Dwight, NEWSFLASH!!!!!! The better team does not make mental mistakes! The better team does not let games "slip from them"!!!! The better team executes their game plan!!!!
It is time that the players and the fans realize that Detroit is the better team. If the players do not want a repeat next year, they'd better become better players and better teammates! Stop the talk and start backing it up!
I believe the Magic will win a ring or two, but they did not earn it this year. Potential does not win games now.
They obviously mean they feel that they beat themselves and SHOULD have won. They're trying to say physically (and talent wise) they think they're better but made mental mistakes. Not the best choice of words I agree but I like that they have a little chip on their shoulders.
I hope that the little chip on their shoulders motivates them to improve their game. I hope it does not feed them excuses that will carry over to next year. This team is going to have to stay hungry this off season and work hard.

For the PF position, Magic needs a big man who can also shoot the ball well. If Hedo will go to an another team, Magic needs to find a good playmaker.
Here is my fantasy trades:
Lamar Odom for Hedo
Brad Miller, Salmons for Hedo
Don't wake up. You are dreaming some good stuff! Gm's all want to give their best stuff to Orlando for a guy who has had only 1 good year and not an allstar.

One cannot be the best until they beat the best!
Celtics, Lakers, Pistons, Chicago, Houston, Lakers, Pistons/Spurs. Those were the teams in order who were the best for the last 3 decades. Sure Miami got in one on a fluke.
Magic will have to break through like each team on the list had to beat the one before it. Celtics held off the Lakers and the Pistons, the Lakers held off the Pistons one year, the Pistons held off the Bulls for a couple of years, Houston broke through, then Lakers won a couple, then the Pistons beat them, and then the Spurs beat them, and on and on it goes.

How do you figure? Stuckey has at least three more seasons of being a back-up to Billups.
Meanwhile, Nelson will be starting alongside the best big man in the NBA. I'd say that Nelson's future looks just a bit better.
Any pg could start on this team. JN is nothing but a backup pg starting for a team without a starting pg. However, Stuckey will likely become an all-star and possibly a Hall of Famer. He's this good as a rookie! Name another pg. in the past that was playing this well as a rookie.
His backing up of C. Billups is nothing. He gets to learn from one of the best in the NBA. It takes a few years for a pg. to develop his potential.
I'm not hating on the Magic, just JN. I've never liked him as a starter. He should not be being paid what he is nor should he be starting except the Magic do not have anyone better.
My point earlier was that a rookie outplayed JN in the 2nd round of the playoffs. If that does not impress you, then you have low expectations from JN and the Magic. I expect better. He's a vetern making way more $$$.

Stuckey Nelson
15 pts 14 pts
6 asts 4 asts
3 rbs 2 rbs
0 to's 2 to's

won game guaranteed win
I think Stuckey has the better future. Add that Stuck's a rookie and 6' 5". I'd rather have Stuckey than JN.

I disagree. Rashard got oppertunities in the 4th and would pass them up. He needs to take them. He needs to be the man. He needs to demand the ball in crunch time.
-
Sorry, but the refs. didn't do it. Bad calls always go to both teams. The Magic just didn't get the job done.
-
Thanks for your service. It means a lot.

I think both teams could complain about calls in this series. Remember, we have the advantage of replay, refs. don't. I cut them some slack.
Concerning the Hedo/Man charge/block, I'd bet that it was going to be called a charge, but the ref didn't want to decide the game. When I watched it in real-time I thought it was a charge. Replays may prove that Max had his foot on the line, but can you expect the ref. to see it.
Rip's grab on Dooling isn't right, but there are 10 guys on the floor and only 3 refs. Rip did not have the ball at the time. I'm sure that it was just missed.
We cannot expect the refs to be perfect. I've seen calls or non-calls go against both teams. Playing through those bad calls is part of playing the game. Rasheed, Van Gundy, and everyone else needs to realize this.

Hate to dampen your mood, but if the Magic win tonight, then game 5 is the pivotal game. The team that wins game 5 in a tied series usually wins. However, a loss tonight would kill the Magic.

He leads the league in Technicals and that should result in at least 1 game suspension. I know that Kobe had 1 flagrant foul every game for 2 games in a row and if he got one in the 3rd game he wouldve gotten a 1 game suspension. It should be the same with technical fouls but make it if u get a technical foul 5 games in a row you get a suspension
Dwight did a lot of complaining tonight. Everyone does it. Sheed just does it so everyone can tell he's mad.

Noone should doubt DH12. That man is a beast. I have utmost respect for the Pistons and the Magic. Dwight is awesome with still untapped potential!
On the otherside, Magic fans should not forget how the "wimpy" Tay shut down McGrady, Reggie Miller, Kobe Bryant, etc.
We all need a little more respect for eachother around here!
-
I don't know. This guy always plays better upset. Maybe those who go to the game should not try to get under his skin too much. Have you watched how much better Sheed plays after he gets a tech?
-
Here is the Piston point of view from their website's blogger. What do you think?
Honestly, I think there were only two options.
1. Replay it. Probably what they should have done.
2. Count it. Which they did.
They could not discount it like the TNT guys would have us believe because the time on the clock affected Stuckey's decission to pass the ball back to Billups.

New information from the Detroit Free Press
The timekeeper was not at fault, a ref. was for blowing into his whistle.
This whole thing is unfair to both teams. Magic fans get a loss they do not believe they should have received with no way of knowing for sure, and the Pistons get a win they believe they earned while the media and fans put a question mark on their effort.
I wish the Stern would speak to this. I am certian that nothing is going to change, but I'd like the NBA to confirm the win/loss.

Both good articles!

Um... what you said about JN was said about him last year! This is not a starting pg!

Well, the Magic has lost Darko. We may always wonder what might have been. My loyalty is to Darko first. I followed him from Detroit to Orlando, and I'll follow him to Memphis. I just want to say, I've really enjoyed being a part of these boards. There are a lot of great fans here, and I believe in Dwight. I don't like the Lewis deal, but that wasn't my call.
Anyways, instead of having a bunch of good-bye threads, I thought we could have just one. I'll be around a few more days, I may even pop in during the season, but I must move on. I'm saddened by that, I had come to really love this team and these great fans!
With sorrow and respect,

He would suck then too, but we got Darko?? pretty much the team that got swept, THE MAGIC CAN NOT MAKE THE RIGHT MOVE IN YOUR OPINIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When Lewis is killing cap space and is not playing worthy of a max deal, you'll probably be the first to complain....

Quality? I beg to differ. He has energy but almost no skill. We have Ariza, we don't need this flopper!

Dirtdan,
Darko is not a legend. He's a solid role player with potential to be a beast. With his limited minutes he was 15th in the league in blocked shots! Defense is very valuable. Scoring puts up points, but if you can't stop the other team, you still lose.
Secondly, Darko is a great passer. He may be a top 5 talent in that department among big men. Darko set Dwight up many a time.
Thirdly, Darko can score. He doesn't score very much, but he rarely has the ball in his sweet spots unless he's playing with Arroyo. There were no plays run for him last year. I really think Darko could show us a lot more next year.
Finally, Darko isn't asking for a max contract. He only wants paid a compairable wage to that which other big men of his skill get.

Jury's still out on Stuckey. Wait 2 more years and see what he becomes before passing judgment. I think this kid has what it takes to be a HOFer.
