That would help out but I don't know if the promise of more money would really help the Magic in their situation.
I think most players would probably turn it down because "they want to get a ring" but really they just want to surround themselves with the best players possible
-
In my opinion, here are guys that could help us out, and yes I realize that some of these would be practically impossible to get
Troy Murphy
Jeff Green - even though I don't think the C's would let him go
Nazr Mohammed
Joel Przybilla
Anthony Parker
Caron Butler
Arron Afflalo
JR. Smith
Nene
Tracy McGrady
Tayshaun Prince
Acie Law
Al Thorton
Chuck Hayes
TJ Ford
DeAndre Jordan
Shane Battier
Leon Powe
Chris Douglas-Roberts
Luc Richard Mbah a Moute
Sebastian Telfair
David West
Carl Landry
Ronny Turiaf
Thaddeus Young
Mickael Pietrus
Patrick Mills
Marcus Thornton
Marquis Daniels
Julian Wright
C.J. Miles
Josh Howard
I realize that only a couple could be added this season via FA...but I think these are the types of players that the Magic need and could fill in gaps in the Magic rosters. Some would need to be convinced of their roles as bench players (ie. TMac) and others would probably fit in and start (ie. Nene, Jeff Green, Al Thorton)
Anyways, I think adding 1-2 via FA would help, then try and acquire 2-3 more via trade is what the Magic need to try and do. Out of those 5 new players. Try and get 1 Superstars and 1 above average player and 3 role players. Then next season, go after Paul/DWill

I'd rather take my chances on a guy like JR Smith who could come here and put his athletic abilities to good use than a 34 year old wingman who was once an all-star and isn't named Kobe.
If you had to choose, who would you like to see here:
Mayo/Smith/Ellis - SG
Granger/Gay/Iggy - SF
-
It wasn't really all that stupid. Vince and JRich just turned into corpses when they got here. That is why I support a guy like JR Smith. He is still young and athletic.
Get him and trade for a guy like Iggy.
Plus the LOLz of an Arenas and Smith backcourt with Brandon Bass as a power forward are almost to much to bear.
They didn't just magically turn into corpses when they got here. They were already on the decline in their game and it was obvious. Otis was hoping that they would turn back into prime versions of themselves when they got here, which is completely stupid.
You don't trade a future strong position player for players past their primes in hopes that if they return to their prime state they would be better off than your rookie.
Thats what we call bad management.
-
Giving away a first isn't too bad, since we don't really know how to draft anyways. And whenever we do hit a draft pick, he's one layup away from being traded.
Stupidest move Otis ever made.
We want to get younger and we traded away our young, athletic SG position and got older and slower at SG.

Use the MLE on Buike and Hayes
Sign McGrady to the vet min
Resign Earl Diddy
Arenas/McGrady/Duhon
Iggy/Redick
Maggs/Buike/Clark
Ryan/Gooden
Dwight/Hayes
CHAMPIONSHIP
OMGASSSH GUYSSSSSSSSS, THATS THE BEST LINE UP EVARRRRRRRRRRR
-
If JRich is willing to take a major pay cut in order to help out Orlando. Would you still keep him? He can provide good offense for us, but keeping him and JJ and still looking for a younger more athletic SG, might be overkill at that position.
Don't you think?
-
We all know what happened the last time a certain draft day trade was rumored...
The best thread ever, followed by soaring hopes and dreams, followed by utter despair.

F me I forgot about Buike but I'd give him 2 or 3 mil on a short contract and hope for the best. Really I would. Dude is aces.
Are you sure you're not a Kentucky fan?
The Magic seem to be drawn to a lot of KY players recently - Hayes, Azubuike, Prince (briefly mentioned), Nazr...might as well try and get Patrick Patterson from Houston. Patrick Patterson for Daniel Orton straight up.
Seriously though, if Kelena could get his knees fixed up and play a healthy season, he'd be an amazing steal. He's a solid player and was just starting to find his role on GS before he got hurt.
-
Would need another legit SF (move Rudy perhaps?) but I like it, spacing could be an issue since Andre cant hit the three and Monta only shoots 36% from out there. Lee sucks on D but he's smart and is a great rebounder so basically he's infinitely better than Bass.
I'd rather have Rudy than Iggy all day...
Other than that, that line up is acceptable...haha

ESPN is going to interview one of the reporters for the Orlando Sentinel on Sportscenter, sometime this hour if anyone is interested in seeing what they are going to say.
ESPN's headlines were "Is Dwight leaving Orlando? Is he paving the trail to head out of O-Town" You knew they were going to eat this up.

Ellis, Iggy, & Gay are the most attainable. That doesn't mean we will, but I'd say if we are going to acquire a stud, it'd be one of those guys. Maybe add Granger to that list too.
But like I said, we'll get Roy. Otis loves giving out second chances.
The more I watch Memphis, the more I really think Gay could have lost his place just because they've found a team that can win without him.
I'd love to pull a Chicago Bulls and get like 3 players from Memphis. Gay, Mayo, and Battier.
If I could form any team I wanted thats somewhat within reason
Paul/Arenas
Mayo/JJ
Gay/Battier
Okafor/Hayes/Clark
Dwight/Nazr/Orton
How all of that would come together, I have no clue, and yes i realize thats practically impossible and a pipedream. However, it obtaining the players from Memphis seems reasonable. But doing that then having enough to get Okafor/Paul, then signing Hayes and Nazr, is too much. But like I said, if I could form any team I wanted. Thats what it would look like.

