    The Orlando Magic Off-Season Prophecy

I don't see Otis wanting to keep Rashard at PF. He may play there occasionally, but his primary position should be SF. Getting Battie back is like signing a free agent PF, and there has been lots of talk about needing to add another PF through free agency. If Battie comes back and doesn't contribute whatsoever (same goes for any PF free agent) - THEN Rashard will be our PF once again. Let's hope this doesn't happen.

  3. Yes, it is ridiculous indeed. The NBA accounts for more than half of the players listed: NBA - 26 MLB - 10 NFL - 7 Golf - 3 Racing - 3 Boxing - 1

    Official Draft Thread

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2008/columns/story?c...age=MockDraft-080602 The latest ESPN Mock Draft (June 2nd) has the Magic taking SF Bill Walker from Kansas State. Per Chad Ford's ESPN Mock Draft 3.0: quote: The skinny: The Magic need another swingman, preferably one who can shoot the ball. Shooting isn't Walker's forte, but his athleticism and scoring instincts would give the Magic another big weapon. A year and a half ago, teams were talking about him as a top-5 pick, but an ACL injury stopped that talk. However, I saw him in Chicago recently and his weight is finally down and his explosiveness is back. Other players associated with interest from the Magic went like this: Brandon Rush #15 pick, Phoenix Marreese Speights #16 pick, Philly Chris Douglas-Roberts #27 pick, New Orleans
  6. Am I correct in assuming that if the Magic target Dorsey, it will be with the 2nd round pick if something can be worked out with Portland or Seattle? If nothing can be worked out for a 2nd rounder, will the Magic scratch Dorsey and be looking at the best player available for their #22 pick regardless of position and need? (as Otis Smith hinted at earlier)

Charles Barkley at it again!!! What a B***h!!

Barkley gets paid to run his mouth and talk crap about any NBA team that has lost a game or two. He can be funny at times, and his words don't affect my thoughts one bit going into game 5. Shouldn't our entire team go into this game guaranteeing a victory? Does everyone besides Jameer expect to lose? This guarantee stuff gets blown so out of proportion in the media it's hilarious. In addition - Barkley is probably extra bitter around Playoff time since he never had the privelege of hoisting the NBA trophy!
  8. Great, just great stuff. Is Rasheed Wallace a crybaby? Find Out: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/basketball/magic/ It would be so great if they could play that sound byte at Amway anytime Rasheed does his trademark whining thing with the refs. I wonder if they're allowed to? Get under his skin even more!!

  10. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/basketball/magic/...40808,0,349733.story After contemplating for weeks a possible late-season return to provide some much-needed help in the front court, Battie left the RDV Sportsplex Tuesday knowing his hopes of playing this season had just died. General manager Otis Smith ended the speculation Tuesday after practice, shortly after Battie had left through a back door of the locker room without commenting. Center Dwight Howard, who is leading the league in rebounding, left practice early after getting hit in the mouth by Marcin Gortat during practice. The cut on the inside of his mouth required six stitches. He is expected to be ready to play in Wednesday's game against Chicago.

Orlando Magic's Hedo Turkoglu diagnosed with sprained wrist Orlando Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu was diagnosed Wednesday with a sprained right wrist and is listed as day-to-day, much to the relief of the playoff-bound team. Turkoglu underwent an MRI Wednesday that revealed no broken bones or torn tendons. Point guard Jameer Nelson also is listed as day-to-day after leaving Tuesday night's game against San Antonio in the first quarter after being struck in the jaw by teammate Dwight Howard. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/orl-bk-turkhurt032608,0,7283616.story

Ok - down by 1 at half . . . they can overcome this. I hope. However, if the Magic drop this one, every media outlet has the right to overlook the Magic in any kind of Playoff race talk. I would too.

Ummmm . . . are the Magic actually losing right now? You gotta be kidding me! I want to be in the locker room for the Stan Van Rant at halftime!
  19. quote: Little-used but still popular second-year guard J.J. Redick is expected to see significant playing time Tuesday night against the Toronto Raptors because of injuries to other Magic guards. Starting point guard Jameer Nelson will be back in the lineup after missing Saturday's game against the Knicks because of the flu. Guard Keyon Dooling will not play and guard Keith Bogans is doubtful, after both sat out Tuesday morning's practice at the RDV Sportplex. Bogans sustained a strained stomach muscle in Monday's practice. Dooling re-injured his foot in last week's game against Philadelphia and didn't play Saturday against the Knicks. The injuries will prompt Coach Stan Van to alter his guard rotation. Both Nelson and Arroyo will play Tuesday night at point guard, while Redick will become the backup at shooting guard behind Maurice Evans. 21. quote: I don't know for sure if Magic guard Keyon Dooling is on the Magic's showroom floor, with the club open to having somebody take him off the lot. He has an expiring contract --- and a small one at that ($3.5 million or so). The Magic have been looking for a big man ever since they lost Tony Battie, and have some expiring contracts, including Dooling's, to dangle as bait. It would be a mistake to deal Dooling, if he's on the table. He has been the Magic's best bench player, and the only point guard who has the size and decent defensive saavy to defend his league counterparts. Key is also a terrific guy in the clubhouse. Now, here's the only disclaimer: If the Magic must include Dooling in a deal to snag, say, Miami power forward Udonis Haslem, then do it. I am in agreement, I do not want to see Dooling go, with Haslem as the only exception - and that won't happen. I'm rooting for getting Chris Wilcox for some expirings among the likes of Garriy, Arroyo, Evans and Augustine. Music to my ears.

  23. Disclaimer - I do not care that JJ Redick is weak defensively. At our SG spot the last two games: vs. DENVER Bogans 22 mins, 2pts, 2reb, 1-7 FG, 0-4 3-PT Evans 18 mins, 2pts, 3reb, 1-8 FG, 0-1 3-PT vs. CLEVELAND Bogans 21 mins, 7pts, 5reb, 2-6 FG, 1-4 3pt Evans 27 mins, 10pts, 8reb, 4-12 FG, 1-5 3pt TOTALS 88 minutes played, 21pts, 18reb, 24% FG, 14% 3pt Look at the FG% and 3pt% - Anyone else think JJ deserves some playing time based on these numbers alone? I'm not asking for 25 mins, I'm asking for 15-20 mins on the floor. Despite JJ's shortcomings on defense, it should be noted that Larry FREAKING Hughes dropped 40 on the Magic - Bogans and Evans were two of the defenders guarding him that night. It's time to give the kid a shot - or trade him.

Everything else about your post was great, but I have to point out something here. Larry Hughes played PG for the Cavs the other night, and was therefore guarded by Nelson and Arroyo. Our two SGs that you mentioned spent much of their time on LeBron. They both did an excellent job on him, as much as you can with one of the best scorers in the game. I apologize, I didn't even see the game thanks to Bright House. However, Nick Anderson was on 1080AM yesterday and noted how Van Gundy should've called out the SG's (Bogans & Evans) as well as Dwight after the game because Larry Hughes had such a huge night. I guess Nick was just mistaken.
