Beyond James' role, the Lakers realize they have a young team and see adding Rondo as a key piece to provide leadership besides James. The Lakers noticed an immediate impact when Isaiah Thomas joined the team last season (ironically, after a trade from James' Cavs). His veteran presence had an effect on all their young players and reinforced what the coaches had been preaching. Coach Luke Walton would often compliment Thomas for mentoring the young players. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/24003187/lakers-signings-part-magic-plan-nba

Oh, I'd take Birch as our main backup without a doubt. No hesitation. I was ready to happily role with him as our starter with Trae being #6. I guess since I don't envision Biz getting moved, I accept his position on the roster.
-
The player, yes. The contract, hell no. I actually don't mind Biz here as a backup. Ignoring the money, he's just fine for us. And with 2 years remaining, not horrible if we don't move him; nor would I give up an asset to unload his contract. At least he's serviceable; unlike: Mozgov, Noah, Deng, Parsons, Mahinmi

If Briscoe is 3rd PG, and we get IT, our PG rotation is tough as nails. I like it. 2 vets in IT and DJ, then a young pitbull in Briscoe. Can't wait to see him play in summer league.

Reading around, seems like the 3 teams in talks with Lakers to get Ball were/are Orl, Mil, PHX. That's why I think things have been super quiet with us.
-
It's all about shifting money and opening PT for Bamba and Birch. Trade Vuc for Lin helps both teams in balancing the rosters. They both expire next summer.

if we get Lin & IT, our PG situation is much improved over the last couple years.

I wonder how healthy he is at the moment? If still recovering, but back by camp; great. If out through camp...no bueno and wouldn't even waste time.

LET'S GOOOOOOOOO

yeah, never know what RFA may shake loose. Look what happened to Randall yesterday; and like you said, Simmons last year. Season doesn't start for a few months. we have time.
-
think it's Kawhi and the Spurts. GOTTA believe we're included in some type of trade scenario and just waiting for everything to be agreed to? If not with Spurs/LAL, maybe trying to negotiate with a RFA? IDK

All we can offer is MLE and Bos likely matches. If you want to talk S&T with them, Ainge will ask for Bamba and Isaac for Smart. in other words, IT is easier to get.

This video is from 2 weeks ago. Now it's being reported about Kyrie and Jimmy wanna team up. This guy is plugged in. Same guy also shared the Ball to Orl rumors:

hahahahaha

I think IT is backup option if we don't trade for a PG. Ideally you want to use assets already here to fill a hole at one position, while reducing the log jam in another position. Save that MLE for something else.

Good watch. Discusses the surgery he just had. Appears to be the less invasive option. If he's not healthy by camp, that'll set us back and I think not worth the signing. Let's see what this new and improved training staff can do.

for where we are, and where he is, it's a perfect match. short deal where he can lead us and prove his worth for one of the next 2 summers where EVERYONE has cap space. If he's healthy, it's a win/win. Orlando assistant GM, Pete D'Alessandro, got rid of IT when he was a FA in 2014. Pete, then Kings GM, didn't draft him but he's very familiar with IT. If these rumor come to fruition and IT ends up in Orlando, I wonder if they'll clear any leftover animosity? Also just found out IT & Ross played on the same UW bball team 2010-2011.

Isaiah only follows 2 other NBA teams: Suns & Lakers. Now us.
