Two things can make me happier tonight:

    1) Keep Ross
    2) Vooch's contact coming back closer to the initial $90 figure rather than $100 and also being frontloaded/incentivized.  Although in reality that $10 mil really doesn't matter since it's long-term anyway.  But a baby step in the right direction would be welcomed.

The only thing that will make me happier about Vuc’s contract is it the 4th year is a team option. 90-100 doesn’t matter to me, both are awful.  It’s the years that’s worse though.

I am also noticing that everyone is going to the east. Seems like more players are realizing it is an easier course to an NBA championship through the east and are signing accordingly.

It only took a decade for super stars to realize how easy it is in the east. Lebron did it for a decade. Leonard does it for 1 year and wins a title.

I’m glad some stars are finally on this side. Makes it more competitive.

I'm not sure Bamba has crazy value right now and there's not really a big market of goto guys.

Then I wouldn’t trade him. Having Bamba develop and backup isn’t the worst thing in the world for him and us. Also Vuc does have a history of missing games. Bamba isn’t costing us a ton of money. Just keep him if you can’t get a home run trade done.

  4. If the 4th year on Vuc is a TO then the contract (though I still hate just about everything about it) makes it much better to swallow. That would pretty much make the signing what I would have thought was “worse case scenario” a few days ago. I figured 3 for around 65 would be my “worse case” for Vuc. I never imagined a 4 for 100. It really never crossed my mind. But a team option on the final year would help me make some sense of it.

A lot of smart people think Brown is being hampered by his role in Boston. Look at his playoff numbers. He's one of the most efficient scorers.

When you're looking for guys who go from role players to star players these are the signs you look for.

And if he's not that guy he's just an Evan Fournier who can actually play defense which is also good

This may all be true. But you’re willing to give Bamba up for that? It’s jot that I wouldn’t take Brown. It’s that I wouldn’t take brown for Bamba.

  6. If we trade Bamba for Brown we’d officially be a joke.

If Bamba does get traded (which kills me because I love Bamba) it better be for a good proven scorer or a young guy who has just as much potential. Like a Gary Harris or Jamal Murray type (not those guys I know neither are happening just that mold).

Trading Bamba now has Oladipo written all over it.

If Vuc shoots under 35% from deep and plays defense like every other season except the last he will be one of the worst contracts in the league. He will still get good numbers because the offense will run through him but it won't be a reflection on how good he is for the team.

I feel like the FO is smart enough to see this. They must have had pressure from above or got scared of bad PR/fan backlash if we let our first all star since Dwight walk.

Vuc has always put up solid numbers. They’re just empty and you see what he does in the playoffs. His best two season were in contract years. I agree with your second paragraph for sure. I mean go on twitter or the magic sub Reddit and if you say you don’t like this signing everyone literally says “he was an all star”. Its pathetic but it worked for vuc and duped our front office.

I can't believe I have to watch vucevic for 11 years

It’s crazy. Absolutely crazy. He seriously played us. I think the worse thing that could have happened to this franchise was him making an all star team. The casuals just ran with that and the front office totally pandered to all of it.

That and us making the playoffs. It just ruined things. Patience my ass. The guy with the torn ACL makes so much sense now.

I wish Hammond and welt were on twitter.

Yeah, we are going to get nothing good for him. He'll play 16 minutes with a weak bench, he'll be unhappy and unmotivated so will put up average numbers. We'll get lowballed all season until we finally give up on him because his camp will push it, maybe even to the point where they demand a trade. Rubbish from the FO, I expected better.

Same. I expected more. This is literally a Rob Hennigan contract. But what makes this more frustrating is we were literally so close to having all these 4 year overspends off the books. Now here we are again. I’m completely done with those 2.

Why was Bamba selected instead of a guard like Gilgeous-Alexander with management knowing Vucevic could possibly stay long-term in a year? His value is now capped at whatever he can generate from 16 MPG playing alongside bench guards. Other teams can just low-ball us knowing he'll have to be moved eventually.

