  1. Cool. He'd definitely be and upgrade over what we've had since CLee was traded.
  2. I'm not saying i'm opposed to it, but i don't get the love of OJ Mayo. He's kinda undersized isn't he?

We will have Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony by 2012

What about three way trade with Golden State? http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2bkcpkc Denver gets: Monta Ellis Andris Bienderis Brendan Wright Vladimir Radmanovic Orlando Gets Carmelo Anthony Chris Anderson Golden State gets Vince Carter JR Smith Marcin Gortat Why for Denver: They get back bonified talent for Melo in the form of Monta, genuine starting caliber center in Biendris, and a young piece. Plus they shed the long term contract of Anderson. Why for Orlando: Get Melo. Nuff said Why for Golden State?: They get a talented 2 guard in JR Smith who can stroke it from three, shed the contract of Beindris while getting a cheaper replacement and gets a valuable expiring contract and veteran in V.C. Orlando: PG-Jameer/Duhon/J-Will SG-Pietrus/Redick SF-Melo/Q-Rich PF-Rashard/Ryan/Bass C-Dwight/Anderson :headbang:

    C. Paul trade adventure; ESPN TrueHoop(pg. 17)

Chris Paul is my favorite NBA player outside of Dwight Howard, and it has always been my dream to have CP3 as a member of the Magic. but now that it's possible it seems...strange. I just don't like the idea of getting rid of Jameer. I know that its a trade we MUST make if we get the opportunity. But still, it feels wrong.

VC, the expiring contract that isn't

quote: Originally posted by Noonskadoodle17: In several places around this site, members of the Orlando Pinstriped Post community have written that Orlando Magic guard Vince Carter has an expiring contract, which makes him a desirable trade chip as NBA teams look to cut costs before the next collective bargaining agreement arrives sometime next year, potentially after a lengthy lockout. For clarification's sake, we should note that Carter's contract doesn't expire next summer, nor is it a team option. It's what one might term as a "semi-expiring" deal. Yes, it can end next summer, but it'll come at a price. Carter has a partially guaranteed deal for the 2011/12 season. If he is not waived before June 30, 2011, Carter's salary of $18.3 million becomes fully guaranteed; if he is waived by the above date, he pockets $4 million and becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1. The $4 million figure will stay on his team's cap for that year. I assure you I'm not picking nits here; these distinctions are important. If the Magic elect to trade Carter, they'll likely have to include $3 million in cash--the maximum allowable amoun--in the bargain to cover most of Carter's guarantee, which is a fact to consider when trying to evaluate potential trade partners. Which ones wouldn't mind having to cover $1 million of Carter's guarantee? Would they demand another asset, such as a future draft pick, as further compensation? Those details don't change the fact that Carter will almost assuredly become a free-agent next summer, as it's simply hard to imagine that any team is willing to pay him $18.3 million when it could simply pay him to go away. But the circumstances around the pending free agency merit attention. Can't overlook them, no matter how silly they might seem. http://fanpeeps.com/-8p4j I think people also don't realize how valuable this "technicality" actually is. Vince can basically clear 14 million off any team next year. Instantly! No waiting till the off season for it to come off the books. THAT IS HUGE! You could basically acquire any good player if his team wants to clear cap space.

    Paul wants out (with link)

I agree about the third team, Trade 1 http://games.espn.go.com/nba/t...hine?tradeId=27so8dx but if we are gonna send Jameer someplace then send him home Trade 2 http://games.espn.go.com/nba/t...hine?tradeId=2bvsyer PG-Paul/Duhon SG-Redick/Richardson/Green SF-Young/Posey/Kapono PF-Rashard/Bass/Orton C-Howard/Speights Depth at every position with a mix of youth, athleticism and vets.

