Draft Preview: Who to watch in March Madness

I agree that going after Bledsoe would be a good pick up, but dont you think that the PG spot is so depleted this year that Blesoe will probably be picked up in the early teens?

Draft Preview: Who to watch in March Madness

What about Daniel Orton from Kentucky? I know that he has been getting a lot of love from GM's in the NBA. He's got a lot of raw talent but loves to get rough down low. He'll get the rebounds and he is a beast a blocking. Might go well with Dwight on the other side of the paint. http://kentuckysportsradio.com/?p=47882 What do you think?

    Draft Pick

Here is a new topic that I think would be an interesting conversation. Who do you all think the Magic will go after in the draft? I realize that the draft is a long way away and that the draft isnt complete until all the underclassmen declare for the draft. However there are some players you could very well bank on the fact that they are going to go to the draft. So what do you guys think? What type of player and who (if you can think of one) would you like to see, realistically, in a Magic uni next year as a rookie??
  4. quote: NJ they don't need Wall and give them Gortat for Wall and Battie! All depending on if they get the first overall pick! Or any team for that matter would take Tat! Yes. Like that will work. I wish, but never will happen.

    Draft Pick

I wasnt underrating him at all. That last mock draft I saw (back in Nov) said that Pat was going to go 18-20th pick. So, I'm glad that he is moving up, but I was really hoping that Magic could get him. Why Kemba Walker? I think he's good, but he is just another Jameer, a undersized point guard. I think we should go with a larger point guard that way it could be another advantage for the Magic when they need it.

    Draft Pick

Now, I may not know as much as some of you when it comes to the Magic, but the one thing I do know is Kentucky basketball. Cousins is not a bad guy. Yes, he had some temper issues at the beginning of the season, but he doesnt let it affect him that much anymore. He has grown up a lot and I personally think he needs to stay at Kentucky for another year to work on not fouling as much. But don't judge Demarcus just because he was a little rough around the edges in the beginning. However, that is a mute point. Cousins will be a top 5 pick. I think Lucas (Michigan State) is a possibility and a good one at that. I've always liked him. I think Pittman (Texas) is also another good possibility for another big man. But here is someone who is predicted to be a late 1st round pick that not many people are talking about. Patrick Patterson. I know I'm biased, but Patterson is a guy who will work really hard and gets the sloppy buckets. Also this season he has shown that he can step out and shoot the 3 if he needs to. Anyone like Patterson?

Dude, I am going to give you major props for that picture. If the Magic could figure out a way to get John Wall - I would probably squeel like a little girl. John Wall or DeMarcus Cousins or Patrick Patterson. Any of them would be a great addition to the team.

    What is Missing?

Yea, I think a lot of people were convinced that Vince was the answer we needed because of his high flying style and easy ability to score. However, even though Vince is a great player and I am glad he is on the team, since essentially swapping him for Turk, teams match up better against us. THE Magic used to be this team that was very hard to match up with 2 6'10 guys and a 6'11 Center. Not many people were going to find that. I think that might be a bigger problem than people realize. We are just an easier team to match up with on paper. Nelson's injury prone self is hurting us too. I saw him in the Dallas game last night holding his wrist. I'm not saying we need to trade him (actually I am) but I will agree that something is off from last years team.

    Free Agent Wish List

I saw someone else on here, not sure who, say that the Magic need to sure up the PF and PG spot. I could not agree more. So lets look at our team, then look at the good available free agents for 2010. Now before I do this, I will say that I do not know much about the salary cap rules other than there is one and teams cant cross a certain line, but other than that I dont know much about it. So if I suggest something and it wouldnt fit for cap reasons, let me know and maybe explain it a little bit so I understand. C - Howard, Gortat, Foyle (UFA 2010) PF - Lewis, Anderson, Bass SF - Pietrus (UFA 2011), Barnes (UFA 2010), SG - Carter, JJ (RFA 2010), PG - Nelson, Williams (UFA 2010), Johnson (UFA 2010) In my opinion, looking at that team, I think we should let go of Johnson and Foyle. Trade Gortat and Bass. And Potentially try and trade both/or Lewis and Nelson. The last part with Lewis and Nelson, should or should not be this upcoming summer, that is another argument, but the first 4 players I mentioned, I think that needs to happen with them this summer. So, if we drop Foyle and Johnson, we'll need another PG and a backup C who doesnt mind being a backup. Looking at the Free Agents, here is what I think may work for the best. As far as a backup to the backup Center (cause thats what Foyle is), I think D.J. Mbenga of the L.A. Lakers would be good. 7ft 255, he's 29. Remember this is a player that will barely see some playing time, so he doesnt have to be amazing, but he is a younger talent that can help out Dwight if he gets in foul trouble. Then you go for the back up to the back up PG. There is some rumors about Otis wanting to bring in Gilbert Arenas, personally I think this is a bad idea, yea he's good when he's healthy or out of trouble, but can you tell me the last full season he has played? Doubtful, so lets look at other options. I saw someone say in the trade thread that the Magic should go after Chris Duhon, I think that is a good idea and he will be UFA after this season. Duhon would be a good backup for whoever was running point and doesnt mind sitting on the bench because he is doing it now for the Knicks anyways. Then I was playing around on Trade Machine and I actually came up with a good deal that would help the Magic out greatly. It's a 3 way deal with the Suns and Grizzlies and Magic. The Suns receive: Gortat and Lewis The Grizzlies receieve: Jared Dudley (Phx) and Bass The Magic receive: Rudy Gay, Amare Stoudemire, and Robin Lopez (underrated, young C who will be good one day) Here is the link: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/t...hine?tradeId=yk2rj3t What do you guys think? Is this realistic or am I dreaming? Rudy Gay is a RFA after this season, so that might change things a little bit, but still I think it could happen if people wanted it to happen.

