So that meet's your standard? It seems to me that the Patriots were in first place til they got beat when it really mattered.

It would be nice to have another division championship banner hanging from the rafters, but that is not what I want.

I have never once said that our team stinks or that I am not happy with being in first place. And I am pretty sure that we can get a home playoff series this year. But does that mean that we can't improve our team.

We may be in first place, but we are not ready for prime time until we get some real basic stuff fixed.

It is heart that gets you to the next level. That is what I am talking about.

The Magic should trade Rashard Lewis for Darrell Armstrong, who has plenty of heart.

  2. I disagree as well - part of the reason for Lewis' problems is that he's played out of position all season long and needs to play at the SF starting spot.

This only furthers the need for a starting big bodied PF (Wilcox, Haslem) to help Dwight inside on both ends of the floor.

As for getting someone like Artest - someone "like him", maybe, but Artest himself no thank you. He's a cancer and last time I checked the Kings aren't that great of a ball club with him on their roster.

  3. I thought the Inside the Magic show was great. It's always neat to see the things that go on beyond what the public sees. I'm looking forward to the next installment.

After watching the show, Rashard seems like a cool guy. He was complimented as being "very coachable" and "low maintenance" - a couple qualities you don't necessarily see in a lot of NBA players these days.

Magic Chief Operating Officer Alex Martins said he is encouraged by the fact that representatives from Bright House Networks and FSN-Florida are back at the negotiating table. For the first time in the 19-year history of the franchise, 35 of the Magic's games are being shown on FSN-Florida. Bright House, Central Florida's leading cable provider, does not offer FSN as a part of any of its packages. A sticking point is how much Bright House will pay FSN for its content and also the fact that Bright House wants to put FSN on a digital sports-tiered package. Forty-two of the Magic's games are being televised by FSN's sister station, Sun Sports Network.

Another load of BS from Alex Martins - stop attempting to tell the fans that some agreement may be in the works. This is the same person that signed the **** contract in the first place thinking something would be agreed upon between the two parties before the season started.

Unfortunately for a good chunk of Magic fans, including myself, will not get to see another Magic game on TV until after the All-Star break!! Thanks FSN, Bright House and Orlando Magic!!

The strange case of a starting point guard without a position continues. And it could go on and on.

Jameer Nelson isn't likely to see action for a third consecutive game tonight against the Nets at Amway Arena --- or beyond.

Coach Stan Van Gundy made it clear that he doesn't feel as if he's beholden to any player because he signed a contract, as Nelson did before the season to the tune of five years, $35 million.

It also means that Van Gundy doesn't feel as if he's beholden to GM Otis Smith, who stuck his neck out and signed Nelson to the deal before the season.

Lest anybody think that Stan Van and Otis might be at odds over the Jameer thing, Van Gundy said, "Otis and I have been on the same page. We haven't talked specifically about that situation. We talk about what's best for the team.'

With Glut at Guard Spots, Magic Should Make Deal So Lewis Can Move Back To Small Forward

The Magic need a true power forward, a rebounder and defender, preferably.

If they can get a starter --- hello, Kurt Thomas -- they can move Rashard Lewis back to his natural small forward spot and slide Hedo Turkoglu to shooting guard.

Lewis is frustrated and can't play power forward forever, trying to defender bigger guys inside.

Turk can play shooting guard, although he'll take on quicker players defensively. But the Magic have to find some rebounding help for Dwight Howard.

I like what Maurice Evans gives them at shooting guard because he's different than the rest. He can get to the rim and finish, but he can do that coming off the bench behind Turk.

I am in complete agreement in getting Rashard back to the 3. I'd love to see the Magic make a move for Udonis Haslem to fill the PF need.

  9. HA! What a joke. The Pistons are proving to everyone on national television that losing to the Magic earlier this week was a FLUKE. I wonder how long the winning streak against the Magic will go for this time around . . .

Orlando Magic philosophies during the 1st half:

    Defense? Who needs it.

    Rebounds? Nah, overrated.

Contesting a jump shot? You never know, they might actually miss a shot.

Taking it hard to the rim? Someone might get hurt. (See Keyon Dooling).

Free throws? It's only worth one point each shot you take.

If the Magic lose by less than 15 I'll be surprised. I wonder what Van Gundy could possibly say to the team at the half?

AUBURN HILLS, Mich - Orlando Magic starting point guard Jameer Nelson will miss his fourth consecutive game tonight because of a strained tendon in his right foot.

Nelson said he had hoped to play against the Detroit Pistons, but he is still favoring the foot and did not participate in the club's shootaround today at The Palace.

Coach Stan Van Gundy said he did not know when Nelson would be back.

Nelson has had both a CT-scan and an MRI on the foot, and said it revealed no structural damage.

He is doubtful for the Magic's 1 p.m. game Sunday at Amway Arena against the Boston Celtics.

  12. How sweet would it be to beat Detroit twice in one week?! On national TV too, now that would be great.

I say the Magic will compete and win IF:

    Turnovers are less than 14

Magic defense limits Detroit to 43% shooting

Hedo shoots 48% or better from the field

I'm worried about Jameer and his first game back after missing a few. Do you think he'll start or come off the bench?

    GO MAGIC

  13. Coming into this road trip, this was the game I was most worried about. That thought hasn't changed.

To even come close to competing, the Magic are gonna have to make shots . . . A LOT of them. No one can have an off night from the floor, or we'll lose by at least 15.

The PG matchup is unbelievably in Denver's favor, although Jameer relishes playing Iverson every time out. Maybe he can step up his game for this one, one can only hope.

If Dwight can get physical with Camby & Martin inside and get them into early foul trouble, he could be in for a big night.

I'll be ecstatic with a win, but I'm just gonna go with the ol' gut feeling here and say the Magic drop this one in Denver.

    Nuggets 115

    Magic 106
