  1. Here's a few facts on the Fournier/Oladipo debate.

When Fournier is on the court, the Magic offensive rating is 102.4, and when he's off the court it's 100.9, for a net positive rating of 1.5.

When Fournier is on the court, the opponent offensive rating is 105.9, and when he's off the court it's 90.0, for a net negative rating of 15.9.

The net Fournier on court vs off court is negative 14.4.

When Oladipo is on the court, the Magic offensive rating is 104.1, and when he's off the court it's 96.9, for a net positive rating of 7.2.

When Oladipo is on the court, the opponent offensive rating is 103.1, and when he's off the court it's 99.6, for a net negative rating of 3.5.

The net Oladipo on court vs off court is positive 3.7.

    Right.

When Victor Oladipo isn't scoring well, he does a lot of things to help his team win. He rebounds very well for a shooting guard, has played elite defense so far this season both on and off the ball, passes well, and will create a couple fast breaks a game off steals and blocks.

When Evan Fournier isn't scoring well, he's a slightly above average on-the-ball defender. When Fournier isn't scoring well, he's an ok 8th man.

Also, the idea that Fournier needs to take Oladipo's minutes is insanity anyway, given that he currently leads the NBA in minutes played.

  2. Yup. You're going to have to play 20 minutes per game and hit a defensive rating in the 80s for me to call you elite.

People on this board are very defensive of Dedmon for some reason.

I mean, I like Dedmon. He's a solid rotation big for his defense, even if he's more or less useless on offense. That's fine. There are guys who made great careers out of being that guy.

But lets not lose sight of what Dedmon IS, which is basically "Like Birdman, but slightly better".

  3. I have faith in Oladipo because I see some Westbrook in him. He's one of those "deal with his 10% flaws for the 90% good things he does on the court" type players.

People have been ****ting on Westbrook for years until inexplicably the narrative changed course on him when Durant was out.

You guys would have hated Westbrook.

What's weird to me is that Oladipo is largely playing like what everyone expected him to be when he was drafted(a shorter Andre Iguodala), and everyone's freaking out about him, as though there is no middle ground between star and scrub.

    I don't get it.

  4. My stream was too blurry to see any missed calls, but I'll just say that this might've been a breakout game for Oladipo. Even when he had a terrible shooting percentage around the 3rd quarter and some people were complaining, I could see the determination that he was playing with and he came up HUGE for us.

I counted at least 5 of his misses that were pretty blatant fouls.

  5. Honestly, my hope is that HBO just lets Simmons put up a mostly subscription based site and takes all the best writers to it.

I say that sincerely. Before ESPN let all its best sportswriters leave, Insider was absolutely worth 10 dollars a month. A version of Grantland that had even less interest in banal stories that every other site is running? Essentially a cross between Grantland, Ball Don't Lie circa '08, and FreeDarko circa '06? Oh man, that would be tremendous.
