I'm fine with one of Porter Jr./Langford/NAW. I trust our FO to make the right choice. Of the three, I believe NAW is the safest pick (highest floor, lowest ceiling) and possibly the best "fit". Porter Jr., imo, has the highest ceiling but the biggest bust potential, and Langford falls somewhere between the two, although his shooting is a little concerning.

I think Langford has a higher ceiling than KPJ

Little is kind of a blank slate. If we drafted him I think the play is to have him cut weight and develop him as a sg.

I really don't like Little. He can't shoot, he cant defend, he has a low BBIQ, poor court awareness, etc. Too many red flags. he's athletic but he just isn't good. He was benched on numerous occasions at UNC. Picking him at 16 would be a head scratcher imo

Then why is Brooklyn going after an older, more expensive version of him?

That's why theyre going after an all-NBA caliber point guard who is about to enter his prime and who actually wants to go there? Kyrie is better than DLo, if you have the chance to sign him you do it

Russell isn't terrible. He's just super streaky and a defensive liability. When he's on he's really good. When he's not on he's unplayable. he has a crazy amount of games where he shoots Brooklyn out of the game in the first half by going 4/16 only to rally the team back in the fourth quarter by hitting 7 of 9 shots. His offensive efficiency took a significant jump because he started hitting a ton of deep twos at an elite level. The unfortunate thing about that is every other elite player has big swings in efficiency in that area from year to year. So any improvement in that area this year might completely disappear next year. He's also a really low bball iq player. He has terrible shot selection and iirc Brooklyn lost at least two games last year in the final seconds when he threw a bad pass instead of holding onto the ball and waiting to get fouled.

He's going to get a gigantic contract because he's 23 and has number one option potential. But a big contract should worry the fans of whatever team he goes to because it really has the potential to be a Wiggins like albatross.

If I could choose any of the three Brooklyn guards to put on the magic Russell would be my third choice and I think that's a really bad sign when you're about to give a guy 100 million.

He's going to be a franchise changing player for someone. Either he's going to continue to hone his game with more experience and smooth over his rough parts and be a steal or he's going to limit a team's ceiling by having enough big moments to make him think he's a star but his overall play can't live up to the expectations that come with that role and he just Reggie Jackson's your team.

Russell is a very dedicated worker and a great leader. Wiggins just isn't motivated. I don't think he has Wiggins potential at all.

  5. Someone asked the Magic on IG today when we're getting new uniforms and the account replied with a "shhhh" emoji.... Do you guys think something is in the works? Imo we're long overdue for a rebranding, with new logos and uniforms. The current ones reek of Dwightmare and Rob Hennigan

I don't have any interest in Russell unless it is in a Lou Williams, 6th man, scoring punch off the bench.

I think last year was a bit of a anomaly and I rather not pay him a bunch of money since he doesn't get to the line or pass very well.

He averaged 7 assists per game last year and had a 2.26:1 assist to turnover ratio. He was in the top 15 in potential assists. In what universe is he not a good passer?

    1. To accumulate more talent. You don't build a team for October. You build a team for the next 5 years. Maybe he's good and we can trade Isaac or Gordon for a star. Maybe he's good and we can trade him for a star without giving up any of our current young core. Maybe he's just a really really good backup center who gives us something different to pair with Bamba in the rotation.

    2. Utah had 7 guys filling pg/sg minutes when they drafted Mitchell. You think they regret it?

    3. There's overwhelming likelihood we get a backup wing at 16.

    4. While I don't necessarily agree with them, there's a very large subsection of NBA draft people that think Clarke is the second or third best player in this draft. He's going to slip because he's 22, undersized, not long and can't currently shoot threes. But he led the nation in both offensive rating and defensive rating, had a box score plus minus that was better than any player in college basketball (with the exception of Zion) since the 10/11 season which is the first year bballref has it, and for conventional stats shot 71% on two pointers with 3.2 blocks per game.

His age and the fact that he cant space the floor is what concerns me. Is his length really a concern? I cant find a reliable source for his wingspan, but some say its 7 feet, some say its 6'10". that's really good for a 6'8" guy. He scores the ball with really good efficiency, but if you cant shoot the 3 in the modern NBA, you're going to struggle for minutes. I guess Hetzel could work with him on his 3, but I'm just not 100% sold on Clarke as a prospect over someone like Porter or Alexander-Walker or Langford. His offensive and defensive ratings are really good, but are those a product of him being THAT good, or of him being on a really efficient Gonzaga team?

He's good. Talent is more important and he's a 4/5.

I'm all for BPA and all that but what would be the point of drafting another tweener 4/5 combo? To draft a backup at 16? To trade AG? What would that accomplish? Is he really that much better than any of the wings that'll be there for us at 16?

No expectations. We don't even know if this kid has picked up a basketball in the last 8 months or whatever. I hope he is doing well but at this point It's whatever happens happens with him.

We saw a video of him goofing around shooting a layup back in late March

Markelle is only getting hate because

    a) Twitter trolls are awful.

    2) Philly fans are awful.

    d) Philly fan twitter trolls are the absolute worst.

Can confirm as both a Cowboys fan and as a fan of the team that stole their #1 pick away from them

    We wouldn't

But we could decide to be spenders with brogdon as one option among several options.

And Milwaukee has a ton of free agents. Maybe they won't prioritize brogdon. We'd have to overpay though.

Who else does Milwaukee need to re-sign? Middleton, Brogdon, and Lopez? Cant they go over the cap for all of them?

Unless we get a verbal "I want to come here" from a Kemba or someone similar, I don't see a need to dump a productive and young guy like Fournier. Maybe if Kyrie goes to Brooklyn and Dlo all of a sudden becomes available, I would. But we really aren't in play for any big name FA's this summer

So I went back and looked at that guys initial post and he said his source was on the medical side of things so he'd have no idea at all about that we plan on offering vucevic or what Dallas' plans are. It doesn't make sense.

Points 2 and 3 are plausible scenarios. This draft kind of sucks. I pointed out the first page of this topic that trading fournier and 16 for JR Smith (to clear salary) was a possible scenario.

Brogdon makes sense as a target in free agency as Hammond drafted him and dumping Fournier would give us a hole in that position.

But the vucevic stuff, his market isn't going to be in the 20s.

I just don't see the purpose in us clearing cap for a restricted free agent. I think Brogdon would fit in here perfectly, but he isn't leaving Milwaukee. They're gonna match anything. And who else would we chase with that money?

  13. Someone posted this on the Magic subreddit today. I have no clue if this guy is legit (I'm inclined to not believe him) but this would be a pretty solid offseason for us imo. The only gripe I have is trading the pick for cap relief. I don't see us making a play for any big names in free agency.

  14. I just watched some Herro highlights to try to keep an open mind. All he really has on his mixtape us him hitting open 3's, layups in transition, or cooking defenders from small D1 schools. He's a tenacious defender and can shoot, but he doesn't fit the overall direction and philosophy of the team (won't be able to defend NBA players, short wingspan, etc.). It's a no from me

Any updates after the combine and interviews? Who dropped? Who moved up? who has, still, a lot of question marks?

Tyler Herro is working out for us. I really don't want him on Orlando but I guess WeltHam is just keeping their options open

And it seems like the Warriors can turn on some absolutely smothering defense whenever they want/need to.

Draymond is one of my favorite players in the league because of this reason. When he turns on his playoff mode he is absolutely insane