Magic going in for Chris Paul

quote: Originally posted by the notorious S.A.C.: Realgm is reporting Knicks will trade anyone but Amare for Paul...Lol. Orlando' bottom 5 are better than any player the Knicks could offer. Why don't they just offer a dozen Krispy Kreme glazed donuts a box of nilla wafers and a corn dog for Paul. Seriously they have nothing to offer except the lottery pick they will have after this season is over. Even the Nets could offer more than Knicks. yet people keep saying they have the best package for Paul. Crazy
  8. The part of the rumor that interests me is that a third team might be interested in acquiring Marcin. Right now there are two teams i cna think of that would be a good spot for Gortat. OCK and Detroit. I think they are realistic and have a very good chance of happening. They makes us better IMO http://games.espn.go.com/nba/t...hine?tradeId=2bznmg6 http://games.espn.go.com/nba/t...hine?tradeId=25gtdmb
  9. I was reading an article on NBA.com about John Wall and found this little tidbit interesting quote: When Wall plays with Gilbert Arenas in the fall -- and, unless the Wiz and Magic swap Arenas for Vince Carter, as has been rumored for months, that's what's going to happen -- Saunders plans to play the two of them together, with newly acquired Kirk Hinrich spelling each as needed, and according to the situation. And while Saunders will flop Wall and Arenas on occasion, Wall will have the ball in his hands 80 to 90 percent of the time. Arenas had some of his best games in his suspension-shortened season last year when Earl Boykins was on the ball and he played the two, and some of his best work in Washington came near the start, when Larry Hughes ran the point and Eddie Jordan scrapped the Princeton offense to get Arenas some looks off screens. Wizards Insider: VC for Gil *will* happen

    I really think wall can help us and i also believe he can play the two with Jameer running the point. I found this video where NBAtv discussed the John Wall Gilbert Arenas issue. codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" height="385" width="640" > value="transparent" > value="never" > name="movie" /> /> /> pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowScriptAccess="never" height="385" width="640" src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LBEn2BrvU4&hl=en_US&fs=1" />

    magic improvement?

I didn't want to start a new thread, but after coming to grips with the disappointment of not making a "major splash" so far this post season i thought about the reasons for staying pat and tweaking the roster instead of over hauling it. ALLOWING STORY LINES TO PLAY OUT There are multiple story lines and players around the league that we need to keep an eye on as the season progresses. If they play out the way we hope we could drastically upgrade our team at the deadline. The ones i think we'll be most interested in is 1) Gilbert Arenas in Washington: Can he return from his suspension and play at a superstar level at the 2 guard spot? Many might not want arenas but he is a genuine scoring machine and would help us tremendously. If he can show us something special Otis might pull the trigger for him 2) Chris Paul is not happy being on a struggling team, and might force a trade if his team is again going nowhere. We might be able to convince N.O. to send him east. 3) Philly is another team that stands on the line between rebuilding and contending. If the deadline approaches and they are in the tank they might just be willing to start the rebuilding process sooner rather than later. Can u say Iggy and Brand for Gortat and Vince? *There are others as well, just can't go through them all. BOOSTING THE VALUE OF OUR TRADEABLE ASSETS Vince, Bass, Gortat and even Peaches for various reasons came up short and have hurt their trade value. If Gortat and Vince especially can really get it together by the deadline then it will improve our chances of landing a star. 2012 No, not the end of the world as predicted by the Mayans. Otis clearly wants to have as much cap room as possible going into 2012. Not giving Hedo the contract he wanted was a clear sign that he is reluctant to take on long contracts. He is clearly giving himself a chance at landing CP3 or another top class player going into the prime of Dwight's career. A smart move IMO. REDEMPTION Otis likes this team. He acquired Vince because he thought he was an upgrade on Hedo. He ended up with egg on his face because of Vince's no show in the playoffs. Rashard had a horrific year and clearly struggled meshing with Vince. If they both return to form this year we could be right there with a chance to win it all.

    UNDER THE CAP FOR 2011?

