  1. I am close to hating what he has become.

I watched the video from today, and I just stared. Empty. I could not believe I was looking at Dwight Howard, the man I've idolized since we drafted him back in 2004 and supported, defended and cheered for through all the negativity regarding picking him over Okafor, his rise to stardom and finally becoming a superstar in this league. I did not envision this a year ago. I did not expect this kid to turn into this guy.

Where did you go Dwight? Where is the love you said you have for this team and this city? The love for the fans? You waive questions away like you don't care that we care. Like you don't want anything to do with us anymore. You act like reporters are annoying you because they, like us, want to know what's going on with you. You act like you're annoyed you're here. What happened to you man?

You're turning into all that I hate about primadonna stars in sports. I never liked LeBron, and it's really sad to see you sink to that level because like the rest of Magic fans, I really thought you were different. I thought we had our Tim Duncan. But in the end of the day, it's about you, your brand, your name, your fame. What happend?

I just want to tell you, Dwight, that things won't be better playing for the Nets. You seem to want to go there. Play with Deron. Why haven't you tried to pull HIM over here? You said you wanted to create your own path. Is that path being created to follow others on their path? You will be "Dwight, who joined Deron and his Nets".

You will always be in the shadow of other NY teams and you will join the hatetrain LeBron called upon himself, by joining another team and other superstars, instead of staying with your team and building your own legacy. Follower. Not a legend.

Did this change so dramatically with higher contracts compared to players of yesteryear? Did the 8-9 figure contracts kill the love for the game? Did money create selfish primadonnas that seem to be losing loyalty to the team that drafted them, by each generation?

That said, I hope the people of Orlando don't boo him on Saturday. It will only cement his will in leaving. If they cheer, make him feel wanted here, it MIGHT hit a nerve and he might realise he will never be as loved in any other city, as he is loved in Orlando, the city that raised him, made him what he is today. Make him feel wanted. Needed. Don't boo him away.

    Dwight, man, where are you?!

I was there with you thinking Dwight was different, but have had signs that he's like the majority of athletes out there.

He has thrown his coach and his teammates under the bus during crunch playoff times. He whines like a b*tch at refs CONSTANTLY. He leads the league in techs (I know Lebron does twice as much and doesn't get any, but it's the point), he has been suspended, he has boned the cheerleaders and had a child from one, and the big city lights are calling him because he wants the limelight. Also, he is terribly immature and has the "coddled since age of 12" mentality. And he wants what he wants when he wants it just because he's Dwight.

  2. I honestly will be so dissipointed in in Orlando fans if the same thing happens here as did in Denver. Yes Dwight requested a trade. Many players do. Not everyone gets them either. Melo requested one, but instead of pouting when he didn't get one immediately, he showed up, did his job and continued playing his heart out. Kept putting up fantastic numbers the whole way through, while his own teams fans booed him every time he touched the ball.

And I just know the same thing will happen here. Because fans in the Central Florida area are idiots who will turn on someone in a heartbeat. Dwight will go out there, and continue to give everything he has for the team because that is the kind of player he is. That alone in itself is something to cheer for. Are you all telling me that you will boo him while he is putting up 25 pts, 12 rbs, and 3 blcks a night for us and leading Orlando to one victory after another? All because he requested a trade?

His job is to play basketball at his best for whatever uniform he is wearing. That's what he is under contract to do. He is perfectly within his right to request a trade. Players do it all the damn time, doesn't mean he will get it. It's not his fault that the media turns it into a circus. Dwight has made it clear, he want's a trade even though he likes Orlando and doesn't want to leave. He'd like to see the team become better and change so he doesn't have to do that, he just doesn't see it happening. Until he is traded however, he will continue to be a professional and play at his best for this team.

How in the hell is that unprofessional? Your telling me if you didn't like the people you worked with at all and had the ability to move to another job like he does you wouldn't? Hell, in 90% of the scenarios, most people would, and would give no warning what so ever out of fear of being fired for it. So don't give me this whole butt hurt attitude thing most of you guys are putting up.

And for those mad about he is handling it, the dude is freaking 25. He is not some damn experienced politician or business man trained in the art of spoken word. He is just at the age where most people are only just starting there professional careers. Few people in the world are qualified to handle a scenario where every single word they say, text, tweet, etc. is broken down on every single sports outlet imaginable then taken different ways by millions of people. Cut the dude a break, or at the very least, try to picture how you would handle this situation. I have no problem with how Dwight is handling this at all. It's a difficult time in his career and I'm sure were I in his situation, I'd probably go back on a few words I said too.

So I will be there on the home opener for the Magic, and the moment Dwight is announced I will cheer as loud as possible, and curse out every single fan for booing him. It is classless, and has no justification at all. The ONLY WAY their is justification for it is if Dwight refuses to play or throws games. There by hurting the team competiitively directly with his actions.

I would not boo in game. I was more thinking during introductions. It would be classless to boo him helping the team in game.

  3. He deserves to be booed. I would not hold it against Dwight if he played out the terms that he agreed to in his contract. He has no obligation to us past his contract, but doing it like this is a b*tch move.

And don't give me the "he's letting us get something for him." He would need to sign and trade at season's end anyway to get max money.

  4. Tbh, I am getting sick of his attitude also. Don't get me wrong, I want him back. But it has altered by view about him fundamentally.

I think he deserves to be booed as well, especially with the reports that he is very upset he didn't get traded and he hasn't recanted his demands in any way. I can't stand how he isn't willing to man up and is busy trying to save face.

Edit: And I think the lockout really hurt us. It let Dwight stew in his own juices for far too long.

  5. Yes he's obligated to his contract, and it would be better if this all could have stayed behind closed doors, but in the end, I'd much rather him say he doesn't want to stay and give us an opportunity to get something out of him, then to just have this belief that he was going to return, only to have him take his talents elsewhere like Lebron did.

That could still be done with a sign and trade.
