  1. Sure we've either been out of the runnings or missed on a lot of the top available free agents out there this summer, but I don't see why S&T Tobias wouldn't be another viable option for us to get the PF help we need. Even if we do end up signing him to a close to max deal, as Cat has said it's still a favorable contract in the grand scheme of things.

So while yes it would be an asset for us later on, no reason why it couldn't be a workable asset for us now. Any other front office team that has the brains to see his contract as an asset (minus the Kings of course) I think would at least entertain the idea of a trade if they happened to be intrigued by Tobias. I truly wonder if some of this train of thought could be why we haven't heard of Tobias signing an offer sheet (Henny, you brewin a lil sumthin sumthin?)

Let's just say we could go the route of S&T Tobias. Who do you think would be plausible pieces we could get back that would benefit us?

  2. Trying to think outside the box here. May or may not be possible, but in theory if I were Dwight I would push for the trade to Houston (hoping what we'd be able to get rid of most/all of our bad contacts in exchange for these great prospects). Then next offseason sign long term with the Magic. It would come off real dirty in the media I know, but it would be a great squad to grow with together a la OKC. As time goes on, keep only prospects that actually pan out. I know...I'm crazy.

  3. I would go one step further with this. In addition to the types of players that you mentioned Thibidou has that Stan does not he also has Rose who is a great competitor and high energy player. He has Noah who is a tremendous competitor/energy player. He has Deng who is an energy guy. He has Taj who is an energy guy. NA4P I know where you are coming from, I understand that if they have tuned the guy out then it's not really something you can fix, my beef is with the a-hole that served Stan up a team full of low energy, low competitive fire guys and said turn this into a team full of mad-men that would kill for a win. OF COURSE THEY TUNED HIM OUT!! Nothing he could have said would have motivated Hedo. Did Pop motivate him? Did Adelman? Aren't our complaints the same as the ones we hear from his Turkish National team? Nothing he could have said would make Duhon push the ball or give an F if we won or not so after a while they just stopped listening, or pretending to listen or whatever it is that they do.

BBD is the first player I've seen brought in since Courtney left that does play hard when he's out there. Why did Dwight want Stephen Jackson here? The guy is a fighter (literially and figuaritively). If these guys tuned him out and he fell into harping on the bad it's because that's what most of these guy are, BAD. They want to piss and moan about how they don't want to hear that they are lazy? Get the F out of the league! You are paid to play a game a-hole! Your coach shouldn't have to beg you to play with effort when you are on the floor.

It sucks but Stan probably will take the fall for this. It takes a heck of a lot longer to replace a star player than it does to replace a coach and no matter how good your coach is you aren't winning without the best players. That is what this all boils down to and that is while he probably will be the one to go. I sincerely hope that Otis is the next pink slip if he isn't the first. I hope he is then banned from anything to do with basketball at any level including Nerf hoops.

I'm with you...this is basically what I said in my rebuttal to TrueMagic. There are a whole sleu of reasons why the players/coaches are in the positions they're in now. Otis is the ultimately blamee, I was always amazed at how SVG got so much out of several guys who were the exact oppositie of Stan's specialty in coaching (defense). How he hasn't gotten so mad that he executes a backflip in anger is beyond me. That being said, an abrasive style will eventually wear thin on players making millions and millions of dollars. This isn't an issue about what's right and what's wrong, it's the real world we live in and we can't change it. However, other coaches have found a way to manage it. At the end of the day we all have to give a little to get a little right?..some more than others based on the situation. Shenanigans I say, shenanigans.

  4. *This is in response to the above post by Nick Anderson.*

Nick, I am agreeing with you that other coaches yell. I was watching one of the Bull's games, and their coach. . .Tibido(sp). . . was pacing back and forth along the sideline, yelling at his players. I just thought to myself (wow). It was as fierce as what Stan use to do.

You said the differences is these other coaches bring out the positive things. Well, lets look at the reason he has an upper hand over Stan.

#1 - The Bulls have a much better bench than the Magic.

#2 - The Bulls have an MVP starting point guard.

#3 - The Bulls have the best record in the NBA

#4 - The Bulls are a more athletic team.

#5 - The Bulls' backup center situation is better than the Magic

#6 - The Bulls have a couple of very good backup point guards. Lucas could be a starter on any team.

Btw, Just like the Bulls, the Magic, too, were Eastern Conf. champs and went to the finals in 2008-2009 WHEN STAN WAS YELLING.

Right, I never said there aren't other factors that have contributed to the players tuning out Stan. Obviously the way Otis's roster moves have played out played an intergral role in where we are today. I was fortunate to get some information from someone close to the situation so I'm just relaying what I heard. Granted, I don't participate in the practices/huddles, etc to be able to personally confirm but it does jive with what YBR has stated so I'm going to say that is a majority of the player's feeling about Stan.

