it is outrageous, but not at all surprising. kenny had already picked us to lose this series anyway. game 1 obviously made him a bit more confident in his prediction. imo, we don't need dwight to score anywhere near 30 to beat this team. _not_ turning the ball over 7 times should be enough as it is.

Otis Smiths worst decision: Losing Cliff Ray
ivDT replied to God hates Magic fans's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
quote: Originally posted by God hates Magic fans:Dwight got substantially better every year under this guy, so what happens? ray was with us for exactly _one_ season. he was replaced when we re-hired brian hill, who brought in mark bryant to be his big man coach. ewing did not replace clifford ray. jussayin... anyway, i agree that we need to find someone else to help dwight with his offensive game. one thing i'll never understand, though, is why dwight doesn't take it upon himself more to improve his back-to-the-basket game during the offseason. i seem to remember reading that dwight, for a time, had hired clifford ray to work with him privately after brian hill had booted him from the coaching staff. but, since ray signed on with the celtics, i don't think that dwight has hired anyone to personally work with him on his game. -

Have we forgotten the Cavs are good?
ivDT replied to Ryan the Magic Fan's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
i'll take the hardline here and say that, yes, the cavs are crap. undoubtedly so. the cleveland cavaliers are nothing more than a one-man team with an overgrown steve francis as their centerpiece, a poor man's jason terry in the secondary role, a floppy vagina at power forward and a merry band of has-beens, never-wases and d-leaguers playing bit roles. all coached by a hack who makes george karl seem cerebral in comparison. i should also add that cavs fans and lebron james sycophants--especially those in the media--are subhuman filth. there. it's been said because it needed to be said. -
stuart scott is easily the corniest guy on the corniest network on cable. he's like the sportscaster version of a minstrel show. i kind of feel sorry for him because it doesn't seem like there's anyone working for ESPN who is willing or able to pull him to the side and tell him how stupid he sounds. "the boy gets his vitamins". ugh. gtfoh.

Wow.. Avery Johnson just predicted the 76ers to upset Orlando..

i'll never understand how avery johnson got his job. i'm sure he's a nice guy and all, but he sounds like a chihuahua on crack most of the time. -
with almost half a season worth of basketball left to be played, i wouldn't put too much stock in us being a whopping .6 rpg away--we are no longer at -.1, which just goes to show you how quickly the numbers can change--from having a +1.0 rpg differential. this team is in the top 10 (6th) in defensive rebounding percentage. iow, there are only 5 teams in the league that do a better job at limiting their opponents' offensive rebounds than we do. imo, that's the statistic that we should be most concerned with at the end of the season. the real trouble for us with regard to rebounding is our awful offensive rebounding percentage. basketball-reference.com has us at 27th in the league in that department; just above the 29th ranked san antonio spurs. of course, these numbers aren't really that surprising when you consider that good defensive teams are usually more concerned with getting back on defense than crashing the offensive glass. perhaps the guys at the painted area blog should do an analysis of the offensive and defensive rebounding percentages of teams that have made it to the finals the past 25 years.

this is an abomination in the eyes of the basketball gods.

how would jameer stop paul's steal streak? -
here's to auggie making the best of his time in one of the elite european leagues. hopefully, he'll take advantage of this opportunity to knock the sawdust out of fran vasquez when they meet. i know i would.

lee doesn't need to develope, he's already dominate.

really, the only kind of "aggressive" i'm expecting from rashard lewis next season is the same old "passive-aggressive" style we saw last season. basically, "i dare you to come out here and guard me at the 3pt line" redux with the occasional foray into the paint on shaky looking dribble drives. having a more aggressive attitude always helps, but until rashard actually develops something closer to the kind of skillset you expect a star perimeter player to have, hedo will continue to be our go-to guy on the outside. i wouldn't hold out any hope at this stage in the game, though. he is what he is, and he isn't a star.
