Ball is not going to give us that Go to guy we desperately need but it is an improvement at PG nonetheless.

We need to be more aggressive with Dallas for DSJ. Maybe be the 3rd team in the LA and NOLA and flip Ball to Dallas for DSJ.

Why would Dallas trade a PG who needs the ball and can kind of shoot for a a PG who needs the ball who can't shoot at all?

Gotta say this is crazy if you take a step back.

We have our first all star in 10 years and we are gonna get rid of him hahaha.

I mean I'm ok with it sort of...

Just from the outside looking in he is gonna be a all star ..the whole league are gonna think we are nuts and going to get absolutely slaughtered by trading him. Hence why I think we are just gonna let him run out his contract and when he decides to go elsewhere it doesn't look as bad.

I don't think a team that gives Jerian Grant significant minutes really cares what people think.

We might trade Vuc, we might let him walk....but either way it won't be based on how it will make us look to the rest of the league.

  3. It's actually pretty funny how transparent the Mavs' attempts are right now. We, as modest fans, are laughing at how obvious these "WE'RE TALKING AND EVERYTHING'S FINE GUYZ" reports are...so think about how our FO sees it. I think they know we have them right where we want them.

I still think it's more likely that we don't do a trade with them, but I also think it's pretty certain we're not going to do something stupid.

Unless we trade VUC and our season goes completely down the tubes it is highly unlikely that are pick would be a top 3 pick. I would rather guarantee ourselves a young PG who has been in the league, can shoot and is ultra athletic who also is a fierce competitor compared to a lets see what we get and hope it pans out pick.

With our luck in the lotto, the one time we trade our pick unprotected, we'd end up getting the #1.

  5. I think we're at the point where it's probably not going to happen, though there is still plenty of time. I'm proud of us for holding firm and not offering any of our young guys. No move is better than a bad move.

The recent "hopeful reconciliation" reports do seem like a semi-desperate attempt to salvage some value, for sure. I just am not feeling to optimistic that we'll find a way to get it done.

I think Ross sticks with us getting DSJ would be an exciting move and we’d rely on him as a starter. From what I can gather I think he likes it here and his position of leadership. I know he said he hates the cold too

That would be the hope. I'm just saying worst case, we end up with neither and there aren't many options to fill that roll. I am 100% on board with resigning Ross. I wish we had some way of knowing how receptive he'll be to that. I'm sure it's being discussed with his people already.

Dallas wanting fournier isn't crazy when you look at the free agent market this summer.

    JJ is almost 35

    Danny Green is almost 32

    Tyreke isn't a fit

    Ross

    Garrett Temple

    Rivers

    KCP

    Seth Curry.

So we're all going to be focused on getting a PG, but if we trade EF and Ross walks we're going to be in a tough position at SG.

Not disagreeing with this at all. DSJ was the guy I wanted clearly in that draft but he comes with just as many question marks as Issac does at this point IMO. I don’t think any player (Smith/JI/AG) are homerun gets. I guess I just don’t agree with people saying those dudes are untouchable. I get people being paranoid after the Dipo trade but still.

No one is saying they're untouchable. Just that we aren't interested in giving up one of them to get DSJ.

If we make a deal for DSJ does he start or does DJ hold down the starting position for the remainder if this season?

I think we definitely keep DJ in the SL. I think DSJ coming off the bench will be ideal while he learns our system. He could run the point or even move over to SG and play with Briscoe, pushing Ross to the 3.

I think Dallas would like dj but there's not really a great way to incorporate him into the trade given his money. Putting dj into the deal starts to include too many players as you try to match money.

Hope that's the case. Also, I meant Briscoe, not Caupain.

  11. I see some speculation that DJ might be included in a potential trade with DAL. Personally, I'm not interested in that at all. Briscoe may well end up being a serviceable back up, but he's far from proven. Getting DSJ while losing DJ isn't really an upgrade for our rotation, at least for this season. DSJ could end up being good, but we already know what DJ is and how important he is for the team.

Got to find a way to make that trade happen and keep DJ and allow DSJ to run with the second unit and add some firepower.
