  1. ok so one of the older admins had access to the profanity filter where you could input specific find and replace coding for the words you want to throw in there. As a joke he put Feqan as HWNSNBU which is He who's name shall not be uttered

Haha okay gotcha. I figured it was a play on HWSNBN. Thanks for the clarification, it was driving me crazy.

Edit- just now seeing that it changed his name to that in my question haha

  2. Yeah I thought he meant something different.

I'll try to clear this up-

You said Henny can't build around a dominant player. He asked what proof you have to say that (since Henny has never had a dominant player on his roster- excluding Dwight, as trading him was Henny's first order of business).

Henny's track record doesn't lead one to be overly optimistic about building around a star, but it would definitely be a different situation than he's had for his tenure here. I'd love to have the opportunity to see what he can do to build around a star (because that means we'd have a star!), but I in no way would want the first star Henny deals with building around to be one of the most unstable stars in recent memory.

  3. also, garret temple and a few other guys liked him but the majority of his teammates hated being around him.

Seems like a guy we should have done everything in our power to get! Serge didn't exactly line up with the rest of our guys and it caused problems throughout the locker room that effected our performance. Multiply that crap x100 and you have the potential of what Cousins would have caused.

Again, I'm extremely happy he's not our problem to deal with.

  4.

I think a competent GM could build a playoff team around Cousins in a year. A competent GM can give him a reason to resign.

    That's an opinion.

Everything other than statistics that are posted on here are opinions.

Assuming your opinion above is correct- it's my opinion that we don't have a competent GM that would be up to the task of building a team and environment in the next year that would be attractive to Cousins.

  5. So did we not just want DMC? Because we sure as hell could have gotten him.

    Fire rob.

There is no way he would have resigned with us. We would have dumped valuable assets for a year and change of drama and friction. He is a knucklehead and is tired of losing. Bad mix of characteristics for someone coming into our organization right now.

Whether we whiffed or passed altogether, I'm glad we didn't trade for him.

  6. That trade is a no brainer if it's a real option. It'd be one of Henny's only wins.

I want no part of trading Mario to Det though. Even just thinking about it, I have this sick feeling that Stan would be perfect for him and turn him into yet another Magic killer for years. That would be too much to bare.

God this team has made me so negative.

  7. interesting, what do you like about him? what are some things you've seen him do? He checks the FT% box for me, but I haven't seen him play. He could probably spread the floor at the next level. One thing is for sure he is very raw.

He's long and athletic. Shoots well from 3 (up to 39% and has been steadily increasing over his 3 years). Rebounds well. He'd definitely be a project due to his weight, but he's got the size, athleticism and shooting touch to be an interesting piece in a few years.

Full disclosure- I'm a Gator fan.

  8. I'm expecting more deals to go down, but for the time being this likely means Gordon gets to start at the four so the question is who starts at the 3. I think Green likely draws those at first but other trades or hopefully an emergence from Ross could change that.

I think, for now, Ross starts at the 3 with Mario backing him up and Green backs up AG at the 4.

  9.

Thanks for the help! You should post in the other topics to make sure everyone knows this trade happened and find out what they think. Go Magic!

  10. I would do that, but I'd feel a lot better about it if Mario, at this point in the season, was producing more. Though I'm thinking he's starting to hit a turning point

Let me explain why I think it's okay to give up AG. I think he has a great future, but right now he's been inconsistent on the offensive front and this is year 3. I want a stud PG because I think PGs are game changers in the NBA today

I get that. But I also think we're setting ourselves up to be able to have our cake and eat it too (keep AG and one of those top 3 PGs in the draft). I think we should hold onto Vuc (and AG) until before the draft and take a look at things then, unless someone blows us away before then, which I don't think is likely.

  11. Trade 2 of either Peyton Fournier and Vuch for the Brooklyn pick, let Ross be the starting SG. Draft one of the PGs and then maybe a center or guard depending on who we trade

That's not nearly enough to get that pick. I think we'd have to give them AG Vuc and our pick to get that Brooklyn pick.

  12. But offensively we are dead with him. Besides some put-back-dunks and some pick-and-rolls, he can do nothing noticeable.

If we draft one of the top PGs, he could work as our starting C. We won't necessarily need him to provide much scoring when we have a scoring threat at PG who can run the P&R with him. Adding another shooter in Ross and hopefully continued development from Mario and I think we'd have enough offense to mitigate Biz's inability to score.

    Smith/Payton

    Fournier/Mario

    Ross/Mario

AG/someone from the Vuc trade/FA vet

    Biz/Zim

  13. It's weird. The Dwight trade was good. The Fournier trade was good. Ibaka was good in a sense you got the best player just not at the right stage. The Detroit deal was horrible because we got no project or draft pick.

Right, he's decent at identifying potential talent, which he did with the Vuc/Fournier deals. But he's a horrible negotiator and will never be able to get the better of another GM when it comes to established talent/picks.

  14. Do we trade Vuch now?

My hope is that we continue to shop him and see if we can get a deal we feel good about. We have much more leverage with Vuc in trade talks than we did with Ibaka (obviously). If we get an offer before the deadline that we can't say no to, pull the trigger. If not, hold onto him and see how he looks the rest of the season not that his roll will go back to where it was pre-Ibaka. Then, wait until the draft and see what teams will offer at that point.

I'm kind of switching my stance on Vuc, from WE HAVE TO CASH OUT ON HIM NOW a few weeks ago, to now "make a move if the right one comes along. If not, hold onto him and keep getting production on a good contract".

We absolutely must win the trade if Vuc is dealt. I'm tired of losing trades.