    Free Agent Wish List

It's more of a free agent thread than anything. It just so happens that Lewis' contract was mentioned (by me originally) and that we should consider trading him. I'm new to this site (by 1 day) and so I dont know what the rules are, I just posted something to see what people's reactions would be.

    Free Agent Wish List

I was watching ESPN first-take yesterday and they had all their NBA analyst on (JA Adande, Scoop Jackson, and Jalen Rose) and they were all guessing that Miami keeps DWade and adds Amare, Cleveland keeps Lebron and Chicago will add Bosh. They said that Chicago would go after Wade really hard since he is from that area. If that is the case, then who do the Magic need? if anyone, to make their team a step or two ahead of everyone in the East.

Like Who? and for who in return? I'm pretty sure not many teams would want to take on his contract, but he is a good player and so teams would probably want him.

    Free Agent Wish List

Thanks for the non gay analysis. I havent watched Duhon this year but I am just thinking of a player who might average 6-10 min a game (if that) playing behind Jameer and Williams. Who do you think is a back up Center we could get? The reason I went after R. Lopez is because Dwight is obviously the key piece to the entire team, but we want someone who doesnt mind being a backup and not someone who cries about getting minutes like the Polish Hammer does. Even though Gortat is good, we need someone who doesnt mind backing up an all star. And the thing with Rudy Gay was just an excuse to dump of Lewis' contract while getting a very good SF in return.

    Free Agent Wish List

fake and gay being my trade idea? im just thinking outside the box a little, while trying to hope for the best. I think it would be more realistic for us to get Staudemire than Bosh because Bosh (at least at this point) seems to be the hotter player at least in the circle discussions. ESPN said that the top 4 FA for this summer are 1. Lebron, 2. DWade, 3. Bosh, 4. Staudermire. So maybe if we cant get Bosh, then we go after Amare. Like I said, still just a thought.

    Wishful Thinking Thread

Hey Everyone! I posted this up somewhere else, then a Mod informed me that there is a trade forum already and you all have been rockin it so far. Here are a couple of my ideas. I'm new to this site. I used to be on the cbssportsline forum but everyone there was boring and didnt say much. Hopefully I'll get some feedback when I actually say something on here. When I look at the Magic, I think that they have done a really good job at bringing in role players to fit around Jameer and Dwight. Dwight being the key piece to it all. However, I think Jameer is starting to become too injury prone and it may be better to go with another direction. Also, another big concern (has been for the past 4-5 years) is that the Magic need another big man to help Howard on the low block and who is also agile enough to step out and shoot. The only guys I think that the Magic should go after to play the 4 spot are - Chris Bosh, Carlos Boozer, and David Lee. I think Boozer is getting too old and will probably retire in the next 3-4 years. David Lee and Chris Bosh are the best bets, but Bosh might have been hard to get, but now as he is about to enter free agency, I think we should strike while the iron is hot. So here is a trade that I ran through ESPN Trade Machine that worked out. Let me know what you think. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/t...hine?tradeId=ykmnsfo (fantasy, would be nice but would never happen) http://games.espn.go.com/nba/t...hine?tradeId=ykko3xy (again, fantasy, probably bigger fantasy, but its nice to think about) http://games.espn.go.com/nba/t...hine?tradeId=ykp7v6b (doubt NJ would trade with us on back to back years, but worth a thought) http://games.espn.go.com/nba/t...hine?tradeId=yfqbgdj ____________________________________________
