    NY/ORL draft night trade?

He's 197 lbs! yeah that is another big issue...but I know he can thicken up a bit...I still like him as a PF... if he can get to about 21o-215, he's legit... can you imagine a PF like this alongside Dwight? 210-215!!! hedo is already 6-10 220! why would we trade for a potentially good player that has no ability to guard power forwards? Tony Battie is 240 we need someone with around that much wieght.

Tinsley could be the PG that we need, big at 6-3, and handles the ball well, and a good passer. terrible shooting % + more turnovers than jameer. also, he's injury prone. He's played 7 seasons only playing close to a full season 3 times (80, 73, and 72 games) the other 4 seasons (52, 40, 42, 39)

If he is still there at 22 do you take him or Speights? I'm going to look up Robin online and see how she can play, but we tried one other woman - Fran and she didn't show up. Lets go with a guy in this years draft. I'm a very visual person and I just can't see the name Marresse Speights ever being a star. Dudes name isn't even spelled right. Somewhat off topic. I did some volunteer work with a charter school in Memphis a while back. They had a student named Lemonjello (la-mon-ja-lo). I couldn't even bring myself to call a kid Lemon Jello, thank god that wasn't the pronunciation. They had these two poor little girls named Clamidia & Marijuana (u can call me mary). I just thought to myself, I'll see you on the pole in about 4 years! dude! i had a substitute teacher in high school that was telling us about Lemonjello. Worst part is, his brother is named orangello (orange jello) I also volunteered for the local elementary school to get volunteering hours for a scholarship, i had to shread duplicate report cards and ran into a kid named S#ithead pronounced shi-thee-add

    Baron Davis to Detroit?

quote: Originally posted by You're Fat, Pat!:I'm watching the Draft Special right now, and it said on the bottom line that according to a certain newspaper (I don't remember which one), that 1) Davis will NOT opt out of his contract 2) The Pistons are looking to acquire Davis for Rasheed AND Billups Is it just me, or does that make no sense whatsoever for both teams?? GSW is such an up and down team, and their roster has been made that way...adding two players who play a great half court game wouldn't make much sense unless they're gonna do a complete overhaul and DET would give up half of their starting lineup that has brought them to 6 straight ECFs, and leave a gaping hole at the Center position, unless they're expecting Maxiell to become a starter next year...or even bring ole' Ratliff back from the dead. but also for Detroit, BD is BD...he is one of the most explosive scorers in the game...a lineup of BD, RIP, Prince, Maxiell, McDyess (or another big) is pretty sweet if you ask me. I was just going to post this. I dont see how detroit would do this and feel good about it.

Granted Lewis/Turk/Howard aren't Garnett/Allen/Pierce, but you don't need a franchise PG to win it all. Okay let me clearify my answer more you need a guy who can bring up the ball and can have the offense run though him not necessarly a pg look at kobe and pierce the magic don't have a pg or sg that can do that. White Chocolate is a franchise point guard? Fisher? Sam Cassell? BJ Armstrong?!? fisher had kobe who really ran the point the same with wade and jordan, those guys were really the pgs. doesn't turk usually handle the ball? Thats wat you've been screaming in the trade turk threads. I'm pretty sure you're just anti nelson
  10. quote: Originally posted by Natmayo: quote: Originally posted by Caco:I don't follow college basketball at all, so I will say this taking into account the comments read here. According to many, Speights could be great or a bust. My question is: how bad could he be? Kwame Brown bad? Or worse? Because if the worst scenario is a Kwame Brown, then I think the Magic should draft Speights. If it doesn't work out good, then at least you would have a big man that you can use in your rotation. On the other side, if it turn out to be a star, then you have a championship contender team for a decade. Because honestly, I don't think we are that close of winning it all. I just don't see that a little adjustment here and there are enough to win the championship. I really couldnt disagree more. We made the second round after beating a good Toronto team fairly easily. We had our problems with the Pistons but that series really could have gone either way. And I would have liked our chances against the Celtics, so I dont believe were that far away. I wouldnt have any problem with Speights if none of the reports came out questioning his heart or desire. We need someone that wants to play every game and every minute. Not someone that doesnt subscribe to the team mentality and doesnt want to get better, and from all ive heard, thats not Speights. The last thing we need is another draft pick in a suit for the season. Pick a good 2 guard and a servicable big and were in there. But whatever the position, draft a kid who wants to succeed and wants to contribute. If only we could put JJ's work ethic into a more athletic body.
  11. quote: Originally posted by Marc Acres 3:16:He is dead on about Speights. Knappy mentioned in another thread that going for high risk, high reward is not a bad thing. Usually I would agree but we need players to fill in the holes, we don't have the luxury of gambling on someone like this. Think about it, if we get nothing out of this draft then we go through another year with a big weakness, whether it is the 2 or the 4 it's still a problem. If you pick up a guy that is solid then you know you have a useable piece rather than just another wasted year. Emory isn't that far off saying that Speights has been compared to a ton of different players, he could be a lot of different things. The problem is there is no middle ground, the issue with him is motivation and when that is the problem either the guy will be productive (and with Speights skill set he would be very productive) or he will be out of the league. I would feel more comfortable with the number of other bigs that are being called solid or that they fit a role rather than going the high risk route and hoping that you may get an all-star. Right, we dont need a home run, we just need to get on base.

