That's not Ron Paul's platform. That is libertarian 101. -

Once again, I never said that. But go on ahead arguing whatever you like in your head. -

The only reason I mentioned it was because the thread had the ad hominem attacks built into it that whoever thinks differently is an idiot. -

The fun of the whole thing is, we will get to see who is right in our lifetime. Although you will always have the communist argument: It really really works, trust me, we just haven't been able to do it right yet. -

No. It is not. All the a person is entitled to is liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Liberty means the ability to do anything you want as long is it does not hurt another. I do not believe anyone is entitled to any service or product at the cost of others. Edit: Actually, thinking about this is very interesting. What do you consider personal liberty? I consider it what I said above, but that does not include any "right" to anything produced by another person, just that one should have no impediments to pursuing one's own production or desires in the world. -

I actually did have an IQ test back in my youth, and I scored high enough to be able to join MENSA. In my opinion, the only role of government in society is to protect the personal liberties of its citizens. So yes, all the rest is a waste. (And this certainly does not occur with military presence overseas.) The government does nothing but take money from productive members and AT BEST redistributes it inefficiently. At worst...well a great example is Solyndra. The depth with which Keynesian theory permeates society in all aspects and has simply become the status quo is disheartening and amusing in a sad, pathetic way. The irony is, the ones able to profit individually, not by government decree, are the ones that see it for the fallacy that it is. -
But you don't understand the intricacy of the Casey Anthony case and the subtlety of Trey's understanding. Although there was no evidence of a murder, no evidence that she was present and no evidence she did it, everybody KNEW. THEY JUST KNEW. How can they not convict her?????????

No that is impossible. The vacuum that the owners/players work in is completely separate from the real world. They are the only business design where the consumer is irrelevant in all business negotiations.
-
My whole point was that you were arguing something that the OP wasn't saying. He has SAID that isn't what he was saying. Yet you continue to insist, that NO, you are more right about the original intent of the OP than the OP. As I stated previously, you make up your own argument and attempt to win it. Oh, and although Brooks is also arguing what you are, your posts are full of more idiocy and hot air. That is why I choose to respond to yours. His are so vanilla it's almost boring.

For how smart you seem to think you are, you really don't get it do you? The point was NEVER that as a fan one thinks they have a right to dictate labor policy (once again, arguing your own point, instead of what is presented.) It is that during this process, there seems to be no consideration of the effects the process itself has on fans and as a result, the fans/source of income will show their displeasure by taking their money elsewhere.
-
I agree. But as I read the OP, his point was that in this labor discussion his desires don't seems to be under consideration at all and that lack of consideration is what is making him want to take his money elsewhere. He even points out how the previous labor discussion didn't bother him for the exact reason that he felt the customer was considered.
-
What the customer wants is (should be) the primary concern in every business decision. It may not be the only concern, but as the customer is the supplier of capital, they should be the first and primary consideration of any decision. The OP's point is that there does not seem to be consideration of the customer, the contributor of the capital they are fighting about and that is changing his perspective on where he should put his savings. Of course, you can ignore that point and discuss the rights of employers and employees to negotiate and bash the OP. You ignore my previous post about this exact point and then discuss how I didn't distinguish every class of customer and make side arguments that are not relevant to what I wrote (and you don't even bother to quote my whole post emphasizing your side argument. ) You are very good at the lawyer tactic of "Making a different point and arguing it when the original doesn't work." I am sure you even feel really good in the end because "you have won your made up argument." Congrats.

I enjoy college football very much. I was trying to keep my point within the professional sports realms. :)

What you don't understand is that his point is the NBA is like a business and their business decision to lockout is making him seriously consider taking his money elsewhere. Further, they are jerking his chain around as a paying customer with his season tickets. You seem to miss the distinction that "what the fans want" = what the customers want.

Yeah, stay classy stupid Americans.

I have been considering following high school football teams in the area. The Bucs are always blacked out, and frankly, it makes me lose interest. I am a fan because I want to be able to follow my team, not try to find illegal streams uploaded by some dude on a 56k connection. I love football and tbh, it would be fun to follow a "purer" version. I think leagues forget that fans are true customers of their products because of the fanaticism involved. The NBA already will not see a cent of my money in any fashion because of the way they run their league. I hate the rule changes they have made over the years that have changed the game fundamentally from the years that marked me in my youth, the years of Jordan and the Bulls. (Although I was a fan of neither.)
-
Can't wait to watch the Bucs game this weekend..... Oh wait. Blacked out again. I honestly don't understand the NFL. They put together a superior product on TV, really pushed for getting large amounts of TV revenue, and then punish those who don't live in the area and want to partake of said superior product in HD on their nice TV.

I'm going to call myself the Lakers and draft Dwight. AHHHHH YEAHHHHH. PS. Somebody logged onto Jareth's account and posted. I don't know who. I double checked and he was still in the gimp box.

Well played. Is Vernon Maxwell still available? I remember hearing rumors that he was going to save the Magic. -

Next season Dwight is going to be one arm shot putting free throws like Shaq. I can't wait.
