really help us if we draft Ralph Sampson, Greg Oden, Sam Bowie, Brook Lopez, Zyldrunus Illgauskus, Bill Walton, etc

I was trying to quote the post with the doctors comment about fixing the injury and how this can't be compared to Yao. While I'm sure that medical procedures have advanced since then the fact remains that this is a young kid who has had 3 major injuries in what? 5 years of playing high level ball? He hasn't even had to play an 82 game season yet, and that is not even considering the fact that the latest injury came during workouts, not even in a game. What good is fixing it going to do if it reoccures? There is something going on with the kids body.

Just so I make sure I understand this correctly gambling on a player with potential who may or may not pan out is bad, but gambling on a player with high potential who has shown that he definitely has an injury history in a grand total of playing the game for a handful of years with a limited amount of games is a great idea??

    The Big 4 Idea

Pat Riley...king of the hypocritesAnd the Heat president delivered a strongly worded message for Heat superstar LeBron James in the wake of the team's NBA Finals loss to the San Antonio Spurs. "This stuff is hard. And you got to stay together, if you've got the guts. And you don't find the first door and run out of it," Riley said Thursday at his annual end-of-the-season news conference. LOL. You are right Pat, you don't run out the first door when things get tough. Just ask noted NBA stay together non-door runner outers Chris Bosh and Lebron James how they feel about it. I think we all remember them staying through the tough times in Toronto and Cleveland and leading their teams to the championship.

Big heavy guys that take lots of hits, just don't bounce back from these things. I think it's worse than an Acl for them. Injuries are one thing, backs and foot issues are major problems

It's a horrible idea. Have they all forgotten the Greg Oden story? Big guys that get injured before they start getting pounded on by nba centers are bad news.

It's not just that though, they attack the rim they are in constant motion. They have they same amount of shooters we used to have but you can't defend them because they don't park their guys at the three point line.

No you are supposed to believe all of that happened and then he betrayed Rob's confidence to a total stranger. I had a conversation with Nick at a media event while Dwight was still here and he told me he felt the team should go get Ron Artest. Nick is not part of the decision making team, he is in broadcast/community relations. It's that what you were looking for BJ?

I was thinking about this, if you look at guards that have come into the league without a consistent jumper vs bigs I honestly can't think of a single guard that didn't improve at least to the point of being passable. If you get a guy that is ultra fast they don't need to become Ray Allen, they just need to keep the defense honest.

We were going to either lose Hedo to FA or have to resign him to a long term expensive deal. That trade got us a future stretch 4, a replacement (and upgrade) over Hedo and cap flexibility to boot because Vince was going to become an expiring right around the time we needed to have cap space to reload. I would say that that trade was the smartest thing that Otis ever did...and then he promptly undid EVERY SINGLE THING THAT WAS GOOD ABOUT IT. I will be shocked if he ever gets another job in the league outside of selling peanuts.

Well honestly I think the best that we can hope for is a point guard with the obvious raw talent that Javaris Crittenton possessed. I mean in the limited minutes we all got to see out of him I think we can all agree that he would have been the type of guard that we should have moved heaven and earth for.

How well did Wall shoot coming into the league?
  24. I saw that Kyler reported this as well and I think they are both basing it on that nonsense article that came out yesterday. Having said that if it is true then it is a 2 yr deal does that mean his contract becomes valuable around the time we are looking to make a FA play? I guess it would depend on what we are giving up, what we get, and how the contract would match up with that FA time table.

I just read an article that Cleveland has been in the lottery 4 yrs in a row. It doesn't seem like it has been that long, I gotta think that if you want to over haul the lottery system that would be a good place to do it. If a team is there multiple times then they are not doing a good job of trying to rebuild, there should be some sort of sliding scale where they get penalized for stinking for long periods of time.