So for various different reasons we're in this situation we're in, regardless of how it happened it needs to be fixed asap. If I were Otis I hope I would know this is going on and have a coach only meeting to tell him he needs to provide positive feedback to the players in addition to what they need to improve on, and a separate meeting with players to tell them they need to quit ctheir b*ching and start coming back home to Stan knowing that he plans to work on getting better in that regard. Basically all they need is a family meeting to get things clear and I think the current situation that I'm convinced exists could be repaired. Do I have faith Otis would do something like this to repair the situation?...HAAAAAAAAA NOT A CHANCE! :shard: Like others have said, if Stan goes Otis needs to go too. I have a feeling Otis will fire stan before he gets removed from his post. :(

BTW, I've heard B. Shaw has been mentioned as a possible coaching option. I do and I don't like that at the same time, mostly don't like it. Would much rather a much more experienced coach, yet he's one of the closest options to getting Phil's basketball mastery in Orlando. As we all know Phil would never be the head coach here.

  5. I think you all are losing the message from YBR....which is Stan has lost his players. This isn't about Stan having the ability to be a good/bad coach, but simply put his players are tuning him out. AND...he either is oblivious to this or doesn't know how to get their full attention back. As good of a coach as you might be, this is one of the most critical things a coach needs to be able to do, even if that's adapting to what's necessary in order for them to tune you in again. Adjust. From my sources all Stan does is yell at the players (which many other coaches do)...but the differences is they also bring out the positive things. From what I hear there is never any positive characteristics Stan relays to the players, i.e. the good things the team is doing, only the bad. If this is true then keeping Stan WON'T work.

  6. Who says we have to trade him to the nets? At this point i could care less where he wants to be traded to for all the crap he's put us through and trade him to the place that gives us the most assets. If a team is willing to rent them, if I'm the magic FO then i will listen to their offers. Dwight apparently knows where he wants to be next year, it's not here, let him find his own way there.

  7. Like i said earlier, i was in the suite tonight next to dwights. All of dwights family and friends (including his dad and mom) were in there and the demeanor in their suite was not one that looked like they want him out of orlando. His best friend was disappointed that we didnt get ellis and was discussing how retarded that trade was with his friend for a while. I think his best friend would especially be the closest reflection to dwights thoughts that we can get. After seeing that, I don't buy that dwight is just posturing just to have nj keep their assets. Recently i asked nick anderson if he thought dwight was staying or leaving and he said "that boy has no clue what he wants". I bet dwight is truly conflicted and will sleep 0 tonight.

  8. The sad reality is that to improve this team, we will need to trade the best big man in the game. You can blame Otis for that.

If Dwight is traded or even if he leaves via FA, the front office needs to be cleaned out. To make that next step, we need to start again.

I don't believe that in order to improve this team we need to trade Dwight. I think in order to keep Dwight based on the given situation we need to make a splashy move, but there's plenty of lateral moves could be made such that if Dwight was willing to at least opt in for the last year of his contract, I think we could see a lot of improvement in the team come end of that contract. I don't think the issue is no one wants our players, I think no one wants our players in exchange for a superstar. Big difference.

  9. I think we would have a better chance of getting guys who can help but are a little more under the radar. Personally I would love to pull one the PG's from the Pistons primarily Rodney Stuckey or if not Wil Bynum. They may not fit our current system perfectly, but I really think a stronger PG amongst other good qualities would really be a big help. I think JJ alone could net one of them (and is probably too much for Will Bynum). I'm just trying to think outside the box in case obvious players we would like aren't attainable, I pray Otis is doing the same.

On the flipside, I know these aren't "BIG SPLASH" moves that would keep Dwight here, but I think could still help this team.

  10. Why don't we hear that Otis is going after these guys coming back from overseas? Pryzbilla would be a great backup C behind Dwight. I know Otis plays everything close to the chest, but I think we would have heard by now the magic were targetting him along with the other teams. Not that Joel or JR would probably pick orlando over some of the other more "attractive" destinations at the moment.

  11. Trade Machine Link

I don't think they would take duhon being that Jameer is already being included, but I could see this making somewhat of sense for both sides. We get stronger down low with millsap, they get a cheaper PF (for now) in ryan who can provide them that 3 point production. Losing that 3 point production hurts but I'm good with losing Ryan if we get some good value back. I really think Devin would do much better here than what Jameer is giving us. Devin's not a great defender by any means but he's quick so I see that being an improvement on offense and defense. Throwing JJ into this instead of Duhon would probably be too much.