Iggy Gay Paul Mayo Ellis DWill
These seem to be the names that are popping up a lot. Mainly because its just on most people's wishlist, but if the Magic were to take a serious look at these 6 players. Which two of them would be the easiest to acquire? If any. Any chance of landing more than one of these guys or is that just a pipe dream and we'd be lucky to land one and get filler players for the rest.
-
Really?
You wouldn't give up Jameer/Redick/Orton for Chris Paul?
Credit goes to SubyWill, btw. I thought it was the most plausible CP3 trade I've seen thus far.
If we're going to trade with N.O. I'd want something else in return, I feel like if the Magic any chance at all of landing Paul, it would have to include Okafor as well. When you add Okafor in the mix, you'd have to throw in probably Bass and Q with that package.
I guess I'm just thinking about other potential trades, with JJ and Jameer being probably our two biggest trade pieces (Anderson being the 3rd), I think that the Magic would need to probably split those two up in order to get maximum return.
Thats why I said no thanks, not because it was a bad idea or that I wouldn't do it. I am just trying to think of the whole issue and not just one upgrade.

Saw this over at RealGM, definitely a pipedream......but maybe a more realistic one? If that makes any sense........I dunno.
ORL:
Out-Jameer, Redick, Orton (maybe Clark)
In- Chris Paul
N.O.:
Out: Chris Paul, Trevor Ariza
In: Iguodala, Jameer
PHI:
Out: Iguodala
In: Ariza, Redick, Orton (Maybe Clark)
Thoughts?
No thanks

So according to ESPN, the Lakers are now interested in Gay, Paul, and Dwight.
The Magic are interested in Gay, Paul, and Dwight.
Who will win??????
-
So, we've gone from a big that can play defense (Shard), to bigs that at least try on defense (Bass/Ryno), to a big that can't even act like he cares about defense?
What's our next target? A stump?
Thanks bro! Great Post!
Will read again!!

um, wall was 100 times more prepared to play in the nba than knight.
Wall wasn't much different. His A/TO ratio wasn't very good and he had no clue how to control the tempo...his tempo was fast and that was it.
Knight is a quiet leader who could really blossom really well in the right system, if he plays back up for a year or two. But like I said, I realize trading for a lottery pick would be ridiculous, but if we could do it - what would that package look like?
-
SHOCKING
Yes, I know, Kentucky guy pushing Kentucky players....but there is a reason KY has had a lot of players taken in the first 15 picks the last 2 years. It's cause there is legit talent there and Knight is no different. He is more prepared for the NBA than Wall was when he came in. It's just a thought, I figure if I don't talk about em no one will.
But guys on here seem to be feeling an invasion of KY with the Magic team.
Trade for Prince
Sign Hayes
Sign Nazr
While we're add it, lets have Houston trade us CLee and Patrick Patterson for JRich/Anderson/Cash/Future Picks
Then trade Jameer, JJ, Bass, Hedo to NJ for DWill, Outlaw, and their 1st round pick and draft Brandon Knight
DWill/Arenas/Knight
CLee/Q
Prince/Outlaw/
Hayes/Patterson
Dwight/Nazr/Fran
We got a KY stew goin

I was just thinking about something and I realize what I'm about to say is going to come across as crazy and probably completely unrealistic...BUT
Is there any package that the Magic could make, that doesnt include Dwight, and get a lottery pick in return?
If so, you want a young point guard that plays smart and has consistent scoring? Look no further than Kentucky and Brandon Knight.
Personally I think this kid would be a perfect way to rebuild this team. He's taller and lengthier than Jameer and he's able to drive this team in a way similar to Holiday with the Sixers.
Again, I know getting a lottery pick is freaking impossible, but do you guys see any package we could make minus Dwight and get a lottery pick?

What station, what time, who did the interview? This would be news today, and it is not. Why is that?
I believe Otis will trade Jameer and J rich, but don't believe your post. Sorry.
Didn't you hear? Otis has decided to share his master plan on public radio for the first time EVER!
ITS A NEW DAY BOYS...LETS DANCE!
-
what nba players can i get for jameer and j-rich in a trade?
I'm glad you classified that we're talking about the NBA here. I thought for sure we could probably get Terrell Owens or something like that, but since you made it NBA players, then I guess I'll have to think about this a little more
Oh and IBTL
Could be the end for a lot of guys

It was a tear in his first patella tendon
When they had surgery on his knee, the doctor botched the surgery which is why it is taking longer to recover.
I read an article saying that toward the end of this season, Buike could've played but with Melo and Fields playing so well, he didn't want to risk it.
Again, I'll say, He would be awesome on this team if he comes back stronger than ever.
He was shooting 55% from the field when he got injured. For his career, he is shooting 40% from the 3pt line. And since he hasn't been playing for a season and a half. His legs are still fresh.
