    Official Playoff Predictions

    magic win it all.
  2. sixers fans dont even think they can win this one. I went on a few boards and the optimistic ones are hoping to push it to 6 games.

Those are more realistic. seven game series usually have the best team win. If elton brand was available i could see how they could justify the upset. Maybe philly would be better than the seed they got. Generally speaking, when a team gets swept during the regular season and has no excuse why this series is going to be any different, that team generally wont upset. My pick would be chicago over boston if they dont have kg, dallas over SA because they split the reg season series, and NO over denver because they split the season series. If I'm not mistaken when they had Brand healthy Philly was below 500 and outside of the playoff picture. i know, brand made them worse. i'm just sayin that it's understandable logic that addind a 20/10 guy that you've been missing for several months might make a difference in the series. If a team hasn't beaten another all year and none of the conditions change how can you expect that team to beat the other 4 times just because they made the playoffs.

    Early start on karma

We still have one more game until the post season but i thought i'd post this now. We all need to contribute positive posts for the sake of our playoff run. Negative posts only anger the basketball gods. So anyone makes a post about Peaches sucking, JJ deserving no time, or hate on Turkey and we start going on 8 minute cold streaks then the blame is on you. Lets start the positive vibes now. Turk is a great playmaker Shard is going to shoot 60% from the 3point line JJ is going to contribute significantly off the bench Peaches will play under control Dwight will make a good % of his fts Skip will go on a good streak Lee wont hit the rookie wall AJ will take care of the ball Battie will hit that 12 footer Gortat can keep up this play The rest of the guys will step up if needed Stan will coach his best games This team will turn on the switch Otis Smith will continue to like this team This could be the year. We need support from every angle. We need to BELIEVE

  9. We're fine. Theres still a lot of time before the playoffs start. A lot can happen in 3 days. Most starters aren't playing tonight regardless
  10. quote: Originally posted by CaliMagicFan:Thank you SI. Calling out Dwight's focus on the cover of their magazine a week before the playoffs when the team has lacked focus? Freaking perfect. Is there somewhere I can send them a thank you card? I love it. More fuel for the us vs the world mentality. I hope a bunch of analysts pick against us in the opening round.
  11. quote: Originally posted by Magicalfan4ever:I think the Magic will need to set the defense tone early in Game 1 and not let it be a winable game for Chicago. We can't afford this come from behind mentality like we've seen the past month or so. If they get Game 1 they could rally to maybe even get this series who knows. Like they said, they have quite a home court advantage. NBA best Dallas lost to Golden State a few seasons ago guys because of a lack of focus! I still like the Magic in the series but am a little bit of skeptic of this playoff ignite thing. If we play with urgency I think we could take them in 5 games. If the intensity is lost maybe even a Game 7 with a Ben Gordon shot away from one of the most embarassing moments in franchise history! We need to attack early and often. Go for the knockout punch in game one. If we beat them bad enough and play physically most teams will fold.

Gut feeling...how far can we go in the post-season?

quote: Originally posted by SmackDaddy: quote: Originally posted by Jareth Cutestory:I think Turk sat due to his ankle. I think Shard sat because of his nagging injuries. (I wouldn't call 18/5 really slacking since that is about his season average) I think Dwight sat because..well..you don't want your star player getting hurt in a meaningless game. So you have to play somebody, and SVG knew he wasn't breaking any team records, so why not sit them? Last night BOS & LA had nothing left to play for and their starters were on the floor. Last night the Celtics, especially Paul Pierce, played with intensity to overcome a 4th quarter deficit to win a meaningless game. That's the kind of competitive spirit I would love to see from our squad. Personally, I think it's necessary to play all 82 games to keep sharp going into the post-season. Limiting minutes still allows for rest. Also of note...KG apparently isn't ready to come back yet. That's good news. The bad news...Thaddeus Young is back (if we are matched up with PHI). I fear no man named thaddeus. I think we're going to win 16 games in the post season.

