Aminu's a good player but where's he gonna find minutes. Maybe Gordon's getting traded.
-
*sigh* Barrett, Reddish, Zion and Little are the guys scouts like. Unfortunately all of them are 6'8 wings, it's a light year for playmakers. Reddish is a point forward and Quentin Grimes is probably the best PG prospect--he reminds me of Jamal Murray. If the team is drafting in the second half of the lottery, Romeo Langford would be an interesting guy. Of course, knowing WeltHam we'll just take Bol Bol.

Why was Bamba selected instead of a guard like Gilgeous-Alexander with management knowing Vucevic could possibly stay long-term in a year? His value is now capped at whatever he can generate from 16 MPG playing alongside bench guards. Other teams can just low-ball us knowing he'll have to be moved eventually. Complete mismanagement of an asset.
-
Hmm, don't dislike the pick but was hoping he'd be able to play the 2, seems like Okeke's game and Gordon's overlap quite a bit.
-
Someone else take Bol Bol before us for god's sake.
-
I think Barrett will be better than Wiggins because he's selfish enough to give a damn but definitely not a guy worth giving up assets to draft.

Given how bereft we are of perimeter creators I don't see a pathway Brandon Clarke will be good on this team as it's currently constructed. Now if he goes to Atlanta where Trae Young can feed him all day, sure. This is why BPA doesn't exist in a vacuum (granted, I don't think Clarke is BPA at our spot--and at 16 there's no consensus anyway). System/structure makes a pretty big difference in rookies unlocking their potential--I doubt Clarke can do that when best talent on the team play the same position as him.

I want to like Langford but I see a lot of Evan Turner in him.

Re Charlotte, Clifford was hamstrung by how bad Rich Cho was as a GM.
-
Sixers are doing a great job at exploiting the Raptors terrible defensive rebounding and Siakam's lack of ball skills. Kawhi has to score 40 a game on isos for Toronto to have a chance.

This sounds like Jeff's preparing to do a "Aw shucks, we wanna bring you back but money's tight. Thanks for the memories!" move.

One guy the Magic could potentially flip Fournier for--Gary Harris. He's inked a long-term deal recently but hasn't quite performed to the degree he was expected to. Denver is going to be incredibly capped out soon when they'll have to pay Jamal Murray. I could see something like Fournier + a first along with either Mozgov or Augstin's expiring deal as feasible--would probably have to take back a bad deal though (Will Barton most likely).

Strong disagree. He's been arguably the best all-around player on the team (46% shooting and he's made 6 threes) while doing about a good a job as he can on Kawhi. Gordon's game really suffers if Vucevic isn't doing anything so for him to be kind of decent all things considered so far is amazing. -

Just learned Fournier has a 17 million dollar player option in 2021. Thanks Rob. -

Evan helping off Danny Green is the most agitated I've been watching a game in forever. -
NAW's got the smarts and skills but he's really slow and unathletic.

After seeing how much the length of Gordon and Isaac made Kawhi and Siakam have to work, we're 100% drafting Talen Horton-Tucker.
-
So we're officially 17th unless we advance to the 2nd round. Guys in that range: Tyler Herro, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Romeo Langford, Keldon Johnson, Talen Horton Tucker. THT is probably the most WeltHam pick but also might be the best in terms of asset development and how the team is currently constructed. 6'4, 240 lbs with a huge wingspan and not a great shooter but is the youngest guy in the draft (turns 19 in November) and is really good off-the-dribble. Won't be good for a couple of years so he can play behind Fournier, Iwundu, and Ross if he comes back.

2018-19 Official Season Discussion Thread

We've been on a 58 win pace the last 31 games but at the same time, there's little margin for error for us. Don't know what to expect in the playoffs but given the matchups on Toronto, it'll be bad if Vucevic doesn't dominate the inside. -

Dunno the exact numbers but it would require renouncing the rights on Vucevic and Ross, it wouldn't be a full max obviously. -
Thinking about how much I like Aubrey Dawkins game and then I go look up that he's turning 24 in May and still has another year of eligibility lol.
-
Reddish has a good NBA frame and could maybe be Rudy Gay if he learns how to play basketball. Also, Barrett has so much Wiggins in him. I would hate to be picking in the Top 5 in this draft. The guy who's selected 3rd may not be better than the guy who's selected 14.

If they had this same level of effort against the Cavs then that's a win on Sunday. Pisses me off how this team actually tries against good teams but thinks they don't have to against bad ones. -

Would be nice if Fournier can finally get his shooting stats back to what they were last season. -
I forgot that you get bumped out of the lottery if you make the playoffs regardless of record. So yeah, 15ish is more appropriate. I think only Kevin Porter is the only guy from the ones I listed above who might be in that range.