    Complete mismanagement of an asset.

Because management was duped by Vuc when he upped his play in a contract year (second time he’s done this for those keeping count at home).

I officially could give 2 ****s about this regime now. They already have shown they have no clue how to handle draft picks. I like Bamba and JI but outside of those 2 then seem to mishandle the later picks constantly. Drafts flatten out. I’m done with these clowns.

So they had a magic number they wouldn’t go a dollar over. And that magic number was 100 million? Seriously, ***** those guys. I’m not even hating on Vuc. Good for him. He should get every penny he can get. But I really never thought we would ever sign him to something this big and that many years. Shocking.

So depressing. I just don't see why we want him that bad. We are destined for mediocrity now. Good job Magic.

It’s the years. It just makes no sense. Bamba is gone now. He has no value here. We really just out bid ourselves on Vuch. Crazy. 25 mil average. Yikes. Just so awful. I really don’t think another team in the league was giving him that. This is pathetic. Did we hire Rob back? He has to be behind this.

  12. I will say as miserable and deflating as I feel towards the Vuc deal (oh, and it’s miserable) there better be more to that. If it’s just throw a lot of years and money at Vuc and Ross and court the same lineup next year it’d be really head scratching. I would hope there’s more to the plan then that.

I'm not saying it would be the wrong thing to do after the fact.  I'm saying that decision in the first place (which might be happening) is flooring given our FO's philosophy.

In other words, just picking Vooch over Bamba in a vacuum is weird.  Weltman & Hammond doing it?  Wouldn't have believed it.

Couldn’t agree more. It goes against literally everything Wes/Ham have said and tried to build too. Just makes zero sense.

When you come from a country where football (soccer) is a life basically you have the mindset that you follow your team no matter what. Through thick and thin, ups and downs the lot.

I've supported the same soccer team since I was 5. We've been through it all. I wouldn't change them for anything. Same goes for the Magic.

Not any of us are experts at all on here. But I can say with confidence that our franchise is gonna be more than fine.

Lets let management do their jobs ..and see how it plays out.

I mean it’s good to be positive like you are I can respect that. But like I said when you grow up in Orlando and see the team make the same mistakes for 20+ years it just gets tiring. I’ll always love the magic it’s in my blood I couldn’t stop being a fan even if I wanted to. I just pull back on my commitment level. Like this move isn’t good for us. It’s just not. There’s so many things wrong with it. Yes, we will be alright—but that’s the issue we are once again locked in to being alright.

    Im still holding out hope.

I believe WeltHam have a plan. If we re-sign Vooch, who could we acquire for Mo?

If this is their plan I hope Mo goes to a team and absolutely becomes great and dominates us every time we play him.

Giving up on Mo would be one of the dumbest moves this franchise has made and they’ve made a ton of them.

In all fairness everybody just needs to calm down and see how this all plays out. I'll support the team 110% no matter what. If guys want to stop supporting good riddance to be honest.

It’s this blind support that creates a completely soft fan base that allows a franchise to continue to make the same dumb mistakes. Like really think about what you just said. Who else in your life would you make that statement towards? Who else would you blindly follow and support 110% no matter what?

I wouldn’t blindly follow my wife. Or my parents. No one. That’s absolute cuck mentality.

They’ *****ing stupid if they resign Vuc to that.

Yea and the more I think about it the more I don’t think it’s true. Maybe I spent the past 2 hours ramming my head into a wall for no reason. I just can’t possibly see Ham and Welt being this nearsighted. It’s against everything they’ve said.

That contract isn't going to be movable

Yea this is what I don’t get. I feel like for 5 years we’ve said Vuc is moveable yet no one really seems to want him. He’s not in demand. I’m sure some teams wouldn’t mind him but no one is giving anything substantial up for Vuc or paying him more then we just did.
