    Bill Simmons on V.C. - Ha-Ha, Interesting!(link)

  2. We know the league has given the offensive player every advantage, but should they start looking at giving the defense a chance to get catch up? Should they increase the number of fouls each player can commit during a game? It's by no mean s a "cure all" but it's really frustrating when your star player has to sit out for a period of time because he may foul while playing defense (or to a lesser degree offense). Why not just penalize the team with a technical whenever a player commits more than 6 fouls? I'm sure there are other ways to address the issue as well, but i really think they should take a look at it.

NBA's think, know and prove (Bill Simmons)

I just don't get this to be honest. We can't win without Hedo, but Hedo can't make the Raptors better. We won the same amount of games as last year. We are again the best defensive team in basketball, we are the second best offensive team in the game. What is up with these morons that keep bringing up these things as evidence as to why we can't win? It boggles the mind. Last year i remember a media member saying we can't beat the Cavs for the very reasons that they claim we need to beat them this year. It's a ridiculous argument. While i do believe the Cavs have the upper hand, it's not as a result of what we have done but what they have done. We are better than last year, but the Cavs are better than they were last year as well. They have an advantage at 2 positions (PF,SF) and they have a guy who can limit the effectiveness of our best player. I give them the advantage in a series against us no doubt. But as i said it's not about the moves we made, it's about the moves they made. this years Magic would kick last year's Magic's arse.

Shard and Jameer key to Finals run. [link]

Rashard Lewis, and Jameer Nelson. Rashard Lewis is important because his position - a stretch power forward - is important. And unless Lewis looks for his own shot and then connects on his own shot at a high rate, the Magic are in trouble. Why? Because Lewis contributes absolutely nothing else of value. Nothing. So-so defense, league-worst rebounding at his position, no real playmaking. He has to hit shots, or he has to sit, quickly, for Ryan Anderson. Who, by the way, was a better all-around player this year than Lewis while making (come on, don't get haughty, you knew this was coming) nearly $17 million less than Rashard Great read. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/bl...25#remaining-content The section in bold upsets me to no end. Rashard is becoming less and less relevant to the success of the team. I've said numerous times that i'd prefer Ryan and Brandon manning the four over Rashard. He is USELESS unless he is making shots. I'd go so far as to call him a liability and i'm shuddering to think what Jamison is gonna do to him if we play the Cavs The worse part is we can't even trade him. We are stuck with a small forward masquerading as a Power Forward who can't rebound, make plays or even dribble without falling over. Sigh...i feel better now
  5. I still maintain that we will not face the Cavs in the ECF because the Celts are going to beat them. However, if we do face the Cavs i have to give them the upper hand. It's not a sure thing that they beat us, but i think they would. But as i said before, it won't come to that

Or a back handed compliment? You decide. quote: In 2010 you won't find an angrier team than the Orlando Magic. Dwight Howard leads the league in technical fouls. He leads the league in rebounds and blocked shots -- again -- and can't get any serious run for MVP. He had to watch the Lakers celebrate their championship last year in his house. Coach Stan Van Gundy's past three playoff appearances read: conference finals, conference semis, NBA Finals. He's won 18 playoff games in the past four years. And yet the only moniker bestowed upon him was Shaq's label "the master of panic." No coach out there faces a bigger fight for respect. But the essential anger influx came from Matt Barnes, a bargain free-agent signee who gives the Magic an edge in addition to 8.8 points and 5.5 boards a game, all for the price of $1.6 million. Which is another reason for him to be angry. He thought he'd cash in on the Golden State Warriors' upset of the Dallas Mavericks in 2007. Instead he signed for $3 million in 2007-08, a one-year deal for $927,000 in Phoenix last season, now this. The Magic contain enough anger to make up for the impassive Vince Carter. That's why they led off our list of superlative squads -- the extreme teams -- that define the most intriguing categories of the 2010 playoffs. On to the other nominees: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/...layoffoutlook-100415 You wouldn't like me when i am angry

Not to defend Skip but he has been pretty high on the Bobcats since the trade and i agree that they CAN beat us. To say they WILL is not only strong but insulting to the second best team record wise and probably hte best team in the league. But the Cats do have the tools to give us trouble. I agree with him that the Celtics can and probably will beat the Cavs in a seven game series. I don't see why they can't to be honest. Cavs are the favorite but the Celts live for the playoffs.
  15. quote: Originally posted by Magicfan1961: quote: Originally posted by Darth Evil Dead:Fantastic. I am so glad we dont have to play Boston in the second round. Even though we would still beat them anyways. Boston plays hard. Atlanta is a soft team. I rather watch Hartford runaway from Dwight, then Perkins hard fouling and bumping Dwight around for a series. Atleast KG, Perk, and Rondo will beat up the Cavs in a 7 game series, so that the Cavs will be tired in the Eastern Finals. This works out perfect for the Magic. The Celtics are not going to give the Cavs any problems at all. It would not suprise me if the Cavs swept them. I am not even sure that the Celtics can beat the Heat. I actually predicted that the Celts would beat the Cavs if they meet in the playoffs. I guess we'll see.

McGrady: "I'm not a sixth man"

If we do attain McGrady what would we expect from him? How would he help us? At the moment the only asset he still seems to have is his play making ability. He can pas the rock. could we use him as our play maker next to Vince

McGrady: "I'm not a sixth man"

T-Mac is just hurting himself with those comments. He has zero bargaining chips right now. I know a player should believe in himself, but to say at this point of your career you are not a sixth man is just crazy.
