The team is better when career backups and also-rans DJ Augustin and Shelvin Mack play ahead of Payton. He's also needs a new contract after 3 months. His value was ostensibly nothing. I wished we could've swindled Scott Perry but a decent 2nd round pick that'll be in the 30s is about as good as we could've done with a guy who isn't good.

The fully healthy team (aside from Ross) got pasted throughout December and January. The team has won lately due to energy guys like Simmons, Biyombo, Birch and Iwundu playing solid minutes. Once lazy Vucevic is back and him and Fournier enable each other's bad habits we'll be back in the toilet.

Why are you getting worked up over a deadline where there isn't really any pressure on Weltman to do anything? Team's already Bottom 5 and the guys we want to move have very little value. Remember, Vucevic and Payton help the tank.

Feeling like we wont do anything unless Scott Perry really wants Elfrid. And frankly, Vucevic helps the tank at this point. Need some of that flat-footed defense.

I suspect any team that even wants Payton can get him for really cheap in the summer so he has no value right now.

I think it would be more worthwhile to pursue Sexton with a 2nd lottery pick around 9-10 than Young around 5-7.

Ayton seems to have pulled himself ahead of the pack and is the consensus number 1 guy based on what basketball twitter is saying. I do think Trae will settle in between 5-7 once he does draft workouts and his size limitations become apparent.

I haven't look at his metrics lately but I don't think he's any better than Fournier and he's an RFA.

I'd rather take a risk with a Top 4 pick this year than hope Kemba won't get annoyed stat padding on a bad team next season. Moreover, I think if we take some of Charlotte's bad deals back we can still keep our pick. Anyone who takes Batum's deal should honestly have Kemba for free.

As peeps have said, Dwight was much more polished defensively. But Ayton is bigger (legit 7ft) and has far more offensive skill and versatility, he can play inside and out. Dwight was a power guy however, Ayton, despite his size, is more finesse oriented. Doesn't consistently use his athletic gifts to punish people on the inside and will settle at times. I think he can be better than Karl Towns but he's not as good as a prospect as Embiid.

Ayton is still my pick for number 1. He's got awareness/ball IQ problems but that combo of skill and size makes him an easy choice.

Young is the best freshman PG in forever. He has to be the first guard off the board simply due to that. He's trash on defense but that type of shot-making ability and overall production at 19 is something you have to bet on.

34 year old Gortat might be better than Vucevic/Biyombo
