    Thanks, maybe next year?

Alright Piston fans, its time to go. Lets give them their forum back. Thanks for hospitality and overall I had a lot of fun talking hoops and a lot of smack with you all. Maybe we will see you next year. I am sure the Magic will be back in the post-season but you may get someone else, we will see. Until then. thanks for putting up with me and I wish your team all the best (as long as they don't beat the Pistons ). Also, I was stressing out big time the last couple of games. Any fan who says the Pistons had it is not being honest or just not realistic. Its amazing the progress the Magic have made from last year.

More Van Gundy whine, and other stuff

Magic checklist for game 3 1) Make sure the Pistons are fully motivated for game 5 by guranteeing a win and telling everyone how you are the better team - check 2) Have head coach complain about the calls and call out the refs so they will be upset with your team in game 5 - check 3) Tell everyone how you would have played game 4 differently so they know what to expect in game 5 - check

Why are you so bitter Magic Fans?

Well, I think a lot has been made of "the Switch" that has taken on a life of its own. As if the Pistons could be undefeatable if they wanted to be which is not the case. They are good but they are not that good. Hard nosed defense and lobbying for calls has always been a part of the playoffs and increases after the 1st round. Your coach Van Gundy has been lobbying pretty hard in between games for more calls. In 06 the Heat were just the better team. Riley had them clicking at just the right time and they even went on to win the NBA title. Last year was a dissapointment but those things happen. More on the calls. Maybe next year you will get the Cavs. Try staying calm through all the Verajio flops and Lebran James thinking its his god given right to get a call whevener he misses a shot. And their coach is always yelling from the sidelines whenver he does not get that call. Point is, the Pistons have not done anything that any other team would not be doing. Especially with the Magic. I am sure Boston and Clev would be trying to avoid getting into a scoring match with the Magic as well. Nobody is going to wave at Howard as he runs in for the highlight slam. It does not work that way. Pistons are up 3-1 because they take care of the ball and execute down the stretch.

You are right. Howard did sign an extension. I am thinking, maybe it was not such of a great idea to post in here. I did because I wanted to know what the fans thought of their team but all the Piston hate gets to you after a while. I really do not want to hate the Magic. When you think about it, its only been a handfull of fans that have gotten me going in here so that should not be a reflection on the Magic fan base as a whole. If the Pistons are not able to compensate for aging players then what does that matter to the Magic? There will always be someone else out there to compete with. We have had Boston, New jersey, Indiana, Miami, Cleveland, and now Boston again. I really do hope the Magic draw somoeone else in the 2nd round next year. You guys need to see that other playoff tested teams are going to play Howard, Lewis, Turkoglu and everyone else the same way the Pistons have been. Things do get physical in the post-season and the team that complains about it is the team that is not ready for it. Whether or not the Magic will be or the Pistons can stay in contention are things to be seen. I guess its just the nature of fans to hate the other team. If we didn't then maybe it would not be as much fun. Maybe hate is a strong word. Can't say I hated New Jersey, Indy or Miami. Did not mind seing them fall on hard times but I did not exactly feel the need to dance on their graves either. Whatever, enjoy the future.

Pistons do have some prospects for the future and Dyess signed a 5 year deal last year. If I was a Magic fan I would be most concerned about 2 things. 1) Re-Signed Howard. Maybe it was me but Howard has had a look about him that he just cannot win with this team. Maybe Howard will be a Laker in a couple of years. 2) All the cap money spent on Lewis. Even if Howard does re-sign most of the cap money will be used up on Howard and Lewis. So far Howard and Lewis are not exactly Shaq and Kobe.

    In a perfect 2008 draft/offseason...

Pistons will probably be cutting Jarvis Hayes and Juan Dixon in the offseason. If you are looking for another starter.

Dooling....3 crazy calls cost games in the playoffs.

quote: Originally posted by Mr. T:The Pistons are very good, but how can you deny they are a dirty team? How many times does rip push off, hook defenders, grab shorts, and throw elbows during the course of the game? A LOT. Whats worse is how they can be so physical and dirty, but still flop like little girls. Are you serious? Pushing off is not a dirty play. Throwing Elbows and grabbing shorts? When and where has he done that? Pistons still have the image of being a dirty team ( with some ) from what happened alomost 20 years ago. This current team is far removed from the bad boys. They never seek revenge after one of their own is hurt, don't pick fights or try and take out the other teams top point guard. And they don't make excuses for losing. Its the playoffs. All teams worth anything step up the D and the refs know this. This why offensive teams who do so well in the reg season always fail in the playoffs. I hope you guys draw Clev or Boston next year so you can complain about how dirty their team is.
  10. How can Howard camp out under the basket for so long without getting a 3 second call? Physical play is a part of any playoff series. You just got a marshmellow team in the 1st round. If you had drawn Boston or Clev it would be the same. Reason why the Pistons are getting so many boards is because Dumars built a talented froncourt. Instead of throwing the bank at the 1st high profile FA who wanted to sign he had some patience and built a solid playoff ready frontcourt. How far did you think you could get playing 2 SF's and a D-league player around Howard?

How many Magic players has he tried to physically harm so far? Answer - none. Don't confuse talent and a will to win with being a dirty player. Maybe if the Magic had more than a cast of 2nd and 3rd string players to put on him he would not be doing as well.

    deficits

How many teams have come back from 1-3 who did not have homecourt? Its much easier when 2 of the 3 games are at home rather than on the road.

Vote for the un-official subway sub of the year!

Is Subway a forum sponsor? If not then why the free plug?

Bad officiating caused us today's game.

I really can't imagine Stern wanting Detroit in another finals. they are a proven ratings killer. How so? Do you have any evidence to backup that claim? If last years lowest rated Finals of all-time taught us anything its that people want to see 2 equally matched teams. You will get that with the Pistons.

Odd because its been looking to me like the Magic have been getting the calls. Especially after Vangundy whined so much after game 1. So we got a 3pt shot late in a 3rd quarter, give it a rest already. The Magic got more than their share of calls in game 3 to more than make up for it. Also in my scorecard no Piston has picked up a flagrant foul out of frusteration because they can't guard a guy or has intentionally tried to trip up a Magic player so far.
