    Shard on Celtics Celebrations

can't take it personal.... unless that makes you perform better. still, emotions can't get in the way of business - magic need to be determined and stay poised. Doc and his muppet's cheerleading antics really do not matter anymore. winning this series would be justice enough!

What is the difference between Orlando and Boston?

SI.com article hating on Celtics and their fans

Meybe he should concentrate more on the game and not on his own image with all the blogging and trying to be funny. He callls himself superman, but he cant even handle Perk and Big Baby. Orlando will never win a championship with a player like that!!! yea we need floppers and classless chumps to win right? LOL funny article.
  4. quote: Originally posted by CeltsWin:Celtics fan here. It is really pathetic to read your posts on how the refs are the main reason this series are tied. There were some bad calls, I'll give you that, but it goes both ways. There a lot of questionable calls going the other way, but I guess you only choose to see one side of it. Bad calls happen all the time and there is nothing you can do about it. If Boston wins this series it will be because they outplayed Orlando, not becasue of the refs. Stop making execuses for your team's inability to close games and make important stops and buckets. I saw someone compared the loss of Jameer Nelson to loss of Garnett. Thats just too funny. Garnett is heart and soul of this team: not only offensive and defensive player, but the leader. He is the difference maker! Jameer Nelson is a very good player, but not a difference maker. Celts in 7! you're right the refs are great - but the C's play dirtier than any team in the league.

The day Dwight embraces the fact he's a foul magnet and actually attempts to draw fouls, he'll live at the foul line. When Dwight is up against an over aggressive defender who does a good job of knocking him off his spots like Perkins, he should deliberately attempt to draw fouls on him. It's too easy to defend a player you know is trying to avoid contact & the foul line! Can you imagine the over reaction a DH pump fake would create? Draw a few fouls and then that becomes a part of Dwight meta-game that discourages over aggressive defenders from going hard after every move he makes and buys him that step he needs to get off better shots. Think about what makes Pierce such a tough cover. It's not his extra ordinary athleticism. It's his ability to keep the defender guessing. I think this is a great post. To add, IMO the problem in the playoffs is that Dwight can be and is pushed outside the paint and he starts turning the ball over and attempting the running hook which he's not making consistently. At that point, he becomes a lialibility offensesively. Needs to face the basket and draw the foul more often at bigger defenders. Pump fake would be a great addition. His frees aren't that bad and it stops the clock when you're down in the 4th. Offensive liability is pushing it a little though. Dwight, when patient, can make some good passes and draw alot of attention to get some open shooters with their feet planted instead of throwing up a fade away forced shot. Let's not forget Dwight's job isn't only on offense. He is the DPOY and if that's not good than you must be on some terrible sht. Oh and Shard is the man too, but he's not your typical defensive PF - especially in the paint banging around with bigger PFs. Howard has to make up for that also. I think Dwight does try to draw fouls but the no calls can be tiring. GO MAGIC! Sure, Dwight's is huge defensively, I'm just saying that when he's pushed around it becomes harder to go to him Shaq like. He's compared to Shaq many times, but Shaq could consistently back down defenders to dunk or make short hooks. Dwight starts the running hook things and IMO loses effectiveness as a post scorer. The problem with this is it gets harder to go to him consistently in the 4th, which would be great. well....... is this a Dwight vs. Shaq topic, or a comparason? I think it's easy to say Shaq never earned a DPOY - but Howard has plenty of time to get the ball in the 4th. If you watched games all season long, they rarely give him the ball in the 4th in the first place, plus not every center Dwight faces is twice his weight in Davis and Perkins. Howard can back down plenty of C's in the league at ease. It's when they flop, that keeps him doing it as hard as he could. that's the biggest mistake people have, Howard isn't Shaq - Dwight has more class and more talent athleticly.
  6. LOL "go-to" scorer - go to where? nah just kidding. this cliche is getting so old. The one who scores is the "go-to" scorer, right? Or is it, the who everyone goes to, to score is the "go to" scorer............ uh, right? That can be anyone, seriously. Shard should've had the ball more in the fourth. Lee came out of nowhere and came through. Turk made a couple of forced shots - so why is a lack of a go to scorer, going cost the Magic a championship? oh and last I checked it's still the 2nd round. just my thoughts, but anyone can be the go to scorer in any game. every game is different and if you're Glen Baby Davis, you can be the go to guy too. SI just want's to hype up the series, wich is fine - but lacking a go to scorer?

Magic can't let their emotions go overboard. they need the fire and intensity and aggressiveness --- all that is good --- hurt feelings and sorrow will drive them into the ground. They need to stay serious but play ball at the same time. It can't be personal, it has to be all competition and all business and loving it. may be a flaw that a 23 year old C Dwight might have - along with a young team that has faced little adversity in the playoffs until now - but a flaw that can be fixed with a loss like last night. go to work Magic!

  9. quote: Originally posted by SmackDaddy:I for one have been enormously impressed with JJ's defense (of all things) during the playoffs. He seems to be the only player out there 100% committed to shutting down every single possession. His court vision and ball movement is also off the charts. Having said that I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that if either Alston or AJ don't have it going, I would like to see a lineup on the floor consisting of either Lee or JJ at the point, with Hedo running point forward and Pietrus getting the bulk of the SG minutes. I was surprised to see SVG go with this unit to close the game, and IMO it was our most effective 5 man unit. I would also LOVE to see SVG yank Hedo out of the game if he continues to shoot nothing but step-back fadeaway 3ptrs in favor of a defensive unit. Lee Pietrus Shard Gortat Dwight My thoughts exactly - i think Lee can def be a future starting PG, and it would be risky trying to start him there in the postseason, but Pietrus and Lee is a nasty combo. Reddick is hustling and is earning his spot and should get his share of minutes. If Turk can control himself with a little help from Stan - then it's still very possible to pull out a win in Boston. Alston and AJ have their hands full with one of the best PGs in the NBA playoffs this year. I'd like to see the Dwight Gortat combo more often also. Shard needs to keep taking advantage of the mismatch. btw - nice sig

Hedo - and no it's not an "I'm b****ing" thread

Move the ball, rotate the offense and drive to the basket when the shots aren't falling - maybe it's as simple as that - play smart and give it to your BIG Man sometimes to stop the clock or play in out. the plays run are sometimes too redundant - there has to be some creativity when the shots aren't falling. sounds easier said then done. can't blame Hedo alone for this one. I don't believe he is selfish, but maybe stubborn. He's been the hero Hedo before, but he does have to know when to dish or create for another teammate. Especially with the amount of attention he can attract at times in the 4th.

  12. Great game last night! It was a hard one to go home to - but - who said it was going to be easy? The champs have gone through alot without their star Garnet and this just proves that any team can win it in the NBA. Magic will keep their heads up and come strong in game 6. It had to leave a burning feeling in their hearts.... and YES, that's what it's going to take! 1.HEART 2.AGGRESSIVENESS 3.DETERMINATION Stan has been a doing a great job all season long, and we have plenty of talent and brains on the squad. It can't end this way - there is still so much to accomplish - there are so many haters to shut up! Keep scoring in the paint Magic! They can't stop the entire team driving to the lane - pass the ball, move without the ball - get in the paint! This is my first post, i don't know, just trying to support my team! I was at the game last night and wanted to slap a few C fans just to feel better, but didn't and still hoping to see our team take it to the next level! This team has grown up quick this season, with all the injuries and especially with all the strife in the postseason - through the no calls, bad calls and a dirty, resiliant team in the celtics.