Sam Smith on lebron james' lack of fouls

That's the best you could do? Go ahead and dig up some articles talking about LeBron getting special treatment on the defensive end. Show me. Please. I already addressed this above. The topic is about preferential treatment with regards to a star player. Discussing Kobe and Wade in this same light is related, pal. Quick math lesson. His minutes went down about 7.5% while his fouls decreased about 23%. Do you see the lack of correlation between the numbers? Probably not, but maybe you should pretend you do and concede the point. You were wrong, it happens. Who said i was specifically talking about the defensive end. You're pathetic attempt at putting words in my mouth saddens me. He gets special treatment...always has, always will. Everyone of em pisses me off. When you're blessed with the skill set and talent of Lebron, don't be a disgrace to the game that's given you so much in return by acting like a little sissy. I guess Varejao was bound to rub up off on Lebron eventually. I remember watching that Suns Cavs game live and was a little ticked that Lebron got away with full on grabbing his wrist, and than it becomes "block of the night". Ridiculous. (I acknowledge the fact that we have an offensive flopper on our own team. He had a name. His name was Hedo Turkoglu. But he's no where near as accountable because he's no where near as talented) also, Turk is foreign so he gets a pass i guess. If Lebron James was Leonardo Juavez then we wouldn't be having this conversation..... right?

No offense, and nothing on defense that Redick or Lee can't bring. Would anyone else agree with me? He has no energy, and you can see that he has an attitude of "I'm having a bad year" every time he misses a shot or commits a turnover. That's not the right attitude to have going into the post-season. I'm sick and tired of hearing about JJ's injuries and lack of pt as an excuse. This guy has been abysmal over the past two years. He seriously can't make a shot, 0/7 from the field from the field 0/5 from three on april 10th. He brings nothing to the team. No offense, and nothing on defense that Pietrus or lee can't bring. Would anyone else agree with me? He shows a lot of energy but you can see that he has an attitude of "I'm having a bad career" everytime he misses a shot or commits a turnover. see what i did there. jj has seven 0 for games this year when playing at least 10 minutes. Some food for thought.

There is actual talk about trading Paul to Dallas with some other contracts to help them get out of the lux tax. The Hornets are a prime example of a team that might have to make a desperate, cost-cutting deal due to the economy. They play in a small market still recovering from Hurricane Katrina and are in luxury-tax territory. That awful combination led them to trade Tyson Chandler for spare parts in the middle of a playoff race, although Oklahoma City's doctors ultimately vetoed that deal. http://mavsblog.dallasnews.com...be-plan-a-for-m.html That's a blog written by a Dallas reporter. There's no validity to it at all as actual "news". If Bianchi wrote the same thing only subbing in "Orlando" for "Dallas", you'd have roughly the same quality "news" with the same validity. I have news for you it's not the only site mentioning this, all because the Hornets are in dire straights when it comes down to their finances. They simply can't afford to pay the lux tax. I'm guessing any other site you found would be basing their "article" off this one. The whole thing is crap anyway, and you continue to not understand how the salary cap actually works. For NO, trading their 3 best players for expirings won't keep them under the luxury tax. Even if they get the exact lowest amount of incoming salary in the trade(80% of what they send off), could find some conceivable way to make the trade work so that they could deal with Paul's BYC contract(extremely unlikely), they'll still have 68.5m in salary for 7 players, plus whatever expirings they bring in. A first round draft pick puts them in the tax. So unless you think they'd get 8 players in those expirings(extremely unlikely) and they'll trade their draft pick away(likely), this trade idea is complete hocum. In order for a trade to actually help the Hornets stay under the Tax, they'd have to be able to straight dump salary, which they can only do with teams under the CAP to begin with, which Dallas isn't. So no, this isn't news. It doesn't even qualify as "not retarded". Not to mention you dont trade the one player that is marketable on the team. Not too many people buy tyson chandler jerseys but paul is a best seller.