How often does that turn out for the best? if he sucks, how bad does he suck? like Josh Boone 'at least belongs on a basketball court but will never be a serious threat on the court and should remain a backup' or like Luke Schenscher suck as in 'how did georgia tech get so far in the ncaa tourney with this guy in the lineup let alone be drafted in the nba'?
  15. this is sort of obscene how we never get involved in the good side of something for nothing trades. On the other hand it looks like portland is assembling assets to move up in the draft to get that one big piece. It doesnt seem like they are going to just sit at 13 and since all we've been hearing is that portland wants to dump picks because they are happy with their youth it doesnt make sense to keep the 27th and the 13th not to mention the 33rd 36th and 55th.

  17. if they do a sign and trade for 12.5-13.5 million/year then turk cook and jj would work as far as salary #s are concerned.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS- Dwight vs. Franny

he might not make the final roster though. that list has 24 players.
  19. i'd be really happy if we got Rush, Batum or Lee Rush is probably the most NBA ready out of all of them but Batum and Lee have the higher ceiling.

    International Players Losing Out?

Are my facts incorrect? There isn't an age limit, theres a mandatory 1 year removed from highschool rule. Its very similar to the rule in the NFL. I remember last year or the year before the Texans drafted an 18 year old DT.

Agreed. I don't think there is anyone in the league that can keep pace with Dwight running the floor, and has the size to bother him defensively ont he fast break. I wish Stan would tell the guys 'take whatever shots you want, you won't get yanked for shot selection... but you WILL get yanked for not pushing the ball and running the other team into the ground'. Its true that Dwight is fast for a big man but at the same time he is at a serious disadvantage in the fast break game just because he has to run the entire court while our guards only need to run 3/4 of the court. When he plays D He is closest to the other teams basket while our guards are on the 3 point line. If we did use a phoenix style fast break where you can look for a 3 on the wings before hitting the big man in stride it would work beautifully.
  24. quote: Originally posted by echo4papa:I left Batum out... but as a SF, he would be at the bottom of the list. It went PFs, Guard, C (possibly as a PF), SF Based on team needs alone. Tough to put Batum high on that list being loaded as teh SF position, unless you think enough of him to bump him up to the next tier, in which case he gets picked by default. Batum is essentially the Euro Rudy Gay. He can play the 2

Felton got a 10.50 in lane agility and 3.06 in 3/4 court speed. For comparison, Paul got a 11.09/3.22 Deron Williams got a 10.83/3.25 Duhon 10.45/3.14 T.J. Ford 11.45/3.2 I'm acutally shocked by that, Felton looks like a blur out there and he had slower times than Jameer. Why doesn't Jameer push the ball more?! Our #1 option is a center so we try to involve him more by slowing the pace just a tad