Is it possible for us the be under the cap next year if we acquire expiring contracts for Bass, Gortat, and Pietrus? With Vince having only 4 million under the cap next year would we be able to sign Carmelo? Or would Rashard, Jameer and Dwight's contracts basically kill that possibility?

OKC dosen't need West because they have Ibaka. Plus West's best chance of getting a ring is with us and he and Chris Paul are very close. I agree, but we're taking on too much salary here. keep anderson, give new orleans some cap relief. west goes to okc and gets on a good team, okc gets a good post offense guy in west and a good post defense guy in okafor. We start Paul, JJ, pietrus, shard, dwight duhon, posey, posey, anderson/bass, gortat ?, ?, stanley robinson, bass/anderson, orton I'm not really great t the salary cap issue. What kind of Salary would we be lookign at? Tiny change on your thoughts Paul, Q. Plus if we do that i don't think we keep redick. Plus i don't see why OKC would want Jameer. I think we'd have to ship him out in another trade.

And except for the fact Mo Pete can't be combined with anyone in a trade for 60 days. OKC gets a talented big man to anchor the middle and a defender/ dangerous three point shooter off the bench. I don't see why they don't pull the trigger. I'm not sure about the trade issue with Peterson as it worked in trade checker.
  17. If we get Chis Paul we ship Okafor to Oklahoma City in a three way. Orlando Trades: Vince Carter Pietrus Gortat Anderson Orlando Gets: Chris Paul Nick Collison Morris Peterson David West New Orleans Trades Chris Paul David West Emeka Okafor New Orleans gets: Marcin Gortat Jeff Green Ryan Anderson Vince Carter OKC Trades Jeff Green Morris Peterson Nick Collison OKC gets Emeka Okafor Pietrus Isn't it beautiful I think this trade is full of win for everyone involved. Even works on Trade Checker http://www.realgm.com/src_chec....php?tradeid=5619333 Of course we would have to trade Jameer for a two guard but our new lineup would be: PG-Paul/Duhon SG-(New Guy)/Q Rich SF-Lewis/Morris Peterson PF-David West/Brandon Bass C Dwight/Collison

Al Harrington: "I like the Magic"

If we get Al Harrington then it will be the final nail in the coffin as far as the relevance of Rashard Lewis. I really hope Orlando trades this guy because the situation isn't great for either party. He is a shade of his former self because of how he's used. Right now i see him as great fit in Utah as they have no great post player and no true number two to Deron Williams. Kirilenko would look nice in out starting small forward spot.

Iggy can run the point allowing Jameer, Pietrus and Rashard to play off the ball and space the floor for him. Plus our perimeter defense gets a big upgrade with Iggy and Pietrus. Brand comes off the bench and plays both PF and C giving us a legitimate scorer and rebounder down low. C.J. Watson brings scoring and defense off the bench. i think you meant.. jameer/cj iggy/jj shard/pietrus brand/ryno dwight/miller iggy becomes our 3rd option on offense behind dwight & shard (which would be perfect for him). he also becomes the young, athletic wing defender we've been longing for The reason i don't put Brand in the line up is because i don't want to completely go away from the stretch four, just give us an option against bigger teams plus another low post scorer.

  22. I know there has been a lot of talk about bringing in Chris Bosh, Boozer and other power forwards, but i think that would be a mistake. We have two guys who are more than capable at the 4 spot and with a little work they could become special players. Ryan is only 21 and has all the skills you like in a stretch 4. At 24 Bass is a rugged Power Forward who can score in the post and has a deadly mid range game. If Management is intent on putting Rashard at the three then we really need to utilize Bass and Ryan at the 4. They could develop into the deadliest combo in the league at the Power Forward position. Our most glaring need IMO is a wing who can get to the basket and score/ draw fouls in crunch time. Gortat and V.C's expiring, Pietrus, and or Redick can help to get such a player (Magette, Caron Butler etc). We always complain about the team not developing young players, here is our chance to do just that. Let them play.
